Sun-kissed skin, freckled nose bridge, and a pair of charming amber eyes. These are the most noticeable features upon gazing into Calliope's youthful face. Her bone structure is high and just pointed enough to give her a regal appearance. The hair framing her cheeks is cut into shorter layers that are dressed in all shades of red. The longer strands of hair along her chin are usually aligned in an organized chaos of sorts. Her figure is lean and muscular; she stands at about 5'7". She adorns herself in typical Harbinger attire made of light, flexible materials. She also faithfully wears a silver bangle on her left wrist.

Bastian is a hybrid beast that predominantly resembles a lion. Tucked beneath his sharp shoulder blades is a pair of radiant white wings. Calliope pales in comparison to Bastian's encroaching size, but the beast loves the girl in the gentlest of manners. By nature, Bastian is cautious and defensive. His aggression is rarely exhibited unless his partner is in danger. His incredible agility and senses make him a keen asset to the Harbingers.

PERSONALIT→y
Calliope has a child-like spirit paired with a vigorous appetite for adventure. She often lets her curiosity get the better of her but can very smoothly wheedle her way around or out of a threatening situation. She has a sharp mind and an even sharper tongue at times. Calliope tends to follow her heart over her head, which can lead her astray during important Harbinger missions. It does, however, aid her in empathizing with others she comes into contact with. Her hand to hand combat skills are finely tuned, but her greatest area of strength is acrobatics. Calliope is light as a feather on her feet, quick as lightning, and balanced as the evening tides. She also has a talent for understanding and connecting with animals of all species.

Welcome to Valeriya, or the skeleton and left over marrow of what we once called our "home". For centuries this land and its immediate surroundings have been plagued by an infectious darkness carried by demonic shadows we call, "Cimmerians". No one seems to recall their origin, and all our folklore is written in such ancient texts that even our brightest professors and scholars are still working to decipher the mysteries behind their abhorrent existence. All we know is that war ravages Valeriya and will continue on its devastating course unless we do something to extinguish it. That's where the Reckoning comes into play. Every citizen is required to participate in the ritual on the eve of their eighteenth birthday. Choose your goblet, draw from the fountain, and wait for the water to show you your destiny. You've got four possible outcomes: Mercenary, Harbinger, Practitioner, or Familiar. Luckily, the Mystics give you a week to brood over your recommendation versus your heart's desire before everyone declares their Estuary at the Gathering. Although some consider this life and land a death sentence no matter what path is chosen, there are far graver consequences. Valeriya has lost countless souls to the madness and poison brought on by the Cimmerians' dark magic. Over the years we have learned a handful of strategies and skills to combat their evil, but the victory still eludes even our finest and most seasoned Valeriyans. It's only together that we will defeat our timeless enemies. Midnight; time for a Reckoning.

Mercenaries are masters of physical combat, weapons and armor, survival, and battle strategies. The members of this Estuary usually, but not always, include those who are: brave, bold, rational, loyal, just, and occasionally broody or temperamental.

Harbingers are masters of stealth, acrobatics, reconnaissance, and ranged attacks. The members of this Estuary usually, but not always, include those who are: adventurous, patient, persuasive, reckless, free-thinking, and optimistic.

Practitioners are masters of alchemy, efficiency, perception, and discipline. The members of this Estuary usually, but not always, include those who are: steadfast, tranquil, compassionate, dynamic, gentle, and firm.

Familiars are masters of folklore, wisdom, guidance, and preservation. The members of this Estuary usually, but not always, include those who are: brilliant, cultured, methodical, curious, conservative, peaceful, and mature.


ͼV E I N Sͽ
Veins are typically acquired after the Gathering ceremony and during a recruit's initial training stages. These creatures come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and species. Some are magical, whereas some are typical to the natural environment of Valeriya. Regardless, Veins are paired and bond quickly to their caretakers. Each Estuary contains a variety of Veins which aid them on and off of the battlefield. Each Vein uses a particular set of skills to aid its partner throughout their journey together. Magical abilities are not uncommon in a Vein and they can be temporarily shared by its partner under certain circumstances.


ͼC I M M E R I A N Sͽ
Cimmerians are dark beings from a Netherworld unknown to most, if not all, Valeriyans. Their arrival is usually preceded by a formation of large, dark clouds or heavy, pungent fog. These demons cloak themselves in shadows but can take on any form of their choosing. Some extremely gifted and higher ranked Cimmerians can temporarily take on a realistic human or animal form, although to an experienced eye the Cimmerian's true form is detectable. Their touch can bring on all sorts of incurable diseases. The longevity and fatality depends mainly on a person's will and access to medical attention. Their enticing whispers travel on the winds, and they feast on death and the disparaging land.
