@Chenzor Alright sooo... I think I'm following how everyone else started. Am I going to get questioned like what kind of humans the people of Aeroral are? They are not very magic adept, and for the most part they banish magic within their walls as it's too powerful and dangerous. Everyone is also doing C) Improve infrastructure I) Take diplomatic action B) Improve military technology etc Where is the list for these actions? Should I go ahead and take a turn since I'm just joining? I mean, go ahead with an action, not a completed action
@Murtox I purposely chose to be close to you... do you think your kingdom would be okay with talking if we were to discover each other?
They had only settled long enough with something of a shoddy wooden wall before starting a settlement, trying to make sure they had some sort of protection. While not a reinforced wooden wall, it was enough to give them time to prepare against an attack. Princess Lestra had little to no knowledge of Military Tactics, depending on her Fathers best friend, general, and leader of the Personal Guard, to make sure they were safe. She wasn't very well versed in civilization or agriculture either, the most she knew was a little politics. While the government of Aeroral didn't require a King to lead and/or limit a Queens power (It gave Queen as much power as a King), it was still expected that women didn't go into things as much as men did. Not that they couldn't, it's just they weren't encouraged to or looked at as. She was confused and lost, heavily dependent on her Fathers best friend.
<Snipped quote by Heartfelt Gamer> Gotcha on the Purple. Was on my phone so couldn't really compare. I'll approve on your shoddy wooden wall if it suits your nation. Besides, I don't think it's that big of a deal since you're joining in rather late and the others have already established themselves. I wouldn't want you to start with drawbacks right off the bat! Also don't be so sure about your enemies not finding you here... ;)
Hey if you want the big bad enemies that resemble Goths to come in here and find me, I've got no problem with that. Just at least let me have met some people, ally or not, first?
@Chenzor Yes, the map shows a Heliotrope purple taken, I want a Violet purple.
Or, there is a bright, pinkish purple taken, I want a dark purple.
Edit: Would it be alright if I started with a shoddy wooden wall around my settlement? Reasons for building a badly made wall up before the settlement lies within the history; they are still on the run from the enemy. Of course the enemy won't reach here, but it's their personality. I already expect to take a hit on growth and crops. (I don't have many peasants/farmers to begin with. 2/3s are military)
When first witnessing Aerues Regency, they seem to imitate medieval tendencies. Where as, they reserve themselves in a high fashion. Not necessarily above others, but royal bloodlines, nobility, honor, preservation. They are upstanding, polite, understanding, and always willing. But that's when you get to know them, from a distance, they appear to be cold-hearted stone statues, but that is only because the monarchical government doesn't tolerate wild tendencies, they expect upstanding and bold members. Their ships and structures represent this as well, showing a fashionable "Titan"-esque view to them. But to be "fancy" They look like "Tough Feathers." Aerus Regency likes to specialize in armor/size and speed, but they like their shields. Most structures can seem blocky but flat. In relation to their honor and preservation, they are very prideful in respects to being honor-bound and morally Just. So when an individual is given a position, they are expected to Excel at it, or go into another position. Excellence is required, but poor skills are not outcasted. The individual is just swapped around until they discover what they are good at. This may not be good for flexibility as it's made out to be best skills rather than preference.
Aerues Regency started in a very small solar system, consisting of very few planets, and their homeworld just as small. However, due to their exceedingly fast reproduction rates, they were quickly forced to find more inhabitable worlds. While they created many Space Stations and "Space Bases" on the other worlds in their system that were not environmentally harmful, They were forced to expand to thrive. They had begun stretching themselves thin as a unified Nation, spreading colonization ships to several solar systems. Most of these journeys took a long time, as their advanced engines weren't exceedingly advanced to essentially 'blink' across space and time. Eventually most became cut off, still requiring long distance trade to accumulate a basic living on these unknown and distant planets. So while the old Kingdom reached far and wide, it was more like reaching far, and not filling the gaps. This was a security flaw for them, that they never really got to securing. The issue may still linger with them.
