I posted in the arena section and indicated that anyone interested should come to this page. :O

...It was scary...
Hello all- I've never been around to this part of the forum, the arena section I mean, so I'm not exactly sure how everything is run here... so forgive me if this is a little improper and informal.

Anyways! I've recently started an Interest Check in the Casual section involving a battle royale type game. However, another user noted that we might find some decent interest in this section. And so check it out below and if you're interested, respond here in the casual section. Thanks!!

Death Match

---

Welcome, participant. We apologize for the sudden intrusion but a congradulations is in order. You have been selected for the yearly Death Match! Now I'm sure you've never heard of this yearly sport, so let me explain. Every year, about 30 participants are selected to participate in a game of survival. A battle royale so to speak, the participants are pit against each other until only one is left alive. Yes, that's right, 'left alive' means you will be killing each other. How fun!

Anyways, every participant has had a small microchip implanted in his head, behind his ear to be precise, that is linked to the participants vitals. It will continue to operate as long as the person is alive. This microchip will keep track of your vitals, location, etc. More importantly this microchip can be detonated remotely! If that happens, you will indeed die. Now, this would only happen if you broke the rules, ran out of time, or, god forbid, you started trying to get it out, so let's not try that.

Now, more about the rules. You will be given 60 days to reduce the number of participants to one. You will be left to your own devices to do this however you are not to leave the city. That would be breaking the rules and we know happens when you do that... Furthermore, If the 60 days end and there is more than one chip active, they will automatically detonate. So, if you want to live, you'll make sure you're the last one alive.

Why is this happening? Why were you chosen? What will this all accomplish? I'm sure you have many questions, but I assure you they are all irrelevant. Once you leave here, all that will matter is your survival. Now, we are not so cruel as to leave you unarmed in the coming war. We will provide you with one random item that will hopefully be key to your success in this game. Though, you should be aware that every participant will receive one item, and some may be more useful than others.

Tomorrow you will be contacted via text message with more details. Good day and good luck!

Unaware to most of the population a vicious game is held every year. It is a death match where people are set against each other until only one is left alive. These players are all from the same city and are watched via hidden cameras and microphones planted throughout the city. The players are also equipped with a microchip that transmits various information to the viewers including what they see and hear.

Some viewers only watch the game for pleasure, however many typically make bets on the players throughout the game. Things get particularly exciting when the Game Masters throw in new obstacles for the players. What these things can be will vary- they can be helpful or dangerous depending on the situation.

Before the game begins the participants are kidnapped and wake up in a room with a well dressed man on a television screen before them. He explains most of the rules to the player. Once the man is done speaking a gas is released that knocks subdues the participant once again. When he wakes the next day he will have been returned to his home. From then on he will receive more information about the game via text message. All participants will receive one cellular device as well as their special 'weapon'.

Rules

  • This is a mature Role Play. If you cannot handle that, remove yourself.
  • Keep in mind this is a game and people are roleplaying. Just because someone is playing a hateful asshole doesn't mean they are one. If you don't like someone's character- kill em.
  • In respect to the last rule, be as respectful as you can. Profanity and sex is allowed but to an extent. Do not abuse this privilege.
  • You will be allowed to play more than one character but no more than 5.
  • Godmodding- I will use this as an umbrella for autododging, autohitting, and any other godly acts. Let me be more specific. If Robbie has a sniper rifle and Stacy is walking down the street completely unawares, Robbie can and will shoot you. You will not notice some random gleam or suddenly drop something at the perfect moment. Whether it is a head shot is another story. Id rather you respond on your own as to the results of the shot rather than having me step in. This is a PRIVILEGE that I am giving you. Do not make me regret it. Now, this does not mean that I allow autohitting. If, say, Robbie and Stacy were in a fire fight, and Robbie is unloading a clip at a cover hidden Stacy, he's not gonna hit her. If she decides to run between cover, he's prooobably not going to hit her. If he sneaks around a bus and gets the drop on her, then he is far more likely to hit. Outsmart the PLAYER to the point where they can no longer escape/dodge and you will be victorious. Now, again, I'm leaving this to the player so if I see you running from cover to cover and you're never getting hit, I'm going to have to step in. I'd rather see you impose your own restrictions. You fall into some glass, you knock over your cover, you get clipped and have a fairly deep wound that may need stitches but the wound is nonlethal, etc. Again, this is a PRIVILEGE that I'm giving you. Do not make me regret it.
  • In regard to whether or not you get hit by things, Id rather leave it up to the players, as described in the last rule. However, if little to no progress is being made, I will begin rolling a die behind the scenes (If youre a fat slow guy and you're trying to dodge a bullet, sorry but youre probably gonna need to beat a 17 on a 20 sided to dodge). Now, given the example of the Robbie the Sniper and Stacy the Ignorant, if Stacy wanted, she could request I could roll a die to decide how bad her injury is. In this case she would need to beat a 5 to live, a 10 to be conscious after the shot, and if she beat a 15, the wound would not be critical.
  • Further developing on God modding, your character should not and will not be privy to information he should not know. For example, Robbie the Sniper shoots Stacy the Ignorant dead. He then frisks her person and does not find anything. Robbie's PLAYER, however, knows she hid her item within her hollow heel. He then checks her heel to find her item. This will NOT happen. You will only get ONE warning for this.
  • In reference to god modding, no one is god except me. I am God and what I say goes. That being said, if you want to discuss a decision I've made with me, feel free.
  • I retain the right to change this rule list at any point, though I promise to inform you when I do.

