A Clayman's Finale

In such a stressful moment, Salia heard Arthur calmly asking her to listen carefully. Arthur always gave great advice, yet he generally chose to keep a low profile in such situations where being able to focus was crucial. Therefore, the fact the king wanted to talk to her that very instant meant it was important. "Salia, I have been contacted by someone named Ladon, identifying themselves as the spirit of the white queen. We are told that reinforcements have arrived and will be joining us- you quite quickly". Half of the information was lost with the rush of the moment. Salia was also not in the best physical condition although not moving too much was helping her. But she did hear something about the white queen and reinforcements. That was enough for her.

"Damn it! I know you're not holders! But if we're not careful, we might get killed if the traps continue to hit us from behind while we try to get out!" However, it was clear they'd better do that. Even more so now, since reinforcements seemed to come. "Sonneillon, please protect our backs as we move back!" She was wary of issuing orders to someone else's Spirit but Adeline wasn't exactly calm herself and Salia thought it was her duty to take care of the whole situation to the best of her abilities. It was the only thing she could do at that point. And if retreating seemed like the best option for now, that is what they would do. "Moving back everyone! I'm moving behind you so do not worry; your lives are not in danger!". Keeping them calm would make them more efficient... wouldn't it?

And suddenly, a voice Salia had not heard for a long time. It was Lux! It almost seemed like a twist of fate. She had saved him once, and he was there to help them now. "Good heavens, Lux, you have the gift of timing!!" she could feel her own smile as she ran back without looking behind her. They were going to reunite with people who could clearly help them. And while Salia did not like asking for help, it was easy to see they would not be able to complete their mission on their own. Whoever's call it had been to ask for help, it was the right one and she would have to thank that person.

"Oh, I understand, Quartz, I understand... so you are curious about humans, hm? Maybe we can have a conversation, some time" Remia's own curiosity taking over. What kind of things would such a being be curious about? To her, as a human, the way they behaved, and thought, and everything was normal. Sometimes mysterious and unexplainable, that was true, but still normal. However, no matter if this Quartz spoke, it was still not a human, so its ways of thinking would surely be different, not to mention its values and principles. That could make for an interesting chat indeed.

It seemed that everyone was on the same page regarding the actions of their companion, who had gone on her own. If anything happened, they would surely find out almost immediately. Remia then thought that she had indeed told them she would contact them... how she'd do that, they would not know. But of course, they would be finding out in due time. Not that a Librarian would say such a thing and never contact them again, right? The relatively casual conversation dragged on for a bit as the group made its way outside of the more crowded areas.

"Is your true size really 20 feet tall?!" Remia showed her surprise, opening her eyes wide and looking visibly shocked. She then rose her sight upwards, as if to calculate how tall 20 feet would have to be. "Not bad...!" Remia did have to wonder why the small size was called 'fun size' by Quartz, although part of her warned her it might be better not to ask. At least not yet. Later on, the group was called to the beach, where they would have to do their job. The protesters were already in full bloom and being rather loud. Remia decided to simply not listen to them. What if they were right in any way? It might be better to just lock her feelings for a while...

It was at that point that they were told about the fact there were two holders near the seashore, holders that were not Librarians and so people they knew nothing about. Remia nodded at Eowyn's words, not answering as she didn't have anything to add to the information they were given. Nothing other than being attentive. "Let's go then" she smiled at her compaion as she lead them onto the beach. She could see her struggling with leading the pack and trying to get the crowd out of the way... so Remia did what she knew she could do. She walked close to Eowyn, and gently but firmly pushed people away. "Out of the way, please!". Remia tried sounding authoritative yet not confrontational. Hopefully, it would work well. "I'm pretty sure if they get him, they're going to cause a riot, however" she said as an answer to Mime's remark.

Once Sean and Emily began arguing, with Fran taking command of the situation (or trying to, at least), Diane felt she was a bit on the sidelines. It was clear that this Steve person meant his words. He was ready to fight. Not because he wanted, Diane felt, but because he felt cornered like a little animal. And everyone with a bit of common knowledge knows that small animals can be really fierce when they are cornered!! Not that this man seemed comparable to a small critter in any way, save for the restless appearance he had.

The situation was clearly tense, and Diane did what she thought she did best. Remain in the background, prepared to start any kind of fight support literally any moment now. Whatever the team decided, she would be ready to support them. She had not been here before, she did not know these names that had been mentioned and so she was useless when it came to intel. Therefore, knowing her limitations put her in a rather easy if uncomfortable situation.

She only had one thing to do. Wait, and be ready for anything. Which of course made her feel uneasy. But what else could she do? Nothing, was the answer.
Sorry to those waiting for me! Should be posting within the next 48 hours. We apologise for any inconvenience. We hope you continue to fly with us in the fut- wait, what?

Remia realised that the snake's wings ruffled as she spoke. Did it feel insulted, maybe? She did say the group was difficult... but in her head, that was not so much an insult but rather a statement. Different personalities and even someone working on their own. If that wasn't difficult, what would be? Remia then laughed a bit at the comment about the rogue member of their group being pleasant to be around. "Well, I wouldn't know if she is or not, since she's... not around!". Remia somehow liked the way this snake spoke, even if it looked a bit strange for her taste. At least, she wasn't used to such beings.