Aerues prioritize defense over offense, taking the "A good defense is the best offense," literally. They fortify positions as if they were in a war, combine armor and shielding for their soldiers (inheriting the 'titan' appearance), even the lowest class. However, their attention to detail, or just the "complete" factor in their mindsets can be limited, and they can easily have a flaw or weakness in anything. They are poor invaders and war-bringers. Their ships, soldiers, fighting technology... all designed for defense or a quick assault, although their tactics excel at hit and run over a full frontal assault, although their protective capabilities make them great for a frontline assault or to 'hold the line.' Their only extreme weakness is ambush, creating one or being a victim to one. Fighting tactics of the Aerues are extremely limited.
Aerus Regency bases itself in honor and punishment. If you do wrong, a ruling of the leader is made as to what kind of punishment equal to the crime. In honor, it's the same. If you dishonor your family or line, you are made a disgrace in all of Aerues. However, dishonoring isn't something so much as... an offspring not living up to their parents potential. More so... finally finding an offsprings best suited position, and in critical times they fail horribly at it. Dishonor is usually found in doing ones best job horribly, because it shows an individual isn't even good at their best skill. Aerues take honor seriously, it is the foundation of their society, it is how they excel at life and technology. Without it, they see themselves as a wild pack of mutts, and being "wild" is the worst insult you can be given within the society.
Due to the scrambling and reshuffling of the universe (From the way Aerues sees it), unfortunately, this time they really were cut off from their homeworld and homesystem. During the reshuffling, their original system wasn't taken with them. Their Homesystem had all of their facilities, agriculture, and where their orders came from. The few systems that came with them and were able to stay in contact are few military outposts and settlements, not as advanced in defenses or agriculture, they are in their stable stages of life; which means they just reached self sustaining.
As of now, currently, their official Homeworld is called Aerues 4, the naming system was very simple. They have technical names, and nicknames. Each new system would have a classification, starting as Aerues, and then a number would follow in the order of which the first planet was colonized. The nickname of their new home is called Dawnues, for personal reasons of the Aerues. It is, unfortunately, a dead planet, like most planets that were discovered by the Aerues. In comparison, there are few others that can have agriculture, and only one that is breatheable on. It is approximately 2,900 mi in diameter. Its surface is sturdy enough to attach facilities and structures to it, but it is infertile. Majority of Aerues live within bubbles, rarely being "outside" (This is in general of all Aerues, not just the ones on Dawnues).
The only other inhabited planet in the homesystem is nicknamed "Taris," and it is the major military planet of all of Aerues. The most fortified, the most secured, the most protected, and most active. It's only rival is Aerues Alpha, their original homeworld. Out of all of the other worlds Aerues currently has, Taris is the only one with the most materials required for construction, and has a small amount of fertility for agriculture, whereas a third of the planet is a jar of magma, volcano's sprouting along its surface. The planets diameter reaches just under 30,000 mi, making it the largest inhabitable planet within the Aerues' entire galaxy. Its surface is also commonly used for space-combat and training for Aerues Infantry. It has aided greatly in developing heat-treated environmental suits and combat suits, making the wearer practically immune to the heat as long as they didn't come into direct contact with the source.
The Homesystems third world ranges just above a thousand mi in diameter. It is a completely dead planet, infertile, with little to no atmosphere. It is commonly used as a gravesite for Aerues people and it is respected even more than their homeworld.
The fourth planet, nicknamed "Dauntless Alpha," is approximately 76,000 mi in diameter. It is the largest planet ever discovered by Aerues in their home galaxy. It is a lost planet, riddled with dust storms, covered in red sand. It has the smallest breatheable atmosphere of all the other Aerues planets, and shows potential for improvement, but currently, Aerues lack the technology to essentially 'fix' this planet. Full of materials and ore, it is an avoided planet due to the strength of the winds, requiring anything larger than a fighter to traverse within its atmosphere, for anything else it critically damages.
