Welcome!

Thanks for checking out my RP. I'm pretty laid back and don't like making a lot of rules, but here's the basic rundown.

1.) Respect your fellow RPers. Don't start OOC drama. If you've got a problem with something, PM me and we'll sort it out.

2.) Post in third person past tense. Your posts should be at least one decent sized paragraph. More is fine, just try not to go overboard.

3.) Post at least twice a week. If you're interacting with someone, wait until three people post (including the one you're interacting with) before you post again. This will keep things moving, but will also make sure people don't get left behind.

4.) This RP will involve lots of combat. Do not kill another player without permission. With generic minions, feel free to go nuts and be as badass as you want, but treat any named NPC's as you would another player. That means no auto-hitting them.

5.) If you want romance, go for it. Just keep it PG-13.

6.) I like my players, and I like their ideas. So, if you've got any ideas, don't hesitate to tell me. The worst that'll happen is I'll say, "I don't think that'll work."

I think that's all I need to say for now, but if anything comes up I'll add it here.

The CS

Name: Should be self-explanatory. Keep in mind this is eastern fantasy. The name "Kyle" probably wouldn't come up. Also include any aliases/nicknames.

Age: Even for non-human races, keep it under 100.

Race: You may be human, or any race based off of Eastern folklore/mythology. You may not be a god or godlike being.

Appearance: Any non-humanoid races should have a humanoid form for the sake of the RP. Include an image or description of all forms.

Personality: What makes your character tick? Write at least a paragraph describing the way your character acts.

History: Write a few paragraphs describing the backstory of your character. All characters should have a personal grudge against Anjou. I haven't told you much about him yet, but be creative. It'll help me shape the story. The only restriction is that the characters should not have met Anjou personally, but meeting a high-ranking minion is fine.

Skills: What is your character particularly good at? Here is where you will also describe your character's martial arts style if they know any. Try to really flesh out the skills.

Powers: Magic, Ki, Chakra, whatever. Describe your character's supernatural powers (if any) here. As a rule of thumb, if you can make a crater, you're too powerful. If you're not sure, just put the power down and I'll ask you to nerf it if necessary. The following powers are banned right off the bat: Regeneration, Teleportation, FTE speeds, Flight Without Wings, Mind Control, and anything else I deem game breaking should it come up.

Equipment: Describe what your character generally carries on them. This includes weapons AND armor. Images and descriptions of individual piece of equipment are nice. The technology level allows for steel weapons, but no guns.
Reign of the Nine-Tailed Fox

Anjou's Reign...

For as long as anyone can remember, the realm has been ruled by Anjou, the nine-tailed fox. They say that with a single breath he can summon great typhoons, that by stomping his paw he can send tremors across the world, and that even the heavens bend to his will. However, none have challenged his power in over a hundred years, so these stories remain as such. The people live in fear of their ruler. It is said that a fox who has lived long enough to acquire nine tails has acquired great wisdom and knowledge of the cosmos. If this is true, Anjou has shown none of it. He rules by his whims, often letting his officials do whatever they please. Justice is whatever the ruling lord says it is, and can only be overridden by Anjou's mood. Even the obedient are not safe, as he often rewards his finest minions by allowing them to cause whatever havoc they see fit. Many people fear that the fox will be the end of civilization. It seems that the only way to survive is to become cruel enough to earn his favor... Or perhaps by taking a stand against him and seeing how he measures up against the stories.

Anjou's Palace...

Everyone knows not to approach Mount Senkiai without good reason. Most people who venture out into the forest at its base never return, and those who have returned tell stories of countless youkai and monsters prowling about. An oppressive aura hangs over the mountain, and rumors say that Anjou has put up many layers of unholy seals around the place. One traveler reported encountering a crimson arch that he was unable to pass through despite their being no physical obstructions in his path.

At the summit of the mountain rests a crimson and white pagoda from which Anjou overlooks his realm. No common folk have ever seen the fox in person, but they have seen his high-ranking officials enter and exit from time to time. Nobody is quite sure what goes on inside besides those officials, but some suspect it is a court of demonic aristocracy.

