@HaltingBlooperwell, you could always focus on a specific type of telekinesis. Magnetic field control, minerals of a certain unrefinement, plates, lava, air, the options are limitless with limitations!
PLATES?! I said I didn't want OP powers, and you suggest the ability to MOVE THE EARTH'S CRUST? Lava is too rare. Air isn't terrakinesis. Magnetic field control is also not terrakinesis. Minerals could be interesting, but I'm not a geologist.

Imagine if Steven gets poofed and Rose comes back bc it's her gem. Everybody except Pearl: STeEVVEEN! Pearl: ROSE! Everybody else: PEARL WTF?!
About the AU thing, I have one where Emerald's gem is cracked, but because of his.....nature he just goes insane and encases himself in stone, essentially becoming a golem, and calls himself The Sigil(THATS WHERE THS IS FORM) while acting like a crazy person (which he kinda already does lol) and talking in third person and he ends up blinding like 40 people with his eyes, but the Gems don't stop him because he eludes them due to plot and craziness.
