Marxo is known by one other name only disclosed to higher-ups in the Marine Ranking. Although his crew doesn’t know of his last name , a few captains do. Vice-Admiral Laurant. The tyrant who single handedly caught more pirates than most his fellow marines. The story of his crew states that every crew he has constantly “dies”. In actuality, this was a story fabricated by the Marines in order to keep Marxo’s position a secret. To understand this you must first travel back to when Marxo first became a pirate.
Age 14-Marxo was approached by the Marines for the crimes of desecrating an entire island. He was sent to trial and sentenced to life in Impel Down. After spending two years on the inside he’d decided pirate life wasn’t worth the trouble it came with. He then asked the Marines to secure a deal with him under the condition he’d never betray them . He believed in his strength so he asked to become a sleeper cell in pirate ranks. No one knew him as a Marine, only as the kid who killed his family and got away with it. His actual life would make the perfect cover up. The marines accepted his offer reluctantly and decided to keep the watchful eye of an Admiral on him.
For two years the Admiral trained him to be proficient in the art Jeet Kune Do , as well as Observation and Armament Haki, and the mastery of his fruit. Marxo became like a son to the man as well as a pupil. He helped him rise into the ranks as the youngest captain of age 18 . As most marines didn’t know his backstory(being covered up by their higher-ups) they accepted him as a prodigy. It was finally time to allow him a taste of freedom. It had been too long. He went from being trapped behind sea-prism stone walls to being brainwashed with the Esigna of Justice. All for some fresh air.
Age 18As a free man (Marine) Marxo encountered many pirates crews. With the information the Marines purposely let slip he became a poster child for pirate recruitment. At first he’d play the role of the weakling begging to be under the wing of a strong pirate crew. He coaxed them to teach him the ways of being a pirate. Most crews never knew he had a devil fruit so it seemed the boy had just got lucky to escape the marines. This was a technique the Admiral liked to call trust-bond. He established one with Marxo after first meeting him taking him in as a son. He never let Marxo forget he was once a criminal though and if he ever had the thought of going down the same path , he’d have no problem instilling Justice onto Marxo.
It wasn’t long afterwards that he met the charismatic Nabil Valley on a sinking navy vessel out in open sea. What caught his intrigue the most was the rebellious appearance he held and the calm that seem insistent around him, even during that moment of imminent death. That was when Marxo decided to save him. Apparently Nabil was a pirate looking for a crew. He had hoped to find candidates on board the ship but instead found only ruffians and idiots. In the ensuing fight he lost his own small boat and irrevocably damaged the large one. From then onwards they traveled for a while, tempering a friendship through countless impossible situations. That was up until they landed on a small island and was invited onto a crew by a woman. What happened next would tear apart the five-year long friendship they had gardened.
Age 23It all happened in a flash. At first the duo were talking to the Captain , and then the Marines attacked. In between Marxo had set off a secret alarm in his pocket. It had finally become time to catch Nabil. What better way to do so than to catch a pirate crew along with him.
The marines stormed the tavern leaving the young crew nowhere to run. Nabil began to fight his way out but was surprisingly struck down by his best friend of 5 five years. When asked why , Marxo repsonded,
“ Justice Prevails Over All.” He then proceeded to drive a sea stone dipped scythe into the man’s heart , relinquishing the last of his humanity.
