@KurisaKyoichi, holding the scroll his great-grandfather had given him, approached the head captain's office. Within the scroll, held a note his great-grandfather had intended for the current head captain. In fact, his great-grandfather had served as adviser to some previous head captains, after the first shinigami war. They had asked his great-grandfather to serve as head captain some thousand years ago. However, being fed up with constant warfare and the stress of the job, he politely declined. His family and lineage would forever serve the Gotei Thirteen, however.
Being the newest generation from the Kuroda family to join the Gotei Thirteen, Kyoichi knocked on the head captain's office before he entered. Seeing as it was empty. He simply dropped off the letter, having no idea what it read.
The content of the letter is as follows...
~Dear Captain Hotaka
This is Kuroda Kenshin. I assume you remember me. Seeing as I was one of you instructors back in the Shino Academy. How are you doing, child? Been practicing your Hitosume: Nadegiri? I don't want to have to come around and embarrass you around your soldiers now. Also, Hiryu says hi to Mizueien Tsukiaisu.
In any case, I'm sure you're aware that one of my descendants have joined the Gotei Thirteen. His name is Kuroda Kyoichi. He is the Lieutenant of Squad Eight. I've heard about the recent events involving that squad. It is natural for him to hunt for the person that killed his captain in cold blood and bring them to justice. However, I also know that that squad is short on members right now. What I ask of you is to let him go. I'll send my son, Kuroda Sengoku to tend to the squad in his stead. Remember him? He beat you in a duel a few centuries ago... So, you know he can handle leading a squad in these relatively peaceful times. Kyoichi should be getting ready to leave within a few days of you reading this letter. So Sengoku will be there to tend to the squad a few days after he leaves. I hope you can accommodate an old man's requests. I'm sure Kyoichi will return, and return stronger than he was before. He'll answer to me if he does not..
Sincerely,
Master Kenshin. ~
Leaving Squad One, Kyoichi returned to Squad Eight, which is basically empty now. After the killing of the captain, existing members came up with all sorts of excuses and relocated themselves to other squads, leaving Kyoichi basically alone. Doing one last sweep of the squad grounds, Kyoichi made sure his captain's office was locked securely and his own quarters as well. He packed a few simple things before closing the barrack downs behind him. With his sword at his hip, the scroll in his backpack, he set off to find the man that killed his captain.
