Bio

Hello! I'm Heap!
Welcome to my little corner of the guild.

My current life status and availability:

I live in the Western area of the US in an apartment I work 2 jobs and 50-65 hours (Not exaggerating) a week to pay for. I work primarily as a professional graphic designer and part time at a local family owned shop mainly as a favor to the owner who needed the help. Aside from that I'm relatively active in my social life and non-role-playing activities so while I'm still online everyday the hours are usually really early in the morning and really late at night. That being said, if you find me in chat and I randomly disappear, I'm not trying to be rude, someone probably just showed up at my door wanting to hang out or go out.

My Roleplaying style:

When it comes to joining a role-play I usually go for a more adult themed type. Not necessarily intimate just more of a mature context. The genre doesn't typically matter so long as the idea is somewhat original, that to say, I don't go for role-plays based on any specific media very often. The exception being if the role-play is based off an already well established story that it's not completely following the canon of it.

Who I am:

Curiosity is my blessing and curse. I must know as much about everything as I possibly can and often will never take a simple answer to a question without either inquiring further or doing extra research on the subject until I know it's origin, current political and monetary state, how it's used and if in any way it could influence my own life. So far as I know I'm a pretty easy going, fun loving, person, I'm not afraid to go against the grain or do something that seems a little odd. In the end I genuinely just want to be a happy person and in turn share that happiness with everyone around me.

Side note:

I've made a few friends since being here and truly cherish my friendships with each and every one of them (you know who you are). If you guys ever need anything, ever, I'm there, you never need to ask twice or feel like you are any less important to me then you really are.

The Ibrus Clan is also a thing consisting of myself, @Vashonn, @Caster and @Big Dread. We are a group of miscreants and are all really good friends. I would do almost anything for them.

@TheWindel Okay! Sounds good! I can't handle more then like 10 people in a single RP haha

Give me a little bit to get a character together.
@TheWindelThis looks great! A few questions before I post a character though..

1. How large of a group are you looking for?
2. Are our characters self-searching for jobs to be done or Youkai to kill or is there a "command center" where they have to pick up contracts?
3. What types of powers are okay? I just don't want to get into god-moding territory.
There's a lot I could speak on with this subject, and to be completely honest, most opinions of this rank I typically don't share publicly as it causes unwarranted tension and friction. A good opinion once lost, is lost forever. That being said, don't read my post and start a fight over it. I'm more of a factual person then an opinionated one anyway.

That being said...

I don't know that there are many people in the world or in history who did not have a modern "mental illness." Before I continue, let me preface that I personally have a lot of history with mental illnesses. My mother was an actual sociopath, to an extent of also being a pathological lier. My older sister tried committing suicide at the age of 16 and in a desperate attempt to not take responsibility my mother had her committed to a mental institution where we discovered she had sever Bi-Polar disorder. My younger sister has ADD but is one of the most outgoing encouraging people you could meet. I personally have sever PTSD. After this period I worked as a caregiver at a special needs daycare where our primary focus was giving care to children with sever and minor mental disabilities, downs-syndrome children, handicap children, children with extreme allergies etc. Let me also state, the only reason why this is being stated is to give you a recount of my opinions, not for a pity cry or an attention grab.

Now, while there are many people with sever cases of mental disorders, I don't think it is something people should view so negatively. As my opening statement said. I don't think there are many people in the world or in history that did NOT have some sort of mental ability or disability. This is not a weakness, it's a personality. Yes, there are some cases where extra care and attention are required but, for the most part these mental states are just natural setbacks as most people have in any area of their life. Not everyone who can't spell has dyslexia. Some may not be the brightest, this does not mean they are mentally retarded. Some may be brilliant, this does not make them a genius, in fact many cases of brilliance can be traced back to mild-sever forms of ADD or ADHD. Please see Albert Einstein as a reference.

Just as @BrokenPromise stated, people use these labels as an excuse for their behavior or to classify themselves with a group. Instead of fixing the issues they have with certain behaviors or circumstances, which can be done. I knew a little boy with autism who when he first came to the center was unapproachable, but by teaching him that he was okay, that it's okay not to be good at everything and in turn including him with the other children, etc, etc, I won't go to far into the details of this case, he turned out to be one of the kindest, most thoughtful children I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He had a love more living creatures that I rarely see in any human being, mentally disabled or otherwise. Again, just because someone may have a disability it doesn't give them an excuse for their behavior. Do you think there have been no human beings in history without depression? Do you think they just threw down the hat and said, "Okay, that's it, I'm done." and just stopped everything? (these are rhetorical questions) There would be no history and no current if that was the case.

Okay now, on your statement about using RPG as an escape from reality, I don't think it is any different then playing a video game, watching a movie or TV show, reading a book, etc. Aren't all of those cases escaping from reality? So many people come home from a day at work and just turn on the television and close their mind off from the rest of the world. At least role-playing is a creative outlet, where people are bettering themselves in their writing ability and learning from the situations that come up within the role-play. It would only be considered "unhealthy" if like in any situation they ignored whatever was going on completely. Sometimes people have to wait out bad situations and given that time, would not want to spend the bulk of it dwelling on their poor state. If there were no outlets for bad situations, getting out of such situations would mean suffering for a time afterwards in a sorrier state then you would have been if you got your mind of it for a little while here and there.

Now, let the bitching begin. I'm ready.
The manor was still but for the movement and conversation coming from the dining hall. The time was now 2pm and two hours had passed since the arrival of the visitors.

After only such time two of our arrivals, James Hunter and Charon Takahoto decided to take their journey elsewhere leaving a handful left to explore the old house. The doors however stayed open for new guests to arrive.

Madam Mitzuki, in her tucked away corner of the house, took two game pieces carved from wood, one an apple and the other a small dog and placed them in a chest, leaving on a large table etched with the layout and blue prints of the house the remaining figures.
@ravenDivinity

No it's great! Don't apologize! I just thought, when someone is born in reality they have no memories or anything so their feelings they've adapted based on their memories are fresh. A child born will cling to their mother because it is first the initial person they see and second because that's the person who has taken care of them and will continue to. I figured, this girl just woke up out of a capsule with no memory but for her name and here comes this creature that lured her awake, took care of them while they slumbered and is now speaking to them about their roles. I would think naturally someone with experiences and developed emotions would be hesitant to trust someone, but someone with no memory and no remembered emotional experiences other then the voice waking them up would cling to that voice..

Make sense..
@ravenDivinity Hah! I didn't realize how blind Beth seemed to be. It wasn't my intention for her to seem that way but I don't mind it either.
@Mesonyx Hey! That means less cat hair on his side right?

Good! I have a full 48 hours of no going to work and don't know what to do with myself with so much time off lol. Maybe my apartment will finally get some much needed attention.
@Mesonyx How's the Christmas cat?
@ineffableHmm.. Muse, Pink Floyd (Okay.. I know this one isn't super new but it's still really f***ing good music), Radiohead.

Lets see.. for pop, I haven't listened to them personally on Vinyl but I'm sure Sia, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy or Panic at the Disco would be good! They all have deep melodies that would be enhanced by vinyl.
