"And I am Nadeline, charmed, I'm sure." Nadeline responded in all seriousness, even holding out her hand. It was usually customary to offer a hand to the opposite gender, but Emiri knew that Nadeline didn't quite catch his tone. She swatted her hand away, and the blonde recoiled. "Oh, why, I apologize, I must blend in better. Quite a difficult task. Surely I will be taking you and Emelia--Emiri's lead." She was talking mostly to herself, and Emiri could only stare at her. Exactly how did the two ever get along? The girl was clueless! Emiri shot Jaakuna an apologetic look, though she did motion to Nadeline and made a swirling motion with her finger. Clueless or nuts, she never failed to surprise her, really.

When Jaakuna actually responded to Nadeline, however, that much did surprise her, though none more so then when he pulled her close once more, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. He was so close again. Her mind instantly went to their moment in the airship, and she was pretty sure her face matched his jacket. "Absolutely! It's so romantic!" Nadeline eagerly nodded, and Emiri had half a mind to kick her again. Before she could even protest or clarify, however, Nadeline then furrowed her brow. "I really do hate to interrupt, but I have some information that could possibly shed some light on a few things. Though, I didn't think you'd be in Rabanastre, but the fates are smiling on us, so we may as well take advantage." She patted the tome in her hands, and with the other grabbed the bag of clothes. She put on a mischievous smile as she added, "Now I feel like a third wheel~" And broke into a fit of giggles. She was having much, much too fun with this. "Anyway...is there somewhere private we can go?"
:D
"You'll regret that~" Emiri called as she let her feet take her into her little adventure. Not even in the palace did she see so many clothes (the palace had enough to clothe the entire capital). She eyed the many employees, once more feeling a pang of jealousy at their golden locks, though she perked up as one of them approached her. Her skin was tanned, making her hair stand out more, and her lips were colored a nice red. Emiri suddenly wished she weren't so pale.

"Welcome to Blanche, are you looking for anything in particular?" The lady spoke, showing off her dazzling smile.

No wonder there were so many women here. The employees were drop dead gorgeous and wore merchandise from the store; no doubt the women probably tried to match them, or at the very least imitate them. Still, Emiri gave in to temptation and let the lady guide her through the many shelves, picking this shirt and that skirt and this dress and pretty soon Emiri had a pile in her arms nearly as big as she was. She made her way to the changing room and began nitpicking. Iit was a quick process, as, once again, her chest often made the choices for her. She was about to go back out when the lady poked her head in.

"Terribly sorry, I just found this and thought you'd look adorable in it." She procured a beige dress, and Emiri lifted it up to look at it. Why did it look so small? Still, the lady had already left with everything she didn't want. It wouldn't be any harm to try it on, right? But adorable? I'm twenty three! I'm not a child! She griped as she pulled it over her head.

It was very form fitting, but she thanked the gods that her chest managed to fit. The sleeves had a slight puff to them, it hung just above her knees, the back was laced together and a cute ribbon was on the back of her waist. It really was adorable, though she didn't much like how much younger she looked in it. She already had issues with people thinking she was still in school.

Emiri stepped out with her wish list, looking around for the employee. "You have good taste, I never would have guessed with your boring choices back at the castle." A woman spoke, catching her attention.

That voice...! Emiri whirled around, nearly bumping into the source of the voice. "Nadeline?!"

"The one and only, thank you." Nadeline wrinkled her nose at the shirt on top of Emiri's pile. "By the way, that color is dreadful on you. For you, I would go for anything demure, feminine. Like that dress, it's adorable~"

Emiri threw down the blouse and placed her hand on her hip. "What in the world are you doing here? And...what in the world are you wearing?"

Nadeline mimicked Emiri, placing a hand on her hip, though she carried a tome in the other. No, she wasn't wearing the same plain shirt and pants from Bhujerba, her outfit seemed much more costume like. Her shirt (if she could call it that) left little to the imagination as she showed her stomach and chest, her plaited miniskirt and low boots were the complete opposite of the usual Nadeline. "I can tell you somewhere private, the walls have ears." She replied, lightly tousling her hair. "Also I'm incognito, so to speak, so obviously I needed a new outfit that was more fitting to someone that was more on the common side. I thought you'd like it."

You stick out like a cockatrice among chickens. Emiri thought, raising an eyebrow at her. "That's a lot of skin showing. It's...look, I'll...fine, fine, fine. Miss! I'll take these!"