Sooo, just a few notes- I tried to start this rp a few weeks back. However, due to some personal reasons I had to leave the guild for some time. However, now that I am back, I would like to see if there is still interest for this. This time I will have @Viscerous Co-Gming with me.

As for the roleplay, it will be taking place within a fictional city. A map will be provided, marked with important locations and landmarks. It will also be divided into sectors. When making a post, at the end, you should mark what sector you are/were in. For example if I moved through 3 sectors in my post I might indicate something like -Began in Sector B, moved through Sector D, and ended in Sector E-.

Also, I'd recommend you make several characters as a good many of them will be killed.

I will be a very strict GM. Your character will not autohit, autododge, or know information that your character should not know. If this wasn't evident already by the lengthy rules section.

So let me know if you'd guys be interested in joining!
@Viscerous Awesome! Don't feel pressured to make them too complicated.

Also, what do you guys think about the rules?
Totally forgot phone in my supplies. Thanks @Wintergrey. Gotta add that...

Melissa Dunn

Age
18

Gender
Female

Family
Margret Dunn- Mother

Personality
The best way to describe Melissa is, well, odd. She seems normal at first until maybe five minutes after you talk to her and start noticing her idiosyncrasies. Sometimes she simply says things in an unusual way, other times she seems to be talking about something completely irrelevant. Though, despite her oddities, she is all around pleasant to be around. She is friendly and sweet and always tried to help when she can.

Bio
Melissa was raised by a single mother who worked hard long hours. As a result she spent a lot of time with babysitters or alone. In school she didn't have many friends and rarely talked. However, when she was 12 she fell in love with her mathematics teacher, a tall young man man with a friendly smile. He would always convince her to talk in class and participate in class activities. And so she found herself constantly asking for help with her work just so he would talk to her. So he would smile at her. She stayed late for extra credit and sometimes just to talk to him. Finally, at the end of the year, she asked him if he had a girlfriend. This was obviously a red light for him and he explained to her that he was just her teacher and she was just his student. The rest of that summer she sulked...

Though, when her next school year began she discovered she was in his class once again. She was overjoyed but she knew he could never be with her... And so she began searching for anything that could change that. What she found was magic. Or at least what she thought was magic. And so she spent that year trying to create love potions or charms for him. However, before she could see her results, her mother told her they were moving away. Melissa was infuriated. She pleaded with her mother telling her she loved someone dearly here and she couldn't leave them. Her mother assured her she would find someone else and before she knew it she was moving into a new home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Melissa was crushed... until she received a letter from her love in the mail! It was simply saying that he was sad to lose her as a student and that he loved the time they spent together. Melissa took this as a sign of success from her magics.

And so Melissa continued her magic. Though, as she got older she understood that most of the magic she knew didn't work. Or at least in the conventional sense. She still reads palms and tarot and more. Having graduated high school, Melissa attends college but she is undecided on a major.

Job Before The Outbreak
Student

Disability/Fear
Melissa is afraid of heights and is afraid of being alone with a large man. She is rather superstitious and is also afraid of clowns.

Weapon of Choice
Melissa's weapon of choice is getting the heck out of there.

Supplies
Melissa carried around several oddities in a large purse that she carries around. In it includes her ID, her keys to her home, an old smart phone thats hardly smart, a tarot deck, a rabbits foot, some odd coins, dried leaves, and more.

Evie Ryan

Age
32

Gender
Female

Family
Darcy Ryan- Mother (deceased)
Tomas Ryan- Father
Bryan Ryan- Brother
Chase Ryan- Brother
Bre Ryan- Sister-in-law
Logan Ryan- Nephew
Ava Ryan- Neice
All of Evie's family lives in New Haven, Connecticut.