Similar to a Monarchy, the Aerus Regency was reclassified from "Aerues Empire." It bears similarities to many governmental systems relative to Monarchy, however, it's not birthright, family line, or being blessed, to be leader of Aerues. It is based on their blood. Those with the purest, the most healthy blood, are those that are in leadership and governance or nobility positions. The top leader has many titles, such as King, Emperor, Commander, Leader, Majesty, etc. But Reign over Aerues is physically passed down from the last Ruler to the next of who is deemed so by the last Ruler themself. Rulership can not be ceased by any other way, except Newbirth. If the current Ruler is lost, Aerues is forced into a Regency, giving Temporary Rulership to the next immediate family member. Temporary Rulership causes the people of Aerues to decline or refuse orders, rules, or commandments given by the Temporary Ruler. To gain Regency, the people of Aerues actually vote on who should take temporary rule if there are multiple immediate family members, such as a daughter and son. It isn't by age or gender, both genders are seen equally in any position.
Once Regency has been formed, there is no complete rule over Aerues until a newborn is birthed from joined Regency holders and comes of age for Rulership. Then, and only then, do they gain unquestioned control over Aerues. This arrangement was made so there could not be any chaos or wrong Rulership, i.e. The King was murdered by the only son so they could take complete Reign over all of Aerues.
Under Regency, the only people of Aerues the Regency holder has complete control over is the Personal Guard. The personal guard can not refuse any command given by the Ruler or Regency of the time, no matter the order or command. Even while Aerues military can take the moral highground or take the more Just approach on things, and even refuse an immoral command from the Ruler themself, the Personal Guard are seen as those who do what must be done, no matter the act. They have not become brainwashed, it's simply what they've come to personally understand. In the Aerues history, it has been known that portions of the Aerues people can not fall into the society type, and do worse than just leaving it. Terrorist groups have taken almost two thirds of the population and converting to new ideals and threatening the balance. The Personal Guard have been known to be the 'last resort' in calming the people, and in this, they do anything that is needed.
Along with their 'grouping' or 'classification' the people of Aerues, are called Aeruesians. Similar to humans, almost identical, except some say they are even more fragile. Aeruesians are lanky, and very tall humans by comparison, with only enough muscle to keep them active and decently strong. They can't expand their muscles, and depend on technology to give them strength, hardiness, and protection. Even when an Aeruesian dresses casually, they tend to be in some sort of exo-suit that encompasses their body and is equivalent to full body armor, that still holds mobility.
Aerusians are limited not only by their strength, but their adaptability and mentality. Due to their origin, their genetics did eventually take time to adapt to their planet in a way that benefited them, but they didn't excel at Hunters in their primitive state. Very intelligent in the ways of solving problems, but it is figuring out or realizing what the problems are, which is where they failed at. Attention to detail, peripheral, etc, they had nearly none of. It's why they have required technology so much, as without it, they have trouble living in any situation.
Physically, their bones have stayed strong, and with their technological advancements into bone structure, they've been able to increase the density of their bones, improving stability for better use with their suits and exo-skeletons. Before these improvements, they could only use the lightest of materials, which caused their suits to be near useless, even against basic ballistic weapons. Along side their bone structure, some features of any Aerues may differ on a grand scale. While they are all born lanky and tall, their genetics share between aesthetic options. Not options they can personally change, but with all being the same nationality and cultured area, the next Aerusian could be vastly different even when they came from the same family. Hair colors, eye shapes and sizes, ear shapes and sizes, fingers, hands, feet, all radically different. An example being, from the same family, one Aeruesian could have pointy ears and slitted, slanted eyes, while another has large, oval-shaped ears, with round eyes and an average pupil.
Unfortunately, even with all of their biological enhancements that have made them less brittle, it has also affected their blood and immune systems, among other organ problems. While they might be able to lift a tank in the right exo-skeleton, they may become easily short of breath, their heartrate may be horrifyingly slow, they may require a living ex-suit (Not a suit that is alive, one they permanently wear) to prevent them from contracting diseases, they may develop issues with certain foods or liquids, they may bruise easily or cut easily, or may not be able to develop blood cots to stop bleeding. While these problems might be apparent in other humanoid species, these are only some of the problems Aerusians continually and commonly suffer from, and even removing the enhancements has shown little effectiveness. If the advancements were removed, and the Aeruesians kept their current technology and tactics, each soldier that went into battle would become permanently bedridden by the end of the day.
