Kuroi listened to the man, ceasing any verbal or physical response until he finished his rather pretentious-sounding (albeit informative) speech. The vulpine looked at the dark elf before glancing back at the human and the other Demihuman. After taking in their appearance and scents once more, Kuroi set off behind the dark elf, making sure to keep a few meters behind him as he led them to the so-called safe haven. As they walked into the slums of the city, Kuroi met the passing glances of the street urchins and wanna-be thugs with a gaze of his own.

Upon arriving at the house, Kuroi merely looked at Baraian and acknowledged his words with a simple nod before sitting on the ground and closing his eyes as to meditate to pass the time. He didn't seem to be in a talkative mood.

Once night fell, Kuroi opened his eyes and stood up before following Baraian close behind yet again. The vulpine pondered about the current situation and would await him in the near future as he was led towards the mausoleums, eyeing the dark elf rather suspiciously. Seeing as Kuroi had already come this far, he merely followed the dark elf down the stairs once the passage had opened and into the encampment within the Temple. Seeing as there was nothing else to do until talked to, the vulpine picked a rather comfortable-looking corner, sat down, and merely stalked from afar, keeping a close eye on everyone, especially the dark elf who had led him to this place and those who tread near him.

Kuroi stayed silent, looking at the dark elf up and down. "And what is so invaluable that must be shown to a vulpine, a faun, and a human involved in this mess? What if I were to find myself at arrow point by the time we arrive at said temple, hm?" He asks, slowly lowering his fans. He flicked his wrist towards himself softly before hanging it from where it once was; Kuroi now only held one metal fan for protection's sake. "And if not me, how can I trust you won't slay the faun and the human? You pique my curiosity but surely there is some catch if you feel so inclined to reveal something to us all, no?"

The vulpine sighed and looked at the dark elf who attempted to pass him. He merely turned around to face the same direction he was and walked towards him, "We shall see if your intentions or true or that of a strategic coward, then."

He glanced over at the faun and the human, shaking his head as he motioned towards them, "I'm afraid you two don't have much of a choice. Better to follow a dangerous individual than risk becoming his next target, I suppose. Although, I'll make sure our new friend here doesn't lay a hand on either of you." He glares back at dark elf, still keeping ahold of his metal fan.

"You're telling me a human who was on his death bed already was a threat? I didn't know paranoia could take over a man who handles himself so calmly." Kuroi said, using his free hand to slip underneath his haori and draw his other metallic fan. He opened the other one and closed the one that he had used to cover his face, pointing the tip at him as he now used the other fan to cover his face. "The biggest issue I have here is that you dare down a man, regardless of what he is, that is already wounded. In a place of healing, no less. Do not even accuse me of not following the law, I've already turned in a man's head myself." Kuroi continued, letting his half-lie be heard throughout the room.

The martial artist could already feel the tension rising, and his eyes immediately scanned over the person who had the audacity to down an already downed man. "The least you could have done was wait until the man was able-bodied again before killing him! Although, judging by your attire, I expect very little from you." mocked the vulpine, taking a single step towards the group. He opened his fan again and used it to cover up his face whilst the other went down over his abdomen - it was clear that Kuroi's flamboyant behavior at this moment was meant to be provocative towards the dark elf. Surely no one could fight from such an open, flashy position.

"Draw your weapon against me right now and I promise you that my fans will be quicker than any sort of attack you can concoct with your blade and footwork."

Once more, Kuroi closed one of his fans and pointed it at the dark elf, "I'll repeat myself once more. Why down an already downed man? What ulterior forces are at play here, coward?"

Confidence emanated from the metal-feathered vulpine. His body language and words were made to provoke a man whom he had already decided a coward. All Kuroi wanted now was answers, and he was most definitely ready to defend himself if needed.

Kuroi's eyes immediately shot up to the dark elf who had passed by him, keeping a close eye on him as he strode into the infirmary. Although he didn't have a full view of what occurred within, he had a very good idea of what the faun and human girl were tending in there, or rather who. He heard the wooden doors open and soon caught sight of the dark elf from the bench he was still sitting on. The individual who had passed him and was now inside the infirmary. Something struck the vulpine as rather odd, the sudden appearance of the man and the way he presented himself led his intuition to believe that the situation would turn out to be quite dire. Kuroi stood up and began walking towards the entrance of the infirmary just seconds before a dagger was sent into the wounded human's torso. The scent of fresh blood filled Kuroi's nostrils as he moved quickly towards the entrance, his left hands feeling his upper thighs for some reason or another.

The vulpine arrived at the entrance of the infirmary and, in a passive manner, flicked out his face and positioned it in front of the lower half of his mask. Feigning femininity, he walked towards the two guards and glanced at the both of them through the holes of his mask. "Could the winner of the tournament from the night prior inspect those who had lost a bit too much during the event?"