Personality
It is somewhat difficult to get to like Evie. She can be pretentious and judgmental and often times puts down others when she doesn't even know it. She hates people who are immature and unprofessional. Subsequently, she is well composed and organized and expects others to be. However, while Evie likes to control the world around her, she has no control over her emotions. Anger, fear, sadness, these can all ruin her perfectly coordinated plans rather easily. Evie can have a breakdown and not even know its coming. Nor can she get herself back together easily. Yet, this emotional side of hers is her most redeeming quality. She loves easily and is more trusting. She is generous and willing to help those in need. And despite how in control she likes to think she is, she relies on others for support when she needs it.

Bio
Evie was born to Tomas and Darcy Ryan, a couple straight out of a romantic comedy. Cute and madly in love they were happily married and had three children. Evie was the oldest, followed by her brother Chase, and then her baby brother Bryan. However, when Evie was 9 years old her mother was murdered while trying to stop a deranged man from attacking an elderly woman on the street. The family was devastated, especially Tomas. He became obsessed with hating the man, Jerry Cormack. The man, Jerry, was institutionalized due to mental illness but Tomas swore it wasn't enough. The alcohol was soon to follow. Tomas barely worked anymore and his kids were hardly on his mind. Little Evie was left to take care of her 5 and 7 year old little brothers.

Evie had to make sure that her little brothers dressed and ready for school every day while her father slept in. Once they got home Evie helped them with their homework before figuring out dinner. Most times before Evie knew how to cook she would just take money from her passed out father's wallet and order take out. After dinner she would do her own homework while her brothers watched television or played games. Finally Evie put her brothers to bed and did it all over again the next day.

Years went by and her father began to get better. He was working more and had cut drinking down to only weekends. He would tell Evie how he missed her mother. He would tell her stories of their childhood and Evie would laugh. Things were almost normal again. Unfortunately it didn't last long as her father began getting sick. It wasn't long until they discovered he had Leukemia. And so Evie began not only taking care of her brothers but her father as well. It was also around this time that Evie took her first art class. She instantly fell in love. It was the only time she could ignore her responsibilities and just focus on her art.

It was years before her father had finally recovered from his illness... though you can hardly call it recovering. A shell of the man he use to be, her father would never be completely healthy but it was as healthy as he could be. Evie was going to college studying Fine Art. Though she had to go to community college as she couldn't leave home just yet. Her brothers needed her to take them to and from practice and games not to mention cook dinner for them and her father. Oh, and do their laundry. And clean. She didnt need to dress them anymore and beat up the little boys who picked on them but she still had to take care of them.

Finally, when her brothers entered college Evie was ready to leave home. She went to Pittsburgh to continue studying in graduate school. It was far but Evie liked the distance. She was finally free from being a mom. Though, this became a problem with her boyfriend for six years. He wanted to get married and start a family and that was the last thing she wanted. After another year or so he couldn't wait for her anymore and left her. Now 32 and single Evie doesn't know what she wants.

Job Before The Outbreak
Artist and Adjunct Art Professor

Disability/Fear
Not only is Evie lack muscle mass, but she is scared easily. She is afraid of monsters, ghosts, and ghouls. Respectively she is afraid of the dark. Evie is also afraid of heights and afraid of being in a speeding vehicle.

Weapon of Choice:
The only weapon Evie has is a mace spray.

Supplies
Evie usually carries a clutch with some cash (usually around $100 in various bills), credit cards, drivers licences, and a few other random cards/papers. She has an android powered smart phone that she sometimes has trouble using- sometimes. She also has a set of keys to her house, her car, and to her office as well as a key to the art supply room. Other than her Mace she usually has a bottle of water and a snack of some sort (a granola bar, an apple, etc.).
@Nallore oh wow, okay. I expected tomorrow at the earliest but assumed it would be more like a day or two. That sounds fantastic.
Well, thats 5 interested now. Gareth, Viscerous, Stormlight3, hoppiholla391, and Polyphemus. One or two more and I will open the OoC. I only say that because typically from the Interest Check to the OoC you lose one or two people. That being said, the OoC WILL open- likely tomorrow, even if we don't get any more interest.
Woot, nice characters @Nallore. Lilly is a cutie!

How many more peeps are we waiting on? Not to rush them- Im just impatient, haha.
I'd be game for this.

Characters are just regular-type dudes picked at random, yes?

They could be regular. They could be military, ex military, police, prisoners, what ever. Remember, this is a game and its meant to be interesting.

EDIT: To be more specific, that means people of ALL kinds. Students, doctors, homeless. Nothing is off the table.
