Leora is exceptionally short for her age and stature, standing below the heights of most of her Rateia kinsman. More notable, however, is her paler skin, leaning towards a crystal white shading with a tint of blue sprinkled inside of its patches. Across her skin lays markings of apparently ceremonial meaning, yet looking into the Rateia history reveals that they are just decoration and serve no purpose other than to look pretty. Leora doesn't like to admit this, of course. Though, with her smaller size, her nimble appearance is easily unmatched to most of her fellow comrades, giving her the ability to slip in-between cracks of the Monolith without breaking a sweat. In addition to the skinny and petite composition of her arms, waist and legs, it becomes her star attraction. It's also rumoured that Leora uses her life savings to maintain a youthful look, despite only being 36 and not exactly at the Rateian ageing milestone yet.
Of course, her clothing can sometimes be as extravagant as her fluttering personality. Off duty she dresses as if there is always someone to impress, hoping to catch the eyes of maybe one or two one-night stand candidates. A mixture of golden flowing dresses bagged from her homeworld and some more casual styles are reserved for the down-to-earth sessions she has aboard the Atlas. After all, she sees herself as a fun-loving, fluttery personality and thus tries to further that personality through the artistic environment of her fashion.
On duty, however, she surprisingly adheres to the disciplinary dress codes and wears her assigned clothing as intended. Even as a young spurt on Luthiana, Leora was surrounded by those who loved musical performances, Rateian films and all that sang out without a care. She became enthralled by the fantastic presentation of actors and actresses across the galaxy, seeking out her own collection of vid-docs, films and sometimes blacklisted setpieces for her to indulge within. Nowadays, some would admit that she had an obsession with films, spending a lot of her free time secretly watching them either on repeat or through extensive study. It's no doubt that she, herself, wants to make her own documentary or film within the coming years, and perhaps the Traveller Programme may be the inspiration or setting she needs to fulfil it. With that in mind, she is quite an avid photographer, going out of her way to snapshot every person behind their back, every scene outside in space and every platform that they get shat at on. If it creates excitement, then by the skin of her teeth she'll do it!

