Okay, actual post is up now. I went pretty far with the transformation into a doll, I hope that's alright... :P I thought it'd be funny to have her just be mildly perturbed by the whole "missing leg" thing.
Oops, terrible timing on my part. I'll repost in a bit, after I've read Kiri's. (By the way, sorry for being quiet the past little while. I've been neglecting the Guild in favor of the crapload of tabletop games I'm GMing... I'm still here, though. Not dropping out or anything, just not as active as I would have hoped.)
It figured. Miriam had wanted something interesting to happen, after all, and here they were... Wherever they were. Sucked under a bed and dropped straight into fucking Wonderland. But, like, the dark part of Wonderland, where the Jabberwock and the frumious Bandersnatch lived. Something about being newly reborn in the form of painted wood allowed her to remain conscious after she hit the ground, but a fat load of good that did her. Missing leg, her brother and his friends still knocked out (or dead!) on the ground, there was nothing she could do except drag herself to a tree and rest against it. Luckily, both of her arms were still connected. "What a weird thing to be thankful for," she thought. "Why am I not more scared? I mean, the whole falling under the bed thing was scary, but I seem to be fine now... Missing a leg, but whatever. Not dead. Hmm... Maybe it's the vodka." She ruled out hallucination pretty quick. Mimi had been on several different sorts of hallucinogens before, and this felt very different. Everything had a very dreamlike quality, the fog, the weird trees, the impossible hourglass in the sky... But it was SO real. Her fingers were segmented and wooden, for Christ's sake! It was just when she decided to start crawling across the ground to check on the others that she heard Savrina crying out. She was close, just beyond the fog. "Savrina? -cough- (her throat was weirdly dry) Over here, Savrina! I need your help, dear! -cough cough- Thank God someone else is awake... Don't freak out, but my leg broke off when I landed, and I don't think I'll be going very far with just the one. "Could you, um... Poke around a little? I'm sure it hasn't gotten far. Is anyone else awake?"
I'm still here! Sorry about the silence, I've been neglecting the Guild in favor of my tabletop games... I might be running too many, but writing for them is so much fun! I don't know how many WoD fans there are on this site, especially new WoD, but Changeling: the Lost is really cool. The flavor, the stories you can make with the changelings and their enemies, mixing changelings with mages (Ascension mages, not Awakening, which doesn't help with the complexity of writing these games), there's some great storytelling you can get out of it. In addition, I'm concurrently GMing three separate Pathfinder games, two of which I'm writing from scratch and the other I'm almost completely rewriting... Yeah. :P Been a little busy. Anyway! All I need to do is get words onto the page for my characters, and I still plan on being a part of this game. I'll be watching the IC and working on the sheets tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be able to hop in just a little bit late.
She's so cute! Thank you, Kiri. Some major is definitely in order. The only thing that makes it less-than-100% perfect is her hair, which is supposed to be dark... Other than that, the whole ensemble is fantastic (I especially love the pumps and the arm-joints). Even the hearts and everything are totally in character. (By the way, the messenger and his expression are also really good. :) You've got mad skills.)
:P So now we have _two_ ambiguously gendered, formerly-or-currently enslaved, synthetically crafted beings. One of them hates robots, and the other _is_ one... And they're both so young! I feel weird, both of my characters are pushing 400 galactic standard years... Also, party dynamics so far: - The Leader: Rayland (Earth) - The Bruiser: ADI (Fire) - The Rogue: Kaite (Air) If I could get my sheets finished, we'd also have The Wizard (Water) and The NPC/The Scientist (Heart)... It's a regular five-man band! All we need is a cleric.
I see. Public knowledge would probably limited to information brokers and disgruntled former employees, and even then only in League space... Alright. Just getting an idea of how likely it would be for my characters to have heard of it. Speaking of, I need to actually get some character sheets on here.
> > ^-^ Well, hopefully there will be a chance to whisk him away from his creators and help him break from their restrictive programming. Has ADI ever had a big sister? > > Quite possible since he had four models before him. Though they were considered broken. Hmm. What were you thinking, in terms of exposure? Is all of this a trade secret, has it been in the galactic media, or what?
^-^ Well, hopefully there will be a chance to whisk him away from his creators and help him break from their restrictive programming. Has ADI ever had a big sister?
The whole idea of the Hybrid Child program is kind of... dark. Like, they know there are 100% sapient and viable synthetic lifeforms out there, so they're going to make the equivalent of a Delta or Epsilon from Brave New World. It makes sense, in that people would get very up-in-arms if a real Hephaeton was forced into this servant role, but where is the line drawn? What makes the enslavement of something like ADI different? Isn't he (male identity, it seems) just as much a being as other A.I.'s, and deserves the same rights of choice and what have you? :) It brings up interesting in-universe questions, especially because I'm going to be playing a Hepaeton "sapienpologist"... It's like an anthropologist, but not focused on only one species; they'd be quite common in any multi-species universe like this. Anyway, being someone who studies such things, and being a Hephaeton herself, meeting someone like ADI would be quite an experience.