"Sorry if I offended you" Remia realised it may have been the case, as she listened to the answer. "Fair enough, you seem to be friendly!" the girl lowered her head to properly face Arlette "well... I suppose she should be fine. I mean, what could hurt her in such a place?". It was the logical conclusion. Nothing should. And if something could, then it should be easy for them to spot the fight from afar and... well, lend their assistance. Probably.

It was only at that point when Remia realised that Quartz was the one to do the talking, not Nathair. In fact, it almost seemed as though Quartz was the Holder, seeing how much in charge it was over the man. She was sure that couldn't be the case, though, and there must have been some kind of agreement. After all, there was no way a Holder would let its Spirit take over too much, right? At least Remia knew she wouldn't do that, and Lancelot seemed to have assumed a counceling position in the end.

"I suppose I should be the one ready for the first strike. After all, I'm a Rook and so I can just carry my weapon without it looking too... complicated, I guess." As she said that, Remia wondered which of her weapons was a better option for their environment. She had a guess, but of course, there could be some complications in such a hot area.

Diane listened carefully, most of the time understanding what Fran was pointing out although she missed some of the finer details. She would agree, however, in that they were amazing. It was at that point where all of a sudden the ground trembled and a huge worm-type of beast came out from the sand with a man on top. "What do you know? A man riding a worm!" she said to herself. If she hadn't seen that, she wouldn't have believed it. Even saying it was causing her to giggle. But the situation was serious enough as the man questioned them on their presence at the site.

Emily was quick to answer. Clearly, she knew the man. Diane cleared her throat silently as she brought her hands to her upper chest, as if she felt she would canalise her voice and her energy better that way. It was just a stance she felt would allow her to quickly start her support songs, if the need for it arose. In the meantime, her spirit, Meena, was a little bit more on edge. Usually, she simply took an observing position, generally not intervening with whatever the Holder did. After all, the Spirit was a bard and she had been granted a once-in-a-lifetime chance.

Seeing a different world to her own, where she could witness fights between heroic people and amazing foes that would inspire dozens, perhaps even hundreds of songs. Maybe even an epic that she could perfect through time so that when she came back to her world (if ever), she could become even more popular and please everyone with such an enticing tale to tell. Or who knew, maybe she could do the opposite and get a body of her own in this world and sing songs from her own and get equally popular and please people as much as she wanted to. Both were exciting choices, and so she was content with waiting, so far. Yet now, she spoke to Diane. "Careful!"
You're probably waiting on me. Booo! :P

I'm posting today... :)
Sowwie!! :(

I was supposed not to be around here for a week but things went quite badly and I did not have the work I thought I'd have. This of course meant last-minte changes and less time for me to use properly.

I am aware of the fact I am generally slow and I feel sorry for that! But there's nothing I can do about it, most of the time... and I refuse to drop this. So as long as you would be kind enough to tolerate me, I'll be happy to stick..

"Don't mention it! It was part of our job and we wouldn't let a partner unhelped... I know you would have done the same" Remia spoke to Arlette, meaning her words. After all, they had a story from their last mission. It was only natural Arlette was thankful. But then again, it was also obvious to Remia there was only one path to take in that situation. So in her innocent mind, there was no need to thank her. She saw the path and she took it. That was all. "If you really want to express your gratitude, let's just get along some more, okay?". She was in a rather good mood, lately. Maybe it was because of the change of scenery and the nice weather, compared the cold they had experienced for way too long.

Eowyn seemed to be still a bit nervous as she spoke to this Nathair person. Remia thought there was something off about him. She decided to be wary. Not that she would be rude or anything but... was that a snake anyway?! The girl did not particularly like snakes and while she wasn't afraid of them -not when she could fight them-, she wasn't pleased by the presence of one. "Somewhere a little more quiet sounds good... I'm all up for that" she said, supporting Eowyn's decision. They may not have been extremely close but having worked together meant they could understand each other somewhat.

However, before Remia could do or say anything else, that person, Mari, stated that she would go check the terrain and simply left. Remia sighed. "Oh dear... it seems this will be a difficult group..." she needed to say that out loud, somehow. She was well-aware that she could be a bit of an oddball in some senses. After all, she wasn't the type that made friends easily despite being kind and relatively cheerful. It was always as though she had built a barrier around her and she did not seem to connect with people, and did not seem to be able to have others connect with her. It was a trait she had 'inherited' from her sister, although Remia was a bit more skilled at hiding this fact.

A Clayman's Finale

Salia's idea hadn't quite gone exactly as she had expected. Or perhaps it had. They were alive and the first boulder had been stopped, even if at the expensed of being thrown against the wall and bouncing to the ground. It did hurt. However, the holder could stand still. Not in the greatest shape, but she was still fine, after all. However, it was clear she lacked the strength to stop a second boulder. Even if Adeline's spirit helped. Even then, it would be impossible to manage...