The dark elf guards looked at each other curiously before looking at Kuroi up and down. It wasn't long until the guards realized who stood before them and opened the wooden door for him, allowing him entry. The Demihuman waited until the doors closed behind him until he walked towards the group of four that reeked of freshly drawn blood. "Intriguing to see that such a mysterious man would appear in these strange times. Although I suppose strange faces reveal themselves when strange happenings come to eye."

With graceful motion, Kuroi spread his right arm out, revealing the lower half of his mask before he dropped himself down into a bow. "May I ask why a dark elf draws blood in a place meant for healing? Surely there must be some reason for such actions..." Kuroi said, rising as he angled his metal fan in such a manner that let the edge glint, revealing its sharpness.

Kuroi kept a close eye on the human and the faun, making sure they didn't stray too far from his sight. As curious as he was though, he had a few purchases he needed to make before he set off from his journey. The vulpine sniffed the air for a bit, doing his best to single out the scents of the human and the faun. Although the latter was harder to detect amongst the collective scents of Demihumans, the human was much easier to identify, thus he would definitely keep her scent in mind. Looking at them through the heads of the crowd once more, Kuroi quickly navigated his way past the street vendors and into the nearby potion shop, grabbing his small pouch of Amas.

"Hello? Potion seller? I require your strongest potions." Kuroi said, looking forth at the cat behind the counter. The vulpine dropped his small pouch of money on the counter and continued, "I need a potion that can cure illnesses and poisons, two that will help me tank through any magical spells if I'm forced to fight, and then six potions that can heal my wounds and rejuvenate me; three stronger than the others."

Kuroi had made it a point to always wear a mask when entering the cat's shop. Although one couldn't blame Gofra for believing Kuroi to be more feminine than he really was, it definitely was something the vulpine wasn't fond of (especially if the said shopkeeper was known for attempting to woo his female customers). After all, what problem was there with looking pretty despite being masculine? It was merely his culture!

Gofra snapped his fingers and gave a proud smile to the duelist, "I have just the thing for you my androgynous friend!" The vendor turned around and quickly collected a variety of potions from a large shelf, making sure to double-check their prices and utility. After a few seconds of confirming he had picked out the elixirs that would interest Kuroi the most, he put them down on the counter and pushed them towards him. "The green potion shall take away any illness that ails you or any poison that one dares inflict upon you! Fourteen Amas!" He said, pushing the potion towards Kuroi again. "These six red potions shall mend your body to be in good shape. The smaller ones shall close flesh wounds and alleviate your pain. The larger ones shall make any nastier wounds you receive go away. 27 Amas for all six of them!"

Kuroi opened his pouch of money, waiting for the total cost of what he wished to buy. He had no trouble spending his former net worth on a variety of potions. After all, he was quite wealthy now.

"And last but not least, I offer you two potions to help resist any conjurer's magic that dare cross your path! Ten amas for both my foxy friend!" He says, giving a small smirk to the masked duelist. "That will be fifty-one Amas in total." He finished.

Kuroi shrugged and merely took out two Amas, one bronze and one platinum. He tied his pouch back onto his belt before putting both of them on the counter and collecting all his potions. "Thank you, Gofra." Kuroi said before putting away his newly-purchased elixirs and exiting the building.

(14 + 10 + 18 + 9 = 51 Amas)

(Green + Black x2 + Large Red x3 + Medium Red x3)

The transaction hadn't taken more than a few minutes, giving Kuroi enough time to spot the human and the faun leaving the marketplace to go towards the infirmary. The vulpine's curiosity had not been sated, and now that he had mostly everything he needed to set off on his journey, he began to follow the faun and the human to their destination. Upon arriving at the building, Kuroi stopped in his tracks, deciding it best not to enter and to merely stalk from outside where his presence would be more natural. He looked around quickly, hoping to find some sort of street vendor where he could purchase a few rations for his journey. Alas, there was no vendor and Kuroi instead decided to sit down on a nearby bench, one conveniently placed so he could look inside the infirmary.

The vulpine figured to take the long way out of the city; through the marketplace. He thought it best to look through the merchant stalls and street vendors to stock up on any extra supplies he may need. As he walked down the street, kindly shaking his head at pushy vendors who tried to sell him their wares. His attention turned towards the sudden scent that had filled the air. Kuroi was sure that the other demihumans had detected it. Perhaps they didn't care enough?

Kuroi walked down the street until coming across a young faun and a girl who smelled slightly similar to Grzegorz. Raising an eyebrow, he looked at the two (and anyone else with them) from afar, making sure to keep his distance. This was very problematic. Grzegorz had arrived in Roshmi City with two of his dead companions, and now there was a younger human lass before him? Just how many humans were yanked from their dimension and dropped in Avalia!? It seems that Kuroi wouldn't be able to avoid this sudden influx of humans. Although he certainly didn't plan on turning into an assailant, he wasn't sure if he should attempt to lend a helping hand again. The girl looked quite young and helpless though...

