2 of the 9 have not met the expectations and have been kicked out, leaving us with 7 active players. So far 2 people have expressed interest but neither has submitted a character sheet as of now.
Sekimoto Yuriko

"Ugh..."

Though she had stationed herself in a building that she had thought would be at a prudent distance from the scene of the battle, Sekimoto Yuriko was almost immediately brought down to her knees the moment Berserker made its presence known. That intense and unrelenting pressure felt like a hammer trying to nail her down to the floor with each moment that passed by. Originally, Yuriko had intended to remain by Saber's side, in order to both provide immediate support and avoid unfortunate accidents, such as bumping into an Assassin Class Servant. But now, with this she understood why Saber had insisted that remaining close to a fight between two Heroic Spirits was dangerous. That sensation of dread, that aura of absolute command that Berzerker exuded... Might have killed her outright if she had been close enough to the source. Though Sekimoto's method of keeping people away from the Tokyo Tower was rudimentary at best, she was glad that she had erected that bounded field to at least reduce the number of casualties.

"..."

As soon as the blonde Magus was allowed to recover, she immediately sprung into action and activated her magic circuits. She felt a surge of pain run throughout her body as she channeled Magical Energy through it, turning nerves into circuits and activating her mystic code. At the same time, she released three spider-like puppets she had been keeping inside a small box. Though initially just tiny cubes of wood, the figures quickly unfolded to transform into decently sized constructs, at least one meter tall. Controlled remotely by her almighty Formal Wear, they'd be able to search for enemy masters as well as record the events of the epic battle taking place below. After all, these puppets couldn't feel anything and thus were unaffected by the Servant's aura.

---But there was more.

After all, 'puppet remote-control' was not the only function Convergence could carry out, and only a fool would believe otherwise. Yuriko had long since surpassed the levels of an average tailoring Magi, not to mention this particular toy of hers was supposed to be her life's work, a Mystic Code that wouldn't be available in the market for the next thirty years, but would surely become a must-have after its release. In other words, a piece of equipment capable of turning a mediocre Magus into a superb spellcaster. With nothing but a thought, Convergence executed an immediate analysis of the structure were Yuriko was hidden and all of the nearby buildings and streets within its range, relaying all the information to the young woman at real time. You see, while Sekimoto's line of work required her to have knowledge on structural analysis, with Convergence she could extend its application and range for it to be suitable for a real battlefield, using it to easily locate her foes. Granted, the outcome was closer to a surface movement radar than a fully-detailed battlefield map, as it was unable to tell apart friend from foe, let alone detect spiritual beings or the activation of magecraft. Convergence would then use this information to send the puppets in different directions. One will devote its existence solely to recording the fight taking place below, while the other two would take a more active role and be sent towards suspicious points on the area.

Fast Search // Fast Explore
This is a new feature that player characters have gained access to. It allows them to search for objects of interest in their surroundings, but quickly, so not much time is wasted. Though the chances of finding something of note is lower than what you would get from an entire turn worth of exploring, it allows the players to both search and do something else within the same turn without having to wait until the next update. In order to Fast Search or Fast Explore, a player must first submit a post in the OOC mentioning the Game Master with the clear intent of using this mechanic and specifying if they´d like to limit it to a specific object or if it will target the entire room they are in. Note that depending on the circumstances, you might not have access to the latter, especially if you are in danger or under attack. Once the GM reads a post, they will respond as soon as possible with the results of your search and the player will have the obligation to include both the search and its consequences in their next post, so don´t come crying if you accidentally trigger a trap! A player may only use this feature once per round.

Because Hideaki's update was meant to act as the tutorial set up for this mechanic, but I Wasn't able to post it in time due to life getting in the way, this round, Hideaki will be allowed to post a second time, if he wishes, after learning the result of his search. Speaking of which, here it is.

Sekimoto Yuriko

The Black Lotus, as the Clock Tower had nicknamed her, followed Saber out of the eyes of the public. The Servant had brought up a very good point: Not every place could be employed as a battlefield this early into the night. Without proper preparative measures, such as a bounded field, the risk of a mundane coming across a supernatural scene was too high for comfort. Though the Holy Church would have been the one to respond if such event ever happened, Yuriko did not want to owe them anything, thus losing the position of power she earned after designing their last protective vest. More importantly, Sekimoto, despite voluntarily jumping into a death-match, was not really fond of bloodshed or getting others involved in her own problems. So, with no argument to retaliate, she moved away from the luxury of the restaurant where they had finished eating dinner only minutes ago.