"Ugh...! I have no idea!!" she replied to Adeline to the obvious question. The ground was shaking as if an earthquake was involved. Was that possible? It seemed too violent for it to be a trap... surely? She took the spear and helped herself stand up. It was important they reacted quickly, whatever they were to do! Salia smiled, as if she was looking down on herself, being unable to do anything but to accept the challenge that had presented itself. Adeline had Sonneillon to help and was in fact now scooping her up in its arms. The other girl, in the meantime, would have to protect herself. That was a bit more of a problem...

"I say we move onwards!". It was reckless. But while the 'earthquake' was going on, no other boulder was coming towards them and apparently no trap was acting. It could be, or it may do so later on. But at that moment, it wasn't. Which was good news for them, Salia thought. "We may be able to do it!" she insisted, changing the spear to her sword. At that point, she even felt she would be able to successfully stop a boulder by destroying it with her sword. Such was her confidence at the point. Of course, if they were to succeed, confidence was one important thing they needed...

Normally, people would be taken aback by Fran's looks. However, Diane was absolutely delighted and kept conversating with the woman about the shades of her purple-dyed hair and praising the way the turban was bound so it looked like a scarf. Even though it was supposed to be a turban!! Diane thought it was genius. Diane herself was wearing loose clothes that mixed the sandy colours with the occasional spark of pink that she usually wore. Her hair remained relatively wild, as always, and she kept showing her amazement at nearly any little thing they saw. It was marvelous!

Particularly, the glass walls, pillars and floors were striking. As they should be! Despite sometimes displaying traits of an airhead, Diane knew better and did not even get too close to these glass structures, knowing their temperatures would be really high. Of course, there were the lizards too, which the girl found quite cute. Common sense told her she should not get close. But she could surely get one of these? After all, the baby lizards had no teeth... how dangerous could they be? In the end, she deemed it better not to try anything that might put others in danger.

"It IS amazing!!" Diane replied to Fran as she stated the obvious. Well, maybe not a country but a town... or a city... or a society anyway!!
Sorry that I'm a bit late... (recurring thing).

Put Diane on Crouching Tiger then! :)

It was definitely a change of pace for Remia. From the extremely cold fields and ice caves to the seaside mission. Who would have thought. It was a welcome change, nonetheless, for the young holder who had decided that the best way to chase for her sister was to stay alive and try to meet as many people as she could, trying to figure out where she was... and perhaps even meet her. Not that it was a great plan, but she didn't know better and she wasn't the planning type, after all. The city was quite relaxing at first but all that relaxation went out of the window the moment she met with the rest of the team and heard the orders. She was a bit annoyed at how they were treated. What about unprovoked stabbing? As if they were beasts unable to control themselves... Most likely, the guy who was talking to them, this Simon Getskilled, did not take part in proper missions either way.

Either way, crowd control seemed easy... as easy as annoying. They were acting as bad cops. Police people who would have to look like the hated authority. Somehow, people hated authority. She could see why and even understand them but didn't people realise there is a certain need for order in this world?! Remia chuckled at herself, since she was never too much of an order person either way... maybe being with the Library allowed her to understand such things even if she did not practice them herself.

Of course, things were never easy in missions, right? Somehow, Remia wondered if easy missions actually existed. Or, more than easy, the word would be 'simple'... "Never let your guard down! Or at least become skilled enough so that you can let your guard down" Lancelot's voice echoed within Remia's head. The man that used to be a knight back in his world. A loyal knight serving a great king... a really skilled knight that was famous for his skills even amongst his peers. And he was happy to teach stuff to Remia. Almost as a new challenge that he would have to face. After encountering the Lady of the Lake back in their last mission, Lancelot had been less talkative for a while, but lately he was coming back to his old self. And again, he was right with his advice.

"Miss Eowyn!" she greeted in an overly polite way, as if to joke around. "I am very pleased to share teams with a face I know. I look forward to working with you once again" and proceeded to respectfully bow to Eowyn. Seeing her worried face, however, she laughed a bit. "Oh, Eowyn! It really is a delight to be with someone I know and I trust!!" she was a strong fighter and Remia felt she could trust her. And somehow, she felt less nervous as well, as sometimes it was awkward, being with nobody she knew from before.

Finally, Remia turned to the new faces. "Pleased to meet you. My name's Remia, 16 years old. I hope we can get along well". For some reason, she was being, if not chatty, kind of lively for the day. And that was a good thing, of course.

Its okay, you're not the only person out there wanting to be a great artist... Me included.I've tried to learn how to draw, but you know, not everyone has the talent for it. So I've picked up writing instead.... Though that's kinda limited success too I guess.

Thanks for the support! Haha. But the thing is my grandmother's grandfather was a relatively famous artist and my uncle draws really well, which only makes it more of an embarrassment for me, not to be able to draw at all. Even my brother seems to be better off than me, although he seems to only be able to copy from an existing image and still not venturing into the ins and outs of adding color. Of course, both my parents are bad at drawing too so in a way, it was expected...

Oh, Kestrel; add Remia to Free Billy, please! :)
