Ambrose sticks his hand out to her with a grin. "Ambrose's my name." He then shrugs a bit at her question. "Hard to say. You seem fierce and ambitious enough, but I don't know Fabine well enough to tell you if that's all he expects from a second-in-command." He pauses a moment. "Have you guys ever had a second-in-command since you've been there and do you think that you're just as good as they were?"

Vera took his hand and shook it firmly with a nod. She paused and listened to him carefully. "No, we haven't had a second-in-command since I arrived," she sighed, then thought deeply for a moment. "I dunno, maybe I'll just talk to him or something?" she suggested hesitantly. "Let him know my intentions."

Li chuckled. "Sure thing, killer. I'm on it." She strolled over to the bar and talked with the bartender for a moment before returning to Jett holding an ice pack and a glass. "Here's your ice and here's a drink. I think you've earned it."

Jett accepted both gratefully. "Thanks, Li." He held the ice to his eye and breathed a sigh of relief at the cool touch. He held the drink with his other hand and began taking sips periodically. He glanced around and noticed a clock on the wall indicating that they were even later than he'd predicted. "Woah, we'd better start wandering back to camp," he suggested.

Ambrose shakes his head. "No worries whatsoever!" He grins at her. "If it makes you feel better, none of our Rabins are good enough to be second in command. I mean, many of us are just trying to survive, you know? No one really want to stir up the water or make things more difficult for us than they already are..." He then chuckles. "I think whenever Fabine realizes that you're second-in-command material, you'll do great!"

"Thanks," she sighed. Vera blinked and realized she still had no idea what the stranger's name was. "I'm Vera," she added, giving the Rabin a nod. After a moment of silence, she added hesitantly, "I know you barely know me and all, but honestly... Do you think I have any chance of becoming second-in-command?"

"Yeaaaah sorry you got punched. Again. You know this really isn't your week." Li laughed. "Hey, I appreciate you stepping but you didn't have to. I spend my evenings dodging arrows at the border. I can manage a creep at a club. The knight in shining armor thing was nice though. You're a good guy." She grinned at him. "This was fun. Thanks for getting me out of camp."

Jett smiled at her, glad she wasn't too offended by his stepping in. "No problem. You make sneaking out of camp totally worth it," he laughed. He winced slightly and added, "Could you ask the bartender if she has some ice, though?"

Li rolled her eyes at the man crumpled and then quickly turned to Jett. She grabbed his arm as she tries to assess the damage in the dim light. "Hey there, sir chivalry. How're you doing?"

Jett sighed and gained his balance with her help. "I'm okay, my eye's just hurting a bit," he replied, holding on hand on his throbbing eye. "That was fun," he laughed, only half-joking. He genuinely had had a great time prior to that last exchange.

"Hey!" Li shouted in surprise as the man's fist connected with Jett's face. She stepped between the two and aimed a kick at the guy's crotch. This douche is lucky I use a sword instead of a knife. Can't exactly stash a sword in your pocket.

Li hit the man right on her mark and sent him crumbling to his knees. He groaned in pain and forgot all about those two.

Jett was knocked backwards by the force of his blow. He tripped and almost fell to the ground, but instead bumped into some other dancers, and received some irritated glances as a result. He pinpointed the throbbing pain to his right eye and gently tested it with his hand. Yeah, definitely the eye, he thought as he winced away from his own touch. At least it's not my nose again, he thought sourly.

Ambrose nods slowly. "I'm pretty much joking." He chuckles. "But good luck with those accomplishments, I'm sure the Broms are oh so very glad to have you!" He nods slowly. "Well, who knows, maybe if you did something worth recognizing, Fabine might promote you on the spot!"

Vera laughed softly. "Well, I dunno about that." She paused, and realized she hadn't exactly presented herself as second-in-command material to this stranger. "I mean... when it comes to a fight, I can take someone out from a hundred feet away. I'll always do whatever's right, but I'm usually pretty good for taking orders," she trailed off, realizing she was trying to prove herself to this stranger. "I'm sorry," she chuckled, "I just don't really talk to anyone about this stuff."

Li's eyes flashed dangerously as her wrist was grabbed, but Jett stepped between her and the man before she could knee him in the groin. Her eyes widen slightly as Jett shoves the guy and she grabbed his arm. "Hey, it's fine. I can handle myself."

At the sound of her voice, the fire inside Jett vanished and he took a step back. "Yeah, you're right, I'm sorry." He turned and gave her an apologetic smile.

The man stumbled backwards slightly and snarled furiously. His friends knew him to be an angry drunk, and today was no exception. "Who th'hell d'you think you are?" he muttered, winding up and punching the boy straight in the face while he had his attention on the girl.

Ambrose bends down, picking up his sword before turning to face her. "Not sure. You seem nice, ambitious, and what would appear to be other great qualities to have on the Rabin side." He puts his sword in the sheath across his back before walking back over to her. "I mean...are you happy in the Broms? You could join the Rabins, we're much nicer and are accomplishing...more?"

Vera raised an eyebrow, then shook her head with a smile. "If you're trying to recruit me, I can tell you right now you're wasting your time," she murmured. "I've got so much more I want to accomplish here in the Broms," she smiled. She paused, and thought about if she was happy. "Well, maybe the people aren't the nicest, and what I'm chasing may be near impossible, but I'm not one for giving up, either," she said softly with determination.

Li glanced distastefully at the man before detaching his hand from her waist and stepping away. "No thanks pal. I'll pass." She turned to head back for the bar, planning on ordering another drink.

The man frowned, not one for being turned down. "C'mon swee'heart, lighten up, jus' one!" he mumbled, reaching out and grabbing her wrist tightly and yanking her back onto the dance floor.

Jett eyes widened furiously and he pulled away from the girl he'd been dancing with. He stormed over and stepped between Li and the man, growling, "Hey man, she told you to lay off." He put his hands on the man's shoulders and shoved him roughly.