Whilst binge-watching a collection of romance films Leora found in her father's footlocker, she ended up taking an immediate interest in how the camera work functioned. She didn't care for the grotesque story nor the rather questionable scenes that littered it all, and so she turned her childhood into one of cinematography and acting. Easily enough, she joined up with the Luthiana Performing Arts academy and served her time picking up the techniques she could use to achieve stardom. And then she didn't. After being expelled for allegedly deleting a rival student's coursework to stop them from getting a better grade, her impulsive narcissism was met only with a failing understanding of what to do next. Her family didn't take too kindly with her being expelled, and so she was told to find work elsewhere.
Well, what does a failed actress do when they are strapped for cash? Of course, they go into the consumer production of...noodles? Along with two friends she made on Luthiana, Leora found her way onto the human colony of Mars, joining as low-wage noodle bar cooks and counter-staff for several years. During that time, what started as a degrading job became more exciting as she took yet another interest in the actual culinary art of creating the perfect dish. In her shoddy apartment she'd mix around with different vegetables, fruits and meats from across the galaxy, most of which she had to steal from stockpiles to actually get a grasp on. She found a second calling in life: cooking. However once again, she found herself closed off from pursuing the career further in her established job after being fired for allegedly stealing two hundred kilograms of Albion-whale meat from her supplier to test at home with.
Struck with grief, Leora ended up travelling once more with what little money she had left. Pocketing herself into the trousers of many human and Rateian hitchhikers, the journey of her life was settled on roaming for temporary jobs and locating another source of stable income. Job after job, menial labour after menial labour, she was pressed onward without any sense of direction. Rekindling that childlike joy would relight during this time. Excited with her newfound life, she became carefree and fluttery, as some would describe it. Taking her time to learn more about the world, she eventually picked up something brand new when a recruitment officer came across her dumpster diving.
Within a year, she was within the U.A.F. It was a huge leap from the lowlife jobs she'd been scrounging at for a very long time. Proper showers and cleaning mechanisms; food and kitchens to die for! Oh she was in heaven! The U.A.F. was originally a controversial pick in her eyes, because she wasn't keen on joining the military of the Coalition, yet it was indefinitely the most fun she'd ever felt. Eventually, she rose into the ranks and entered a specialised field of communications equipment and data-handling. Frequently associating with other branches of the military, she spent her days transmitting messages, repairing and maintaining ship relay systems and even committing to a few space-walks to fix rusty old satellites for locals. Yet another passion had been unearthed. Once more, it was here that her disciplined and extreme drive came through. And as a Sergeant it was her duty to keep those below her in line. Tutoring the new recruits to be on her level was exciting. It made her feel important and loved by her peers, rather than being looked down upon for misconduct.
Finally, her 34th birthday came through and she heard the news. The Andromeda Project. A one-way trip beyond the stars and void between their galaxies to find life, settle a new world and forge their own path. Oh it was very enticing from the get-go, yet she wasn't really too keen on it herself. She was happy for once. Her life had taken a great settlement and she was finally enjoying what she did every day. Waking up was no longer a chore but a gift. Why would she trade something she loved for a potentially harmful and life-ruining experience?
Well in reality she did end up choosing to volunteer. Why? Someone promised her a position extremely similar to what she already had and offered to bypass her way to become a Class-3 entrant, giving her mid-tier control over her field of work. In doing so, she immediately put her name forward and was drafted into the waiting programme, preparing herself through vigorous training courses to keep her up to date with the communications technology that was going to be implemented onto their expedition. After being expelled for allegedly deleting a rival student's coursework to stop them from getting a better grade, her impulsive narcissism was met only with a failing understanding of what to do next. Her family didn't take too kindly with her being expelled, and so she was told to find work elsewhere.
Well, what does a failed actress do when they are strapped for cash? Of course, they go into the consumer production of...noodles? Along with two friends she made on Luthiana, Leora found her way onto the human colony of Mars, joining as low-wage noodle bar cooks and counter-staff for several years. During that time, what started as a degrading job became more exciting as she took yet another interest in the actual culinary art of creating the perfect dish. In her shoddy apartment she'd mix around with different vegetables, fruits and meats from across the galaxy, most of which she had to steal from stockpiles to actually get a grasp on. She found a second calling in life: cooking. However once again, she found herself closed off from pursuing the career further in her established job after being fired for allegedly stealing two hundred kilograms of Albion-whale meat from her supplier to test at home with.
Struck with grief, Leora ended up travelling once more with what little money she had left. Pocketing herself into the trousers of many human and Rateian hitchhikers, the journey of her life was settled on roaming for temporary jobs and locating another source of stable income. Job after job, menial labour after menial labour, she was pressed onward without any sense of direction. Rekindling that childlike joy would relight during this time. Excited with her newfound life, she became carefree and fluttery, as some would describe it. Taking her time to learn more about the world, she eventually picked up something brand new when a recruitment officer came across her dumpster diving.
Within a year, she was within the U.A.F. It was a huge leap from the lowlife jobs she'd been scrounging at for a very long time. Proper showers and cleaning mechanisms; food and kitchens to die for! Oh she was in heaven! The U.A.F. was originally a controversial pick in her eyes, because she wasn't keen on joining the military of the Coalition, yet it was indefinitely the most fun she'd ever felt. Eventually, she rose into the ranks and entered a specialised field of communications equipment and data-handling. Frequently associating with other branches of the military, she spent her days transmitting messages, repairing and maintaining ship relay systems and even committing to a few space-walks to fix rusty old satellites for locals. Yet another passion had been unearthed. Once more, it was here that her disciplined and extreme drive came through. And as a Sergeant it was her duty to keep those below her in line. Tutoring the new recruits to be on her level was exciting. It made her feel important and loved by her peers, rather than being looked down upon for misconduct.
Finally, her 34th birthday came through and she heard the news. The Andromeda Project. A one-way trip beyond the stars and void between their galaxies to find life, settle a new world and forge their own path. Oh it was very enticing from the get-go, yet she wasn't really too keen on it herself. She was happy for once. Her life had taken a great settlement and she was finally enjoying what she did every day. Waking up was no longer a chore but a gift. Why would she trade something she loved for a potentially harmful and life-ruining experience?
Well in reality she did end up choosing to volunteer. Why? Someone promised her a position extremely similar to what she already had and offered to bypass her way to become a Class-3 entrant, giving her mid-tier control over her field of work. In doing so, she immediately put her name forward and was drafted into the waiting programme, preparing herself through vigorous training courses to keep her up to date with the communications technology that was going to be implemented onto their expedition. It was exciting, really. Not many people truly enjoyed her company at first but those she trained with did come around to her wits, style and peculiar manners of speech. Eventually, the day came for her to be put into cryosleep, and so she was. There wasn't much to say. It was going to be 700 years of sleeping, and who could argue with that. Neat, I will get to work on the first character. Probably an enhanced human supersoldier like that of the Spartans of the Halo series, or a Utarah defect.
Be warned though, going too far into the realm of supersoldier may delve into the realm of over-the-topness, so at least make sure things are limited or balanced to a major degree. You can discuss it in the discord channel here