The employee approached the pair, though her eyes and Nadeline's locked for just a moment. The two seemed to be judging the other's appearance, though it lasted all of three seconds as the employee looked at Emiri. "What a darling choice, will that be all?"

Emiri dropped whatever else she had picked out onto the woman's arms, and took Nadeline by the hand as she approached Jaakuna. "Returning to the scene of the crime, that is an amateur mistake, Sky Pirate." Nadeline stated as Emiri paused in front of him.

She ignored her. "We just need to pay, and this one has something to tell us, apparently."

"Are you on a date?" Nadeline asked curiously. Emiri kicked her in response. "How rude! It was a perfectly good question!"
The voice still bugged Emiri, but for the moment, she ignored it. She let herself get dragged along, though for the moment remained quiet. Returning to the Dalmascan heat was dreadful. That was probably why Jaakuna opted to take off his shirt, she didn't blame him. She could already feel her ponytail sticking to the back of her neck, and repeatedly swiped it off her. The two weaved through the bazaar, pushing through crowds and avoiding bumping into people. She personally loved Rabanastre as it was, maybe that's why she always found herself going back every once in a while. Despite how many people there were, the streets actually seemed somewhat emptier then usual. It was somewhat odd, but she dismissed it for the moment.

As she spotted her shop, it was her turn to pull on Jaakuna. She giddily guided him inside, revealing a quaint, yet somehow massive boutique. The placed was decorated quite plainly, though it let its wares speak for them. Various clothes were on the shelves, various women pulling shirts and pants and the like around. The employees were all blondes, each one wearing similar ponytails and scarves and assisting customers as they pondered what to buy. Emiri was bouncing on her feet, looking around. She had seen the shop before but didn't get the chance to buy anything; now that someone else had offered, however, she could feel the shopping bug already.

"Isn't it charming?" She asked Jaakuna excitedly as she looked around. Where would she even start?
She was slightly disappointed that it had to end, but then again, maybe it was for the best. Emiri let out a huff of air as she begged her heart to beat normally, though managed to (finally) regain her composure. She did smirk slightly, picturing the horrid look on her mother's face if she ever found out she was frolicking with a Sky Pirate. Wait, wasn't that was Nadeline had said?

She cleared her throat, though she did turn to him, rummaging her pocket for some gil. "Mmm, I suppose that would be best." She said. She was about to voice that she was tired of having dresses that were too tight but held her tongue. Running a hand through her hair, she wandered over to her room, sweeping her bag off the floor. She emptied out some things she had collected from her hunt, the rewards earned from roaming monsters, so to speak. A few Wolf Pelts, some Cockatrice Feathers, and a beak of a Dive Talon she had encountered (and barely defeated).

Once she repacked them into her bag, Emiri looked at Jaakuna. He seemed somewhat preoccupied. She dismissed it and waved at him. "Let's get going, shall we?"

"Come now, don't tell me you've never seen a sword before?"

Emelia blinked in confusion, staring at the sword that was placed in her hand. It was heavier than it looked; the soldiers made swinging them look easy. She weighed it, her fingers tracing along the blade carefully. It was quite sharp, and the handle felt difficult to hold. She placed both hands on the hilt of the sword, raising it. She then frowned, turning to the blonde haired girl that had given it to her in the first place.

Nadeline had her own sword too, and was swinging it around, mimicking moves that she had seen some soldiers do. She looked at Emelia, then gave her an exasperated look. "What is your problem, really? All you ever do is frown and look confused at things."

"My apologies, Your Highness." Emelia tried to swing, and underestimated her own strength. The weight of the blade made her lose her balance, and she toppled to the ground.

The girl burst out laughing and held her sides as an irritated Emelia lifted herself up. Once she calmed down, she helped her wipe the grass off her dress. "Father is finally permitting me to take lessons. Recreationally, of course, but I think it's always handy to know how to defend yourself." She stated rather proudly, pointing her sword in the air. "Not only will I be beautiful, I will be dangerous as well!"

About as dangerous as a Dalmascan Cactuar. Emelia thought to herself, picking up the sword once more. "What exactly are we going to do with these?" She asked.

Nadeline sported a wicked grin, and with a flourish pointed her sword at her opponent. "Why, we are to duel, of course!"

"What? Are you mad? What if we hurt ourselves?" The girl asked worriedly.