"..."

Saber loyalty might have been peerless, but it was not hard to notice her eagerness to fight behind that mask of chivalry. It was only natural, after all, she was a Heroic Spirit who had accepted the call in order to do exactly that. To oppose the idea would be the same as going against her own purpose. Regarding this, it would be a lie to say Yuriko didn't feel a little bit troubled. Though there had been no clashes personality-wise, the way each one of them was used to approaching combat was completely different. It wouldn't be a surprise if Odette, as a Saber Class Servant, preferred a straightforward approach that took full advantage of her container. By this point, the Magus had no doubt the woman was more than capable of storming an opposing team's workshop by herself. On the other hand, Yuriko excelled at drawn-out battles in a fixed, neutral spot. Being a human being before a Magus, having such a vast array of defensive tools meant her offense was lacking, and thus, she was not fit for workshop raids. If everything is taken in consideration, then it shouldn't be difficult to understand why Saber's concealed insistence on getting things done was making the blonde feel a little out of her element.

"Alright. If they are not coming to us, then we'll go looking for them."

But do not be fooled: As a pride who has been given the color designation of 'Black', Sekimoto Yuriko is no pushover. She wouldn't have got this far if she did not possess the ability to adapt. In hindsight, she was being selfish by forcing Saber to abide by her rules when the two of them were a team. This was an exercise of give and take. To her Servant, who had showed her an unmatched resolve, she would respond with the attitude a Master of such Servant should have. Well then, if they were going to make a move on the first night, she had strong guesses of where the other Masters -provided they were smart enough- would be headed. Granted, Yuriko was not born in Tokyo, but as a Japan native, she had a good grasp of its leyline locations.

The duo arrived at the Tokyo Tower several minutes before Daisuke and Berserker did. Sekimoto used this time to erect a bounded field across the area. It was strong enough to keep civilians away through a basic enchantment spell -convincing them there was nothing to be seen or done there- and yet subtle enough that only a Magus of pedigree would notice its presence as they ventured into it. This way, the risk of civilian exposure would be kept to a minimum without them having to be picky about where to have their fights.

It goes without saying that Yuriko saw the opposing Master was coming 'from a mile away'. Her puppet familiars had scouted him early as the duo really stood out from the crowd. Her suspicions were confirmed when the two of them walked into the bounded field, naturally resisting the effects of the spell cast to keep others away. Now, that's not to say that the two of them would be completely unaware of Saber and her Master's presence under all circumstances. Though this was a decent set-up ambush of sorts, there was no guarantee that it would work. Normally, Yuriko would have simply allowed herself to blend into the shadows. Having confirmed the identity of one Master, there was no need to rush into combat. But that was then and this was now: She wasn't working along in this matter.

"It's about time Saber, no, Odette. Show me what you are capable of."

@Duoya@SSW@KoL
Second update is up. Enjoy (might go back to add a few sprites and irrelevant NPC lines whenever I feel more refreshed).

Then, I regret to inform you that I've taken the decision to kick both @RisqueBoots@robocat out of the game given their inability to post since the RP started two weeks ago. Though I know the unfair ways in which life operates, as explained numerous times, updates will happen weekly no matter what and those who fail to keep up without proper comunication of it will be left behind. Let's try to avoid this happening again. If you encounter temporary life obstacles, please let me know either though the discord or this thread. You will be heard.

On the other hand, and as I've said, I'll be opening applications once more to fill the two slots that were just emptied. To join, the requisites will be the following:

  • Be interested and able to post at least once per week. It's casual so feel free to write either short posts or long posts, whatever feels more comfortable to you. But Post
  • Read the opening IC post and the next two updates to make sure you are up-to-date and that the setting still feels interesting to you.
  • Your characters will replace Sato Yui and Ishikawa Goben, following the School Scenario. In other words, you'll be working together.
  • Follow all other rules present in the opening post of the OOC
Player Characters: Date Nobu
Location: Outskirts - Jitsuryoku-hima's Cemetery (?)