Although, his intuition seemed to refute such thoughts, only encouraging him to be even more on edge. Blending in with the crowd, Kuroi walked up to the nearest stall that people crowded around and began to watch the human girl from afar. He needed time to think on whether or not he should get involved or merely let it go like the rest of the people around him. Kuroi let out a sigh as he turned his head down towards baskets filled with fruits and vegetables, making small talk with the vendor to blend in with the rest of the crowd (as best as he could with a mask on his face, anyway).

Kuroi nodded his head and took the pouch of Amas for his prize. He had decided to take the guard's word without any hesitation, regardless of whether or not it was true. All the vulpine needed now was consolation. After thanking the guards, Kuroi turned around and walked to the bank across the street. His first priority was to deposit the majority of his money into the bank, not wanting to carry around so much money on him at once. It was better to travel humbly and not flash around wealth. That was a good way to become a bandit's target, no?

After depositing the majority of his windfall at the bank, Kuroi was unsure of what to do. He was already packed up and ready to leave the city but something kept him lingering. Perhaps it was the recent unfortunate events that befell him and the corpse of his companion. Or perhaps it was how uneasy Kuroi felt about taking advantage of a corpse in more ways than one. The vulpine reached inside his satchel and took out the red feather that adorned Grzegorz and stared at it for a few seconds before he began to walk down the street he was on.

Kuroi was surprised at the guard's random act of generosity, only able to nod his head and give his thanks to the guard before he walked off. The martial artist turned to look back towards the direction of the tavern where he had shown Grzegorz where to go. With a shrug of his shoulders, Kuroi figured it'd be best to check up on the man in the morning. Slightly raising one of his legs off the ground and pivoting along the ball of his foot to turn, he made his way back home to rest before his big day tomorrow.

Kuroi woke early, a couple of hours short from one's required eight hours of sleep. His self-inflicted restlessness wouldn't let him fall back asleep, he was too intrigued by the human whom he had met and agreed to help. Not to mention that today was the day that he would begin his worldly ventures. After a series of long goodbyes with his family and neighbors, Kuroi set off towards the tavern where he had originally sent Grzegorz to. Only a block away from the establishment, Kuroi stopped dead in his tracks and deeply inhaled. His ears shot upwards and his hand rested on the metal fan that hung from his belt. A small exhale left his mouth and a look of grimace was painted across his face as he suddenly turned to his right and stared down the alleyway.

Inside, an armored corpse could be made out leaned against the wall. Were it not for the armor and the glint of the dagger next to the neck of the cadaver, it certainly would have been a lot hard to make out who lurked within the alley.

Whiz!

Kuroi quickly slipped to the side, feeling a throwing knife miss his head narrowly. The martial artist's chest grew hot in morbid anticipation as he drew both his metal fans, moving into a cat stance* in the nigh-empty. He gently glanced to his side, making out the figures of a couple of street merchants beginning to set up for the day. It was already clear that this battle would have witnesses, something that Kuroi was more than grateful for in these circumstances. With a flick of his wrists, Kuroi unfolded both his fans and ran into the narrow alleyway.

Almost immediately, he felt a weighted object narrowly miss his left arm as he entered the alleyway. His eyes quickly analyzed the attacker and the corpse that had slumped down onto the ground; respectively, he came face-to-face with an Elven assailant and the body of the Lancer-class human he had met the night prior. Instinctively, Kuroi threw a fan directly at the assailant to disorient him and end the fight the moment it began. Unfortunately, he found his fan slammed aside with the blade of the same dagger that was about to decapitate his deceased companion. The martial artist suddenly lunged forward with the center of his bladed fan, aiming at the assailant's hand in order to disarm him. Instead, he found the flat of the dagger slammed down again the fan before being sent towards his neck. With his opposite, empty hand, he riskily caught the attacker's hand and twisted it unnaturally.

Kuroi's vulpine eyes immediately shot downwards as he found a knee coming up towards his chest. Still holding onto his opponent's hand as he squirmed about, he suddenly twisted his torso to generate power and forced the dagger down into the assailant's leg, making him stab himself. In quick succession, Kuroi suddenly launched himself into the air with his knee before using the opposite leg to send a powerful teep into the opponent's chest. The assailant immediately clung to the slick walls around him as best as possible, trying his best to stand up and get away from the man whom he had hoped to take down alongside his bounty. The martial artist quickly jumped onto the wall, doing so to close the distance between his attacker and build up momentum in the leg that launched him off the ground.

