The Citadel was a relatively familiar place, safer than most enough that when Viva finished up the SIRIUS's refueling she had no qualms about darting away to enjoy the rest of her leave. And Viva had very much enjoyed leave. Feeling real sunlight on her face and wind in her hair always put a silly smile on her face, remembering when her parents would take them on outings on strange planets...the good times in her childhood.
After only the first hour she could feel the sunburn crisping her skin, her freckles standing stark against her pale skin, so her first stop was to one of the local drugstores and nearly drowned herself in uv-protective lotion. Still, she'd put up with a little burn to feel real sunshine every once in a while.
Her next stop was wherever her nose took her first, the scents of local cuisine drawing her through the bustling marketplace from one tasty entree to the next. Here, a portly man cooking something on a barbecue that while looking dubious caused her mouth to water, and there a bakery serving up sumptuous sweet bread rolls with glittering sugars. She had yet to leave a planet hungry.
She also made sure not to eat all her credits right away- which had been a bad habit for her in the past. The rest of her funds were spent on some 'personal preserves' of food snacks to stash away in her bunk: Dried fruit and nuts, a small box of delicate chocolates, and some sweet fruits preserved in tiny bottles of alcohol- soaking up all that rummy goodness for a off-shift treat. All the kinds of things that would last a good long while out in space- although she'd yet to have any of her goodies spoil on her, the temptation to snack is a hard thing to shake when one is alone on the bridge.
She also managed to nab a few local sounds, musicians that hadn't quite broken into the interstellar scene yet. Nothing quite as good as White Noise Blackout, or The Kilonova Kruzers... but she'd liked what she heard so far and so she'd bought a clip or two to try.
She was sitting at one of the open air bakery cafes on the main market street, enjoying a cool fruity concoction and a huge toasty delicious soft braided pretzel when she happened to glance at the time and see just how much of it had passed. Shooting down the dregs of her drink she hopped off the stool and headed to the street, slinging her rucksack full of goodies and her flight jacket over her shoulder as she chewed the last end of her pretzel.
Viva trotted her way down the market taking in the sights, she was not in too much of a hurry as being the pilot- it wasn't very likely that she'd be left behind. But she didn't want to be too late for starting liftoff either, made the captain grumpy.
She was just passing by one of the more seedier looking bars when a familiar gleam caught her eye and a huge grin spread across her face as she abruptly changed direction and made a beeline towards her fellow shipmate.
"Well lookit what we have here," Vee said as she threw an arm over Anora's shoulder and snuggled up to her on the other side, "Now what's a fine girl like you doing in a place like this? Haha, Howya enjoy leave Selen? I would have escorted you myself, but you know the Sirius is my first love."
"Come on, you're not doing anything important here right? Leave is about over anyways, you should walk with me back to the ship- lovely ladies like us shouldn't be alone in a rough place like this." She finished with an exaggerated wink and a very tongue in cheek expression, "If you ask nicely I'll even let you carry my bag."