While the Aerues Regency bases its people in a 'best skill, best profession' area, they look highly upon a caste system. More so, family castes. If a son was born from a highly decorated military father, they are expected to fall in that same line. If their skills do not match, it doesn't look good for the family. Not to say the family is dishonored, but if they were to fall in the line, trust and honor would be much easier to gain. Honor is the root of Aerues. Where economy could buy a person, honor can sway a person, trust a person, and sell a person. It is a very rare occurrence, but if it does eventually happen, individuals are outcasted if they have too low of an honorable reputation. Their best skills are taken and applied to workshifts where most tasks performed can be performed by automated machines. Not to put an individual as low as such, but mostly it is to improve a machines work load or speed, make sure the machines are operating correctly, if it's something close to an artificial intelligence they are tested for malfunctions or issues, it is the lowest of the professions, but it isn't the worst. The better reputable the better the project, only the best for the best project.
The culture also thrives within a fashion sense, no one looks "ragged" or "trashy." Everyone has a sense of upstanding attire and it is almost uniform. Colors predominantly are composed of light blue, orange, and/or white in most of the society. Ranging from civilians, workers, structures, civilian ships, etc. Other colors reserved for other areas of expertise such as political, military, and otherwise. (Think Star Trek).
There is no internal economy, and economy gained, salvaged, mined, etc is held in a Royal Vault, only accessible to the 'Royal Bloodlines," more so, the current Ruler or Regency. On special request, access can be granted temporarily for specific values and reasons. Such a matter was created to handle outside trade outside of Aeruesians, and to keep their society from grasping onto economy as a 'who's better' lifestyle. Instead, the society has grabbed onto honor as their 'internal economical system.'
While there is nobility, there is no 'poor class/caste.' There is a lower class of individuals, but that is just civilian, and general workers and civilians are on the same level. Political positions are usually only held by noble blood, and military positions are usually only held by civilian classes. There is civilian and nobility, and one or the other has expectations for political or military, while science is shared.
While religion is not actively ritualized or worshiped, they do follow something similar to Deism. They believe in architectural ideals of creation and evolution. A basis made and adaptation. While they are bad at adaptation themselves, they know how to and how they have adapted in many ways. One thing they are gracious for is knowing how to adapt in a dead system where their planet was the only fertile one.
While there is the civilian and worker groups, political, science, and military, there are only two groups that have a factor in progression and advancement within Aerues. Civilian/Worker organization is the largest of them all, with Political being the smallest. Military and Science have been greatly influenced upon and taken seriously within Aerues. With their society system and unified culture, there isn't much need for political, and with the military keeping the civilians/workers in line, there is no need for a grand rule system, or new rules. And without internal economy, there is little to no corruption combined with the political system of governance.
As it has been noted, and will be again, Aerues is not perfect, and that may be an understatement. With it's advanced technology, balanced society system, stable economy system, they have flaws. And these flaws may be best shown with internal problems. Internal meaning, Aeruesian people, not their defects or random health problems. While preparing for war and protecting Aerues, rogue Aeruesians have been a serious problem throughout its history. Not only do they leave the societal system, they come back, to fight it. This hasn't turned Aerues into a police nation, but it has contributed directly for the reasons of why they push their military technology so hard. Aeruesians have always been a defensive and preservationist type of Nation. They want to hold on to their lives and what they have; this doesn't mean they won't share. Anything that can be copied or cloned they have no problem giving out for some incentive, but they are such a defensive nation because they are protective of themselves and each others.
Leading on to the moments before the vacuum incident, They were still suffering the same problems they started with when they cemented their Aerues Kingdom in time. Over population, biological problems, internal terrorism. At the time they were just trying to build colony ships and send them out, finding and building new settlements. Perhaps this transition was some sort of miracle? Some of the politicians and scientists have been thinking that since these issues are no longer priority, that they can focus on advancement instead of stabilization.
With the sudden event of being tossed into unknown, open space, losing contact with home, and no way of going back, the Nation has fallen into a great depression, a sadness. It has hampered the majority of the Nations skills and behaviors. While workload is unaffected, work quality has degraded. The nation is currently investing in politics more to assert the population.
Military and science have been affected, but their attentions were steered toward making sure they were prepared, and to discover the reasons why. The Aeruesian scientists have come up with multiple theories, but all leading to false, coming down to no one knowing what happened. The military were put in a state of panic of what if's. If they were alone, if they were taken away from home forcibly, if they were going to be attacked. Within their dead system, the most they've met were creatures relative to pets other than their own species, so they have no idea what they should be expecting outside their systems.