It is because of this line of thinking that you are considered to be a weirdo, a black sheep amongst the members of your class. Whereas the normal human being would have either allowed themselves to be frightened by the implications of the date inscribed on the gravestone or pretended it was no more than a joke or perhaps a mistake, you went straight to the numbers and their supposed meaning, creating a connection that, to the untrained eyes, would never exist. Regardless of whether you are a genius or a complete idiot, it goes without saying that the words that escaped your mouth moments ago would do no good to your image. Or, at least, that should have been the case if the one kneeling in front of you was a normal person. And Murai Chikako is anything but. After all, there is hardly any mundane in the island who holds as much knowledge of the supernatural without being directly affiliated with it.

"..."

The girl does not reply, but her face manifests slight signs of irritation. The meaning behind the number one hundred and thirty seven is not exactly easy to explain when one does not have a specific topic to relate it to. Its a magical number not just associated with mysticism but science and religion as well. While someone like Sazae Yokoi would have been able to elaborate on it plenty (maybe making things up along the way), Chikako is not as talkative. It looks like she will not give you the answers you seek, at least not until you can somehow narrow down your search. Hell, that's what you can assume given the circumstances. Though the girl does not utter a single word, you are pretty sure she's not mute, so she must have a reason to keep her mouth shut.

Chikako: "Predictions indicate that A.I. will be able to fully blend in with humans by 2047"

---All of a sudden.

Your schoolmate says something strange in a manner that defies the laws of her usual self. Chikako is quiet and usually limits herself to using only a couple of words to communicate. This time, however, she has spoken an entire sentence as if she had been reading a headline from a newspaper article. Perhaps what's more intriguing is that it has nothing to do with the paranormal, per se. Creating an A.I. with said capabilities is something humanity will do, eventually. It might take thirty years, it might take a hundred, but if technology is allowed to advance without brakes, then the time will come. If that's the case, then why...? Is this girl even sane...? Instead of giving you the answers to the questions you saw desire, though, the world goes ahead and rewards your intellectual efforts with the worst encounter possible.

"Heh, I knew waiting near one of the spawn points wouldn't be a bad idea. Newbies always bring goodies with them."

The figure of a man emerges from the shadows and from a distance you can already tell that he means trouble. Your attention is immediately drawn to the dirty clothes he's wearing and then towards the knife in his hand. A homeless man... That is seemingly about to rob you.

"Okay kid, put everything -Food, electronics, whatever- on your bag and hand it over. Do it and I promise I'll hurt neither you nor the princess over there"

At first glance, there is nothing that separates this man from the ordinary criminal you'd see on the streets from time to time and the words he speak do little to indicate otherwise. That said, the moment he takes a step closer, your opinion changes.

Though he's clearly making an effort not to show it, he looks desperate.

Who knows what he may do if you don't do as he says.

Player Characters: Tsuchihana Ren & Amano Ayane & Amisaki Kyou
Location: Location Unknown - Parking lot (?)

@KyuuzenChanelling all the courage you can muster, you decide it will be your job to check what lies on the other side of the ambulance's back door. While there is no reason to believe it'll be anything bad, a feeling of dread washes over you as you reach for its handle. The reality you once knew is no more and you've seen it collapse with your own eyes. Your mind knows this and intends to take advantage of it, luring your thoughts towards an image of the worst case scenario. It hurts to admit it, but even if you aren't as expressive about this sort of thing, it wouldn't be a mistake to say that you're as scared as Arata is. Eventually, you take a deep breath and open it, relaying on the rest of your teammates to provide illumination.

Inside you find no human nor creature, but several signs of life. Used blankets, spare (possibly expired) food and a notebook. Though it initially defies your past notion of common sense, it appears that someone has been using this ambulance as their second home. In the end, your findings aren't exactly as useful to your cause as you would have expected, but urged to find some clues, you venture into the ambulance itself. Ignoring expendable items, you go straight for the notebook. Invading someone else's privacy is not really your cup of tea, but perhaps it would shed some light on what's going on. The moment your hand touches the notebook...