Within only a second, Kuroi sent a powerful kick into the elf's head, timing it perfectly with the elf's attempts to get up off the wall. His foot met perfectly with the side of the assailant's face, slamming the side of his head into the wall he was up against. Landing almost flawlessly, Kuroi rose his foot up once more before sending a powerful ax kick down onto the opponent's head, making sure he'd stay down. Blood faintly painted the wall where the assailant's head had been slammed into, and the same shade of scarlet gently dripped from the sole of Kuroi's foot.

Two dead corpses now laid on the ground. More than enough blood had been spilled this day.

The sun continued to rise over the horizon, not as red as one would expect from the blood that had been shed only minutes prior. Although Kuroi was aware of how questionable, and perhaps even how hypocritical his actions were, he carried the body towards the nearest post of guards, hoping that at least Aklenroth and his army had enough honor to properly bury the man whom he could have found a great companion in.

Or perhaps that was just Kuroi attempting to justify his intentions. He hadn't killed Grzegorz nor did he ever plan to unless he would be forced to defend himself. Him taking advantage of such a situation wasn't exactly the worst thing he could do. If anything, he would definitely preserve the human in memory and in spirit. Kuroi was sure the man would understand him. After all, he did the same with his deceased companions, no?

Upon arriving at the nearest guard post, Kuroi set the body down and began to quickly rummage through the man's belongings, taking anything that might be of use to him (that would be his wallet, of course). He rose and hailed the guards, ready to collect his bounty.

In his left hand, he held Grzegorz's pouch of Amas. In his right, the feather that adorned the man's casque.

"I have brought the body of a man who was to be my companion!" Kuroi shouted out, making sure the guards had noticed him and the body.

"Not too far from here, I was forced to stain my foot with the blood of an attacker who took the life of this man before me! Now I am merely following suit and turning in the body for him. Can I trust that our Lord Aklenroth will treat this cadaver with respect?"

Although Kuroi was indeed intent on collecting his blood money, the least he could do is hope that Grzegorz's body would be properly treated. It wasn't hard to note the scorn and mild pain in his voice. The man knew that what he was doing was morally questionable at best. All he could do now was treasure the feather that was once apart of the man's helmet. Although Kuroi never even learned of the man's name, he wished his soul well.

May you rest in peace, Grzegorz...'

Upon hearing the clopping of horse hooves on the pavement, Kuroi stopped and turned his head to look up at the Polish man through the slits of his mask. He stayed silent and let the man speak, merely looking up at him until the man dismounted and met him face-to-mask. It would have been a lie for Kuroi to say that he wasn't interested, especially if monetary compensation was offered. He looked up at the night sky, pondering and weighing the possible consequences for each decision. On one hand, Kuroi would be able to help out the human who had recently landed in Avalia, just much more than he originally intended to. On the other hand, although the man seemed rather amiable and honorable to some degree, he was a soldier. Kuroi's mother had experience training many of Grzegorz's kind and he himself taught a few people of similar background in his short lifetime.

They weren't all bad people but many soldiers partook in a-many things that went against his morals. Kuroi may have been a fight, a rogue even, but he could not see himself leading the pillaging of a town or village. After a few minutes of silence, the duelist brought up his index finger and motioned Grzegorz to follow him. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to help the Polish soldier out for some time, especially if this meant traveling across the land and being paid to lead the way throughout it. If things got too hairy, Kuroi would merely discharge himself in an honorable manner (lest he finds a polearm pointed at his neck and an innocent's head in a bag).

Kuroi drew his metal fan and flicked his wrist outwards, letting it spread outwards and show off its beautiful (albeit simple) design. He pointed the way to the nearest tavern and merely awaited for Grzegorz to finish speaking to the guards, doing his best to communicate with such a massive language barrier. A shame that Kuroi could understand the man but he could probably not understand Kuroi. He stayed silent, merely watching the exchange between the guards and the human immigrant before speaking up, "If I may be excused for speaking up, if I were to be this man's bodyguard and guard, where could I acquire a translator so that he may understand me?"

Upon catching sight of the inter-dimensional immigrant, Kuroi stops in his tracks upon hearing, smelling, and seeing the patrol of guards that were talking to him. At this point, Kuroi wasn't sure what to do and merely froze in his tracks, watching the scene unfold from afar. Part of him was curious to continue pursuing this human, his curiosity was too great. The other, bigger part of him urged him to go back home and rest up for his journey tomorrow. He wanted nothing to do with human bounty hunting and the event unfolding before him had completely ruined his plans of wanting to do a small good deed.

With an exasperated sigh, Kuroi decided to stop creeping in the dark and walk out into plain sight as to pass by and make his actions more natural. After all, lurking this late after midnight could land him in trouble. Especially if humans were involved.
