You know, I've wondered about that for a while... According to this, it really wouldn't take all that long at all for radiation/fallout levels to drop into manageable ranges (especially in the radiation-obsessed Fallout universe, with its ubiquitous Rad-X and Rad-Away).

Still, though, we're talking about a place based primarily on what Americans in the Fifties thought the future would be like, so obviously radiation works very differently there... And I'm pretty sure most of the survivors of the Great War either became ghouls or were in Vaults and bunkers and such... Yeah, I really don't know how the human PCs are going to be able to do anything out there, at least not for a few years (decades).

Will there be cookies? I love cookies. (seriously, though, complete coincidence)

I don't remember the exact system... this was years ago when we were teenagers... Now my friend GMs Shadowrun every now and then and I GM Anima OCCASIONALLY. While ridiculously fun, Anima is a conplicated system... You can have characters do just about anything, but it becomes a very involved process... ESPECIALLY for character creation.

Hmm. Well, what's an example? What kinds of things do you have to choose at character creation?
Oh, the radiation's a huge part of my character concept!

:( I hope is isn't glossed over, in the story. I'll admit, though, I don't know how the human characters are going to survive (at least in Portland, where the bombs would have hit the hardest).

Nope. But I've played DnD and Savage Worlds though. My boyfriend's GM my current game. We meet every sunday. So ye.

What edition of D&D do you play/have you played? And what is Savage Worlds like? I've heard of it, but I definitely don't know very much.

Nope. Me and my friends always played a lot of Anima and Shadowrun... And also our self-made Cowboy Bebop RPG (we found an adaptable source book online)... The Bebop one was flipping awesome!

Heh, again, people have told me that Shadowrun was really cool, but I've never read any of the books... x.x RPGs are so expensive. What system did you use for the Bebop game? Something like GURPS?

Pathfinder is mostly based on OGL content from D&D 3.5, with a large number of tweaked rules and new settings/classes/mechanics/what have you. :) Apparently, it's pretty fun. I don't have any friends who play, but there's a strong presence of the Pathfinder Society in my town (basically the PF version of the RPGA), so I'm going that route.

-shrug- Hopefully I'll meet some people, and eventually get invited to a private game, but for now it's the best I've got.

Also, Impy, Misa, when do you think you'll have your CS sheets up? Kinda excited to see them already xD

:P I assure you, mine will not be quite as impressive as Misa's, but hopefully it won't disappoint. As for when, well, best case, tonight or tomorrow morning, worst case Monday. The rest of today and my weekend are pretty free, so I should have enough time to get it done.

The biggest thing I'm doing is preparing for my first ever tabletop RPG session, on Tuesday! I'm pretty excited. Has anyone here played a lot of Pathfinder?

Yeah, I've always wondered that myself. Why on earth is it month first? It's just so much easier with the day before hand.

Apparently, according to Wikipedia, it's a rather modern quirk of the United States:

Wikipedia article on calendar dates said
Gregorian, month-day-year (MDY)

This sequence is used primarily in the United States. This date format was commonly used alongside the little-endian form (DMY) in the United Kingdom until the mid-20th century and can be found in both defunct and modern print media such as the London Gazette and The Times, respectively.

I think the best way to remove ambiguity is to use the full version rather than the number abbreviations (e.g. 5th Sep. or Sep. 5th), and if you do use the abbreviations, use YYYY/MM/DD. :) The descending order should get across even to us loony Yanks.

Anyway, I'm still around, working on my CS little by little. I wanted to ask you, Pellegrino, how many days away from the Great War are we going to be, specifically?

Also, hello, Impy! Glad I didn't get your gender wrong, haha~ I'm slowly hammering away and polishing Aoife (EE-fa. She finally has a name, and a damn Irish one at that!). Turns out, Ren may or may not love or hate her.

Heh, I like it! Ren's birth name is "Dehnr", kind of pseudo-German. And, hopefully it's a mix of both!

Psh, weapons are cool. Having more exponentially increases the cool.

It's a Y chromosome thing.

Coolness depends on context, I think. Fictional weapons are generally cool, even in the hands of the villains, but in-universe/real life weapons? Not quite. They're useful, if you want somebody dead, but if you have a weapon, it means other people have weapons as well... And other people are not to be trusted.

To Ren, at least, weapons are decidedly uncool.
I'm here, lurking, trying to nail the character down before too much IC goes by... Ren'll definitely have a strange relationship with Veili as well, if the story forces them to work together. x.x Anyone who handles that many weapons is a person to be avoided.

( "her" is correct)

@Imperfectionist: Decide if you want to do this, really. Your immediate reaction before was to quit because it didn't fit your exact idea, and no judgements, if that's how you feel follow that path. Otherwise, remember that being flexible doesn't mean then suggesting an overhaul to fit yet another expectation. Cool, we can alter SPECIAL Points to total to 40, but we won't be going the whole stats way.

My immediate response to the numbers was "damn it, this is so unecessary! Grr! Hiss!"... And you said "calm down, lady, I know what I'm doing." I realized how petulant I was being, so I decided to see what I could do, instead of doing more bitching. I took a different approach to the sheet, this time as if I had no opinions on whether it should have numbers or not, and that's what led to the questions.

Anyway, I'm glad you agree that 40 points make more sense, and I understand not wanting to go the full-stats route. I'll try to get my sheets up soon.
:P Don't you mean Common, or Lismosian? I doubt they speak English.