A strange feeling to the touch informs you that something is not right and you immediately pull back your hand to safety, startling everyone else in the process. Though it's a small quantity, your hand now has blood in it, and it's fresh. Whoever lives there must have left, injured, only a few minutes before your arrival, otherwise the blood would have been dry.

Worried, the Student Council President asks you to join them outside and you are urged to obey. You leave everything as is and get out of the ambulance. As soon as you do, the girl recklessly dives into the vehicle herself. Being confident and brave like few others, there's not stopping Kiyoko when she's like this. She comes back a few seconds later with the notebook in hand. It looks like she used a sheet to wipe off the crimson substance.

You all gather to read its contents under the combined light of your cellphones. Turns out the notebooks is pretty much a diary and is organized in several entries, a lot of which are illegible or have been outright torn off.

  • I don't know where I am. I am scared... And I cannot seem to be able to contact anyone. Oh God, the skies... What the hell is this place?
  • I've been doing my best to get by on my own. It's always dark, it's always night. I'm beginning to lose track of how much time has passed since I woke up inside this building.
  • Finally, I came across a group of survivors. Apparently, they arrived here long before I did and they are being kind enough to show me the ropes. According to them, this 'world' is called 'The Land of Shadows'. Creepy, huh?
  • I want to leave, but they say it’s a bad idea. It’s okay, though, I know someone who can help me.
  • Seeing a barricade has been erected at the entrance, I came down to the parking lot looking for another way out, but there's none, damn it-! That kid lied to me!
  • Hahaha-! It looks they can't come down here. I guess I've found a safe-zone of sorts. So long as I stay down here... They can't hurt me.
  • I heard their screams today and I did n-o-t-h-i-n-g~! Screams of fear, screams of pain, screams of agony! They got what they deserved and it was a bliss!

Everyone's sanity -1

Evidence suggest that the author’s mental health will only continue to deteriorate from that point forward. You figure it's for the best to leave it there...

Player Characters: Amari Hideaki & Sazae Yokoi & Tanaka Amélie
Location: Shopping District (?) - Mazonix

With Amélie acting as the vanguard, the group quietly moves through the expansive halls of the Shopping Mall. The more you walk, however, the more disturbing changes in your surroundings you manage to detect. At first it's the occasional barricade at the entrance of a shop, which is something your mind can overlook given the amount of riots that appear to have taken place, but when your eyes catch claw and bite marks on one wall and designs drawn in what appears to be blood in another, you have to pause and consider whether you are headed in the right direction.

@Seirei No Hai Out of curiosity, you leave Natsumi's side for a moment and decide to approach one of these drawings. The reason for doing so is simple: Without a shadow of a doubt, this has to be a magic circle-! The outer layer contains words written in a language you cannot understand, most likely ancient hebrew. But what draws your attention the most is the drawing contained within the circle. At first glance, it looks like a regular circle with a fancy design, perhaps an attempt to despict a hurricane. However, close inspection reveals the real message. It's dragon -or a lizard- chasing after its own tail with the intent of eating it. Now that's definitely familiar. Isn't that the symbol for-?

---Ugh... You are forced to take a couple steps back. Not by an invisible force, but rather the horrible stench that comes from it. Was this really drawn using blood? It almost seems surreal. You'd need a considerable amount to be able to create such an elaborate design, let alone repeat it all over the place.

... You decide not to delve on the thought for too long.

@DuthguyDoing your best to remain calm despite the madness that seems to surround you, you make a honest effort to stay clear from any suspicious marking or logos. As the group's advance comes to a halt, you claim an empty bench and use the time to practice some stress-relief exercises in order to remain calm. Right next to it is one of those tube-fashioned trash bins. There is a sticky note attached to it. It reads: 'use only during an emergency'. You are left puzzled by the meaning behind the message.

@VertigoYou venture a little ahead and reach a crossroad. If your memory serves you right and assuming everything is the same, a turn to the right and a walk of about a hundred meters should take the group straight to the exit. For an island so small, Mazonix sure is huge.

---Ah.

Your body moves before you can even process it. Normally, you'd be eager to meet new people, but instinctively understanding the danger of being approached by a number of shady invididuals wearing dark robes, your legs quickly throw you out of their field of vision just in time. Following your example, Toru silently does the same. Unfortunately, the rest of the group isn't as nimble.