"Oh posh, we are ladies! What is worse than a mere scratch?" She then motioned for her to wield her weapon. "Now, en guarde!"

Still unsure, Emelia reluctantly held her sword at the ready. She made sure to grasp it firmly, eyeing Nadeline. She was much too eager for this, really. Nadeline rushed at her, and Emelia let out a yelp as their blades clashed. She nearly fell over but regained her footing as Nadeline swung again. She anticipated her attack, and found it much easier to defend herself this time. Apparently Nadeline noticed this as well, and she swung her blade horizontally. Emelia staggered, nearly being yanked by the blade (her refusal to let it go was amazing) and she pathetically swung herself. It was a wild swing, though Nadeline evaded it with ease.

"Too slow!" She yelled, and dashed forward. Now the girl expected Emelia to dodge, or at the very least, block her attack. However, in that instant, she panicked, dropping her sword and throwing her arms up in front of her. Nadeline's sword sliced a gash on Emeliai's arm, and she fell to the ground. "Oh no! Are you alright?!" Nadeline dropped her sword, rushing over to her.

The brunette clutched her arm, blood seeping out of her wound. The pain was a foreign thing. Sure, she had hurt herself many times as a child, but nothing compared to this. She cried, tears streaming down her cheeks as she held her arm. It hurt, it hurt so much. Nadeline froze at the sight of the wounded girl's blood spilling onto the grass.

Luckily for the pair, Grant had heard the two fighting and had come to investigate. He quickly dropped down to Emelia's side, taking her arm gingerly. He placed his hand over her wound, magicks spilling out of his hand and sewing up the gash. In a mere minute, it was gone, as if it had never happened. The pain, however, still lingered, though the Cura did feel soothing.

"What were you thinking, Nadeline?" Grant reprimanded her, helping Emelia to her feet.

The blonde huffed, placing her hands on her hips. "We were just playing. It's not my fault that Emelia is a coward."

Emelia narrowed her eyes at Nadeline. "Honestly, you have lost a gear in that pretty head of yours! Anyone who has never gotten proper instruction on using a weapon is bound to only hurt themselves. You are lucky you didn't cut her head off!" Grant reprimanded her. "A sword has no place next to a princess except if it belongs to her prince or her guard, anyway."

Nadeline crossed her arms, glaring at Emelia, who glared back. "What good is a doll if you can't play with her?" She muttered under her breath.

Grant checked the brunette, making sure she didn't get hurt anywhere else, and wiped a stray tear from her face. "And you, young lady, should know better than to go along with Nadeline's shenanigans. "

She nodded, grasping both hands together as she looked at the ground. "My apologies, Your Highness, for causing you trouble."

He then smiled, kissing her forehead. "We can't have anything happening to my future bride, can we?" He asked gently, catching a stray hair of hers and tucking it behind her ear.

Nadeline sighed, watching the pair. She hated the way Emelia would just go along with everything Grant said. So what if they were getting married? Her backbone was about as flexible as a lizard's tongue was! "I suppose I must ask for your forgiveness as well, cousin." Nadeline spoke, rolling her eyes. Emelia glared at her once again, and Nadeline stuck her tongue out. Well, normally she was docile, but anytime Nadeline upset or angered her, she would always give her that weak, annoying glare, like it was threatening or something.

The Empress sat upon her chair, her eyes closed, her expression an enigma. The Viera pair had failed--which was actually odd. She wasn't particularly angry, no, she was confused. The two had lost to the weapon and a Sky Pirate. The two Viera were far more experienced, far more powerful. She was displeased. Greatly displeased. General Harris had apologized maybe a thousand times. She wasn't going to blame her general on his subordinates' failures, but apparently, he had taken it to heart. This was the first time in a long time that they had actually failed him, so perhaps he was just as shocked as she was. Whatever the case, the two had received their punishment and their lectures.

But that was not what needed her attention at the moment. Her niece had come to see her.

Reia opened her eyes to look at Nadeline. The young girl greatly resembled herself in her youth. She was tall, looking older then she was, her eyes a dark blue, her skin pale, and her beautiful golden locks were long and numerous. She was her protégé, so to speak, and apparently the young girl had held her aunt in high regards. Still, their relationship wasn't all smooth sailings, as the two heavily disagreed on war versus peace. Reia blamed it on her age, however, as the thing was still much too young to realize the cruelties of the world.

"Your Grace." Nadeline greeted her.

