Li laughed. "See? Called it." She followed him up the path, letting out a low whistle as they came into sight of the action. "Well it could be a little more exciting than the empty camp. Just maybe. It'll be a close one." She grinned as she surveyed the upcoming buildings. "So where to first? You're the worldly one with knowledge of the town. Lead on."

Jett paused and stood on the sidewalk for a moment, debating where to head first. He noticed that the sun had already set and the streetlights were the only source of lighting, so he determined that it was actually already quite late. "Well, we may not have too much time before we'll have to head back, and my favorite dance club slash bar thing is a must," he recommended.

"Well if you were going to try to murder me, I'd say you went for victims who could kick your ass and you were, therefore, a very unsuccessful serial killer." Li grinned over at him.

Jett rolled his eyes. "Well, I will admit, I have never successfully murdered anyone," he snickered. As they came even closer to the town, Jett stepped onto a path that had been paved by the locals as a walking trail through the edge of the woods. He followed the path until the end of the trees was in sight, with the bustling nightlife of the small city on the other side.

Li shrugged. "Had nothing to lose. Nothing was keeping me at my last engagement. I'd heard the rumors and thought 'why not?' It's not much of a story." She averted her eyes and tried to change the subject. "Streetlights. Seems there really is a town here. I thought you might be luring me off into the great unknown to further your serial killer hobby."

Jett laughed and glanced at her in amusement. "Oh, yeah? And if I were a serial killer luring you, what do you think my trend in victims would be?" he challenged.

Li glanced at him sympathetically. "I get that. Hey, maybe you'll get lucky and Sacha will have a change of heart. She's pissed but she's not unreasonable. Maybe she'll cool off and give you a nice leaky tent on the edge of camp somewhere." She shrugged. "I've found that things generally work themselves out. You've still got hope."

Jett nodded. "Yeah, you're right. I'm sure it'll all work itself out." He noticed the streetlights were getting brighter as they neared the town, and he felt excitement begin to flow through him. Since they still had a little farther to go, Jett glanced at Li and asked, "So what brought you to the forest, anyway?"
<Snipped quote by jaywing93>

"Expiration date?" Li raised an eyebrow. "She's gonna kick you out? That sucks. Do you have any idea where you're gonna go after this? Do you want to stay?" She surveyed the forest around her, wondering what she would be doing now had she not come to the forest. She shook her head slightly to dispel the thought, deciding not to think about it

Jett sighed and gazed ahead with dull eyes. "I have no idea where I'm going to go." He blinked at her question, and thought deeply for a moment. When I came to the forest, I was absolutely dreading having to show my face around here again. But now... his thoughts trailed off uncertainly. "I miss this," he said softly. "so there's a part of me that does want to stay. But there's also a part of me that still just feels strange about being here."

"Yeah they really are." Li laughed as well. "Don't get me wrong, I love murder and torture as much as the next guy, but even I have to draw the line somewhere." She grinned over at him. "Well well. Casanova wins the heart of the girl, leaves the evil Broms, and then leaves without a word. I think you got the ending wrong dude."

"Yeah," Jett sighed in agreement. "This isn't quite where I thought I'd find myself standing either." As they walked on, he looked around at the familiar forest and pictured himself sprinting through these trees as a young, eager, Rabin. "If you asked me two and a half years ago where I thought I'd be at 18 years old, I certainly wouldn't have predicted finding myself as an Rabin 'prisoner' with an expiration date on his time allowed in the camp." He smiled slightly. "But at least I'm enjoying myself a lot more these past few days than I have been in a long time."

Li glanced over at him with an eyebrow raised. "Really? Sacha and a Brom? Man, you must be more charming than you look. I'm guessing you left the Broms at some point after you met? Broms probably didn't take it well? I'm feeling that there's definitely a story there."

Jett snorted at her jab and smirked. "I suppose I am." He blinked and thought back to his time with the Broms, a part of his life that had begun to fade from his memory. "Yeah, I just kinda remember meeting her and forgetting about all that group stuff. When I left, or got kicked out, I honestly don't remember, it was a relief, and honestly, the Broms didn't care that much. They were just glad that a new pawn existed that they could use to toy with Sacha. They're kind of insane like that," he laughed.
Li shoved her hands in her pockets. "I can't blame you. That camp gets boring. I don't really see the point of grounding you either. What're you gonna do?" She shrugged. "But Sacha's the leader. It's her call. You picked the wrong Rabin to leave without a word. Next time, I'd go with someone who wasn't in a seat of power."

Jett shrugged. "I mean, the whole grounding me thing is clearly not for the sake of the Rabins or so she can keep an eye on her prisoners. It's just a personal thing... revenge, punishment, penance, whatever. But I'm sure she'll realize pretty soon how stupid it is." He laughed softly at her last comment as they continued walking. "Well, that would make things easier. But I didn't really choose her, it just happened," he shrugged. He glanced at Li and added hesitantly, "I was a Brom when I met her."

Li followed him, and sped up to match his pace. She laughed at his response and shook her head slightly. "Oh Sacha's gonna be pissed if she finds out. That should liven up the camp a bit. I like it." She grinned over at him. "You're not half bad. And I hate everyone. So that's pretty much the highest honor I can give."

Jett laughed and grinned at her. "Thank you, I suppose." He blinked at what she'd said a moment earlier and shrugged. "I don't mean to piss her off," he chuckles, "it just happens. I hate fighting with anyone, especially her," he admits. Jett rolled his head around his shoulders and shook his arms to get loose. "But I need this trip out to town to stay sane."
Li thought about the suggestion for a moment before nodding. "Sure. Sounds good to me." She stood and stretched for a moment. While Jett returned to his tent, she went to her own to grab some cash. She ducked back out quickly and was waiting as Jett left his tent. "Sooo.. I may have misread the situation but aren't you on house arrest? Well.. Tent arrest? Camp arrest? Whatever. You're grounded right?"

Jett walked out of his tent at a brisk pace and kept walking at that pace, hoping Li would follow him. He glanced around the camp as he disappeared into the trees, and responded without looking back at her, "Yep. Extremely grounded," and kept walking. After they were a ways away from the camp he glanced over his shoulder and grinned at her. "But here I am."