@Seirei No Hai@DuthguyThey've taken notice of you.

Without saying a word, two cultists begin to advance towards the group, while the rest (two other people) decide to remain stationary.

Fear takes over. It's strange but you can hear the sound of your heart beating. Its rhythm increases the moment a bloody hood emerges from under one of the men's sleeves.

Encountered Cultist x4

But yeah, if anyone, be it lancer team or anyone nearby wants to take on Saber's team challenge, let us know
Expect the next update to land in about 38-40hs (If if finish it in time).

Warning: This is a moderately fast RP. To keep its intensity, I will give it my best to update it once per week. As explained in the rules, not being able to keep up with the pace of the game will not be tolerated. Being a group roleplay, your actions are needed for the group to be able to advance as a whole. Hence, missing the time to post for an update will mean I will temporarily gain control of it as a NPC to move the plot forward. Because it's understandable for someone to have a bad or busy week, this will come at no penalty. However, crossing the two-week territory is cause for termination of your character, following a case by case basis. In such scenario, a limited amount of slots may be open for new players to claim, replacing those that couldn't meet the RPs expectations. You've been warned.

Sekimoto Yuriko

It would be a lie to say that to say that being treated as a princess was an unpleasant experience. On the contrary, it was refreshing and immediately provided the boost of morale she had been in such a need for. Yet, it also felt awkward... As if Saber possessed a personality that did no longer exist within this world. It made it difficult for Yuriko to act like she was used to. Because Saber was so sure of herself and spoke with such strength and sincerity, finding an opening to tease her in any sort of way was impossible at this point. Hell, it was hard for her to remain composed after being relentlessly addressed as a princess by her Servant. In hindsight, she had no right to complain about anything: She had summoned a Servant of the Saber Class, and due to her code of chivalry, it was very unlikely that Odette, as she liked to be called, would turn on her. Truly, fortune seemed to be on Sekimoto's side that night.

"An enemy Servant, huh? I understand."

In a sense, the change in atmosphere helped Yuriko recover. She calmly listened as Saber addressed their current situation and later reinforced the fact that she would act under Sekimoto's orders. Whether it was fight or flight, the knight would surely obey. In spite of her unrivaled confidence, she was able to keep a level head. Saber understood that the odds of simply beating another Servant this early was unlikely, even though it was possible. That was good.

"Let them come to us."

Came Yoriko's conclusion, right before taking another sip of the cup of tea that had been served after the meal. Her honest feelings was that it was perhaps too early for her to be picking up opponents. Out of the Eight Masters in this war, she assumed at least half of them had performed the summoning ritual before her. In other words, the reason why going on the offensive was a reckless idea was twofold. First and foremost, neither did she excel at that sort of approach nor did she had access to her full magical reserves after the recent ritual. Then, if the Master and Servant in question had had more time to get to know each other, it would become a daunting task to overcome it with theirs. Although individually, these two reasons might not make much of a case, in an emergency, the could mean the difference between life and death. And, as there was seemingly no benefit from claiming the lives of another pair unless you emerge from this war at the victor, knowing to pick your battles was a must.

---However.

If Yuriko and Odette were the ones being attacked instead, the blonde Magus was convinced that it would be a whole different story. In battles of attrition, she was one to reign over her opponents and, with Saber's personal information concealed, a trade in that regard would surely be favorable if they manage to squeeze some information out of their foes.

"If they choose to fight, I'll unsheathe my blade -You- and defend our position. Allowing our pride to be tarnished is unacceptable, but making multiple enemies during the first night would be unwise. This city has eyes, Odette, and overwhelming an opponent may have unfavorable consequences. Listen: No matter what happens, I want you to use only as much power as you must."

The activation of your Noble Phantasm is forbidden; those final words never left Yuriko's mouth but a single glance at the determination portrayed in her eyes would be enough to convey the message.

Just in case, the Magus was already prepared. The hat she was wearing was an accessory that actually belonged to her main attire, diverting the attention from onlookers through an enchantment and disguising her personality to all others but the one sitting in front of her. Indeed, in this pair, both Master and Servant would be incognito.