"My precious Nadeline, you gave your father quite the scare." Reia spoke. Nadeline nodded, though she looked unsure about something. "Speak your worries, child."

Nadeline rubbed her arm, though she took in a deep breath. "Your Grace...why...why are you after Emelia?"

At this Reia perked an eyebrow. "My brother would like his doll back." She answered as-a-matter-of-factly. "As a big sister, it is my duty to return my brother's toys to him. You must understand, he is fixated on her becoming his bride. My father's death has him quite distressed, you see. I am hoping that she can fix that."

The young girl shifted uncomfortably. Uncle Grant was once engaged to Emelia, this she did recall. She didn't like Reia's choice of words, but she couldn't say much about it. She wanted to believe Reia, and she didn't think she was lying, but the entire truth wasn't been spoken, either. Did she want to tread that territory, however? She was already in trouble with her father, she needed to choose her words carefully.

"If only I had managed to convince her to come home...I have to ask for your forgiveness." She stated, testing Reia's reaction. "We met in Bhujerba, had I known how much she was needed, I would have been more successful. As she had said she had business elsewhere, I simply said my farewells."

Really now. The Empress narrowed her eyes. Vlyn and Aloa did mention finding Nadeline in Bhujerba, so it wasn't too surprising. Still, she wasn't sure of the girl's sudden interest. She leaned forward in her seat, trying to read the girl's intentions. Nadeline was a good child, always respectful. She was also hardheaded, though Reia herself had yet to see it. She also had a sense of adventure, so to speak, thus her frequent "disappearances". Reia wouldn't be surprised at all if she took off the next day.

"Should you have the fortune of running into her again, be sure to let her know her fiancé misses her." Reia said. "Was that all?"

Nadeline was about to reply when the doors behind her opened. She turned to see a very sour Vlyn. He paused before Nadeline, giving her a short bow, then went to Reia. "Your Eminence, the Council awaits you in the meeting room." He said, bowing before her.

The woman rolled her eyes, though she did get up off her seat. "Yes, yes, I haven't forgotten them, I will depart now." She patted Nadeline's shoulder, then left, though she did give Vlyn a nod.

"Tell me, Your Highness, what are you up to now?" Vlyn asked her coyly, poking her cheek. "I recognize that look on your face, it practically screams 'I'm thinking of something that will get Vlyn in trouble' you know."

Nadeline scowled, placing her hands on her hips. "Now, you see here, Vlyn, I was fine on my own, you were the one who dragged me back here." She responded. "Though I suppose I can tell you if you promise not to say anything."

The Viera shook his head, tugging some of her hair. "I do believe there is no brain under these lovely locks, is that why your hair is so long?"

"I'm going to find Emelia and set things straight." She ignored his comment as she swatted his hand away. "No matter what happens, she cannot return. War is on the horizon and it seems Archadia is just as eager as my aunt is. So I'm going to go track her down."

Vlyn threw his arms up in the air, clearly exasperated. "Your father will have a field day when he hears this."

"YOU need not say a word."

"A word? How about a sentence?"

"...I beg your pardon?"

"Nevermind." Vlyn coughed, scratching the back of his head. "I wish you well, though you do realize if you're going after the girl you and I will cross paths?"

"You need only to forget you saw me, it's as simple as that." Nadeline grinned.

"Your wisdom is truly astounding, Your Highness."

"Are you making fun of me?"

"Perish the thought."
Jaakuna was kissing Emiri. He was really, really kissing her. She didn't even mean to start it--well, it was more of an action then a thought, and maybe she did act without thinking. It was supposed to last maybe just a few seconds. Of course it was a little late for that, though it was safe to say the barely noticed the wall behind her, her attention was more on what was in front of her, so to speak. Or was it? She couldn't really think straight. Or think, for that matter.

She couldn't quite understand what was happening, even if she was the one that had technically initiated it. He was kissing her, sure, but knowing what he was doing and realizing what he was doing were two completely different things. She had always pictured giving her first kiss (specifically giving it...sadly this was not her first time receiving a kiss, though in the back of her head she pretended it was) away to a knight in shining armor on a white horse, the result of growing up reading various fairy tales. This, however, was so much more passionate, really. Romantic? Perhaps it was just lust. Whatever it was, she was enjoying it.
Oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no

The instant he had that smug look on his face she cursed herself yet again. She just had to go and open her big mouth, didn't she? Gods, she really was stupid! A fool! An idiot! She let out a small sigh of relief, though, as she finally felt like she could breathe. For whatever reason she had held in her breath, as if she was waiting for something else (Something else?! Like what?!) aand was glad to finally release it. She couldn't even muster any sort of comeback or denial, she felt absolutely flabbergasted. Of course, it didn't end there, as she had hoped (had she? or did she want something else...? What?! No! What was she thinking?!) as he once more got close. Bells and whistles and sirens and alarms went off in her head. Like super close. His whisper sent a chill down her spine, and she could feel her face turning red again.