Technology: Complimentary to most military systems, they have vehicles, spacecraft (large and small), atmospheric gunships, carriers, battleships, etc., but while are only basic in their military forces, their most scientific and military advancement lies in their exo-suits, which range from environmental, to civilian, to massive titans of war. They've been able to explore, otherwise dangerous environments, survive critical and otherwise fatal incidents, and end a battle with only a few soldiers -- among themselves. Their technological advancements lie heavily in biological advancement; genetic altering. Although this technology has not been perfected, their best achievement is in health. More so defined as survivability. Critical wounds, gashes, severe blood loss, all regenerated in an almost instant. Depending on the severity, the tools created that can be used are a simple spray to seal a wound with artificial flesh, or an injection that releases materials and nanobots that increase the effectiveness and speed of regenerating and healing wounds however deep it may be.
Their secondary and tertiary advancements lie in shielding and armor, making sure they can take a blow and push an enemy back before sustaining bad enough wounds to have to pull back. Any further technological feats lie within construction, to create faster building (Not at an instant), better structures, new structure types, atmospheric/breathable environments, agriculture labs, etc.
Military Structure: The military structure is quite similar to that of the old times in scriptures for the starting of Monarchies, but not exactly the same. In fact, it could be seen as simplified, but the overall military wouldn't use the same description. There are three high ranks that command within the structure, however, the Ruler has the last say. The Ruler is the highest military rank. There are Officers, which lead up to twenty soldiers, including vehicles. Constables command up to a hundred soldiers, vehicles, fighter squadrons, and can Captain ships, and head military outposts. And Marshals command up to a thousand soldiers each, command fleets, and are head of main military facilities. On massive scales, this gets confusing, which requires the current Ruler to take command in such cases, but it still doesn't solve the problem, only lightens the load of command. In the end, this is another flaw of the Aerues, wars on massive scales that requires dozens of Marshals proves to be an achilles for Aerues.
Military in action is grouped together under individual command as stated above, it is only separated by training divisions and constructing divisions. Some need higher security access, some just need the knowledge of how to put it together. Transports, Exo-suits, infantry-grade weapons, piled into the Infantry division. Tanks, Titan suits, Titan-grade weapons, Surface-to-Air Gunships, piled into Heavy Division. Everything spacecraft and above is the Space Division. Depending on the Division a soldier is put into, they learn enough about the Division and what they drive or pilot or use to know how to create quickfixes in the middle of battle, and they also train in the suits, vehicles, or seats while the device is being constructed. Crews for ships are usually assigned to a ship before it is completely constructed so they can train and test while the ship is undergoing construction so that when it is undocked, they are ready to pull out. This type of training is excellent so that every soldier knows at least a little about the device, and no one is clueless, but it takes a lengthy time to train soldiers. Due to this, they have hyper-active recruiting so they can attempt at being prepared, but they never draft, that would be far more harmful to their societal system already in place.
History: The Kingdom of Aeroral wasn't always Aeroral... back in its origins, it had another name. Although, it had a better life. It had... people, land, nobility, armies, it had a deep history that started with nothing more than some hard working hands. It was a massively large kingdom with flourishing lands, full of food, coin, and life. Its' people were gracious and kind, tactful and honorable. Strength and strategic, their armies were great, but they were not a warfaring people. They had such large armies, and experienced armies, to fight back the hordes of enemies that wished to control their people and own their land and riches. And for a third of its life, in its final moments, it became the target of a much greater nation. While the old Kingdom reached far and wide, this new enemy had an army that... may not have been the most elite, but their numbers were far too great, and even after each soldier of the old kingdom would cut down many enemies, there were hordes more behind those bodies. Eventually the war pushed to their front door, to their main capitol. With no more military might, the great kingdom was to fall. The Old King stayed behind, preparing and securing his daughters escape. He gave her his personal guard, the remaining townsfolk, and his most trusted soldier, staying with the last of his front line soldiers. Now, fleeing from being hunted, the titles and names have changed, to hopefully rebirth new life again.