Kado Shrine...

Even though the realm is in turmoil, there are still places protected by the gods that even Anjou's minions dare not desecrate. Kado shrine is one such place. It is generally invisible, locked away from mortals, youkai, and spirits alike. But, somehow, a band of travelers have all stumbled upon this sacred place. They all have their own motives, some noble, others deplorable, but they all want the nine-tailed fox dead. Will this gathering mark the end of Anjou's reign? Or will their fight become another story about the futility of defying the lord of the realm?
@Ojo chan 42 Looks mostly good. My main concern is that you have Tsubame bound to the graveyard, but she's going to have to leave it to even be involved in the beginning of the RP. Also, the image for your kusarigama is broken. Not a big deal, because I know what they are, but you might just wanna fix the image.

@Sodium Yeah, probably should have said late Iron Age or something. History isn't my strongest subject. They've got steel smithing for their weapons and whatnot, but no guns or canons or the like.
@Ojo chan 42 Sure! I look forward to having you.

So, I'm about ready to set up an OOC and get this started. I just want to do a quick roll call to see who's still here.

Besides the map, does anyone have any questions before we get started? I should have the OOC up sometime tomorrow, and I'll have an intro post up not long after that.
I would say my best RP wasn't a single moment, but an entire huge-ass RP I had with a friend of mine from high school. We knew each other irl, so that made planning things pretty easy, and we RPed on AIM, so it moved pretty quickly as well. The RP spanned numerous story arcs and had 3 generations of characters in it. There were many great villains, many greater heroes, and many tearful goodbyes. Plus, at one point, we stuffed a portable nuclear device into a necromantic dragon's mouth and blew him to kingdom come. These were good times...
@KOgaming The character looks good. The only thing I'm concerned about is that you probably shouldn't make her too childish. She does need to be able to work with a group of what appears to be mostly adults after all.

Everyone else, I think my next step is to make a basic map of the regions and their major cultural influences so that we can stop calling this place NotJapan. It'll be a completely different geography than irl, and I'll account for all the currently accepted CSes.

The Great Hall

@Gowi

Seldo caught on to Lyriel's playful tone and let out a delighted laugh. It was always nice to meet someone who wasn't afraid to use a bit of sarcasm in front of him. If this were one of those social gatherings he had attended, Lyriel would have just passed the first test: be interesting without being disrespectful. "Fret not, milady. Merely inheriting a crown is not a matter of honor. Rather, it is what we do with our crown that makes us honorable or not, don't you agree?" His lips curled into a friendly smile, and it was clear that his mood had completely recovered from his brief spat with Prometheus. "And I suppose my time here will tell whether or not a man with my admittedly limited abilities is worthy of the crown." He met her show of exaggerated humility with one of his own. It was clear from the tone of his voice, that he was teasing Lyriel right back.

"Ah, Northwatch you say. Milady is certainly a long way from home." Admittedly, Seldo knew very little of Northwatch's affairs. It was yet another kingdom on the other side of the world that Forlonia had few dealings with. Still, he had heard of some accident that had taken the king's life long ago. If the current king was Lyriel's brother, though, then Northwatch had a surprisingly young ruler. However, Seldo wanted to avoid that topic for now. He was sure Lyriel didn't want to talk about her dead father any more than he wanted to talk about his dead brother. "If my geography serves me correctly," Seldo continued, "Northwatch is farther away from The Conclave than any other kingdom. It must have been quite a long trip for you. I hope you are settling in alright." She certainly didn't look to be particularly fatigued, but nobles were notoriously good at hiding their discomfort. Seldo wasn't sure how high his own spirits would be after making such a long trek.
@Zero Hex It'll be set in NotJapan which is different than NotChina and whatnot, but we'll say the people have been substantially less xeonophobic and there's been a good amount of cultural diffusion to account for Chinese inspired people living in Japanese inspired places.