"Wh-what--I just--Th-that is to say...wh-what I mean--b-but--" He was so close, her heart was beating so fast, and it seemed anytime he was this close she had apparently lost the ability to speak in complete sentences. Her eyes briefly flickered to his lips (why exactly did she even look there?!) and she tried (very much so) so regain her composure. He was just teasing. That's all. And yet she couldn't stop herself.
Emiri had, once again, shot herself in the foot, it seemed. She silently cursed herself, though let out a somewhat irritated huff at being called stupid. Well, perhaps it was true after all. Once more she had figuratively and maybe somewhat literally had doused a fire with oil. Still, she had somewhat sympathized with him. At the very least she had managed to run from her own engagement. Jaakuna then advanced closer and closer. On a reflex she backed away, but soon she found herself pinned between him and the wall. He's too close. He's way too close...! She felt somewhat feverish at this point, feeling his body pressed against hers.

"That's..." Oh no, there it was again, that feeling creeping up on her. She could feel her head swimming as her heart beat faster. Oh no, oh no, she had to stop, she just had to.stop thinking that way. Oh no, she really did like him. She blamed his eyes; they were mesmerizing, and she found herself trapped under his intense gaze. "I just...I know." She lamely tried to explain that she had been in a similar situation, but her mind was like putty. Really, she was being ridiculous! Years of etiquette training all coming crashing down! And yet in a twisted way, as she contemplated his words, she felt herself speak before she thought about it and blurted out, "Yes. She got to have you after all." Her first coherent sentence.

If the gods struck her down now they would be too merciful.
The brunette was quite surprised when her hand was grabbed, and as she was about to turn she was yanked towards Jaakuna. He held her tightly, and for just a moment, she got lost in his eyes. They were quite a nice shade of green, the polar opposite of his fiery personality. Why, they were lovely--is this how others felt when they say her eyes? She stared at him for a while, but when she caught herself, she felt her face flush entirely. She didn't need a vanity mirror to know her cheeks were probably as red as his sweater Oh gods am I starting to actually like him? In a panic, she vehemently denied that option, but it did make sense. The gods have a funny sense of humor, having me start to like my would be kidnapper. Maybe it was just yesterday's events. She remembered embracing him.

If her blush could get any redder, it would happen then and there. She opened her mouth to speak, but she didn't know what to say, really. "I-I told you...I was...curious...I just--you didn't say anything, and so..." Oh, of only the ground could swallow her whole! He probably didn't realize how close they were, but she certainly did. But she had to say something. Anything. But...what? I think I'm starting to like you and I'm jealous of Savayna? Hah! The fates are having a field day right now! "Just--jealous--" She blurted out nervously, stammering to make a coherent sentence. "Y-You know...I...I was...like you once..." Her expression fell, as she once again remembered him. "You probably proposed and everything...and she said yes of her own accord...I'm jealous." She wasn't even sure if she made any sense, really. But she did say it.

She was jealous.
She had half a mind to rip off the dress right then and there and trek to Rabanastre to get new clothes. She didn't understand why she was so ticked off at this bit of information. She even figured as much, so why? She tapped the cup rapidly with her nail, once more remembering Nadeline's words. Yeah, there was a lot she didn't know about him. But maybe, just maybe it was better that way. For now, anyway. Right? Right...No, it wasn't right. She plain just didn't want to know. Why? Was she afraid of knowing something terrible? Or did she not want to hear him tell her that he still loved Savayna?

That right there stirred her up once more, and she found herself bearing a very angry expression. Taking in a deep breath, she calmed herself down, absentmindedly picking at an imaginary piece of lint on her clothing. "I was just wondering. They're quite beautiful, she has very good taste." She lied right through her teeth, though she stood up. Leaving her cup where it was, she started walking back to her room. What was wrong with her? Why was she acting so weird? There was a plethora of mixed feelings in her head right now, and she didn't know what was going on, really.