Shit, I might be down to write the road on this,motherfucking, star way gone astray. It is acceptable to be an law bound service(butler) sentient android of some sort.
Law being
1: You may not through action or inaction allow a human to come to harm.
2: You must obey any order given by a human as long as it does not conflict with law 1.
3: You must protect your own existence as long it does not conflict with prior laws.
4: Human discomfort and inconvience should be minimized whenever possible as long it does not conflict with prior laws.
5: Individual humans should be considered the logical absolute sauce for what makes them comfortable and uncomfortable except in circumstances that conflict with law 1.
The last one is so the robot dosen't try to forcefully make you brush your teeth because you skipped a day but will do everything in thier power to make you take your insulin shot.
Whilst I don't have a problem with it, that might also work as a second character or a first one. Utarah based races as well offer that ideal, and if we find some workarounds the very same kind of thing with them. Like the statement above, I was intending on the major characters being only parts of the 4 main races. Secondary characters and more MC's being made by yourself are also allowed, just as I think it might be wise to mix things up a bit. We'll see, of course, it could work very well.

With hazel irises, Rahul is easily recognisable from his brothers and sisters back home, where he stood out as if it were fate for his arrival to Andromeda. Curled nicely into a neatly kept hairstyle, chipped in a dark spruce colouring, the pride of his face is somehow maintained even before and after removing headgear. According to Rahul, it's a natural haircut.
Beneath the general aesthetics of his native Albion face, Rahul boasts a rather sporting clothing line up for the field. Off duty, the common belief of less is more applies directly to his fashion style. Keeping minimalist casual styles in his wardrobe allows him to not become overly dressed nor under-clothed, the perfect match for any occasion. Mixing with long, short and several colours adds to its flavour. Headwear isn't essential, considering he at least likes to let his scalp breathe every once in a while. After all, Rahul, or for brevity Hal, loves technology to the point where he will hold it to the highest regard. A passion is one's dream, as they say. Hal simply can't get enough of it. He'll make sure people are up to date on their own gear, give regular checks to vitalise and maximise their ability and will try to protect those who may be in shitty positions. Outside of his technological standpoint, Rahul is a capable operative in the field, though far from the best. He'll look up to those better than him and praise them if they need it.

With a fascination and fixation purely on technological marvel, it isn't any surprise that going out and seeing what the cosmos had to offer was part of his code. Whilst Rahul loves to spread confidence amongst the team, he doesn't always hold it himself at any given moment. Throw him in front of technology and he'll talk for hours without taking a breath, but when combat situations start looking dicey there's always the chance that he'll doubt even the best of crewmen. Those who don't do that though, to him, are just overly optimistic, not that it's inherently a bad thing. After all, Rahul, or for brevity Hal, loves technology to the point where he will hold it to the highest regard. A passion is one's dream, as they say. Hal simply can't get enough of it. He'll make sure people are up to date on their own gear, give regular checks to vitalise and maximise their ability and will try to protect those who may be in shitty positions. Outside of his technological standpoint, Rahul is a capable operative in the field, though far from the best. He'll look up to those better than him and praise them if they need it.

Born on the far-fetched planet of Albion, located in the Nastroth Star System, Rahul was brought up as the youngest of a large, great family. The Barrette namesake derived from the first settlers of Albion, most notably known for their Indian and Persian heritage from yonders ago, and held true to their ways of tradition. Rahul, however, was never really the one to adhere to them. Sure, he respected the culture he was brought up in, but something always caught his eye. His sisters and brothers weren't too kind to his sudden intrigue into technology, despite how much they all depended on it. To Rahul, he saw it as a gateway into greatness, a future without any end and only the ability to keep pushing forward on the boundaries of technical advancement. Perceiving them more as tools, and more as a form of art, he eventually took the unexpected path into Albion's Technology Institution, where he began to advance in his own personal studies.
Now, Rahul was not a prodigal son. There was never a day where he went further than the greatest classmate he had, but what he did have was the charm and wit to hold his own. Adopting the nickname 'Hal' for mingling better, he soon found himself growing in knowledge and capabilities on what technological production, identification and studying was truly about. When other classmates saw the subject as a mean to riches or business success, Rahul always had more admirable goals that benefited everyone. And so, much to the distaste of his family once more, he finished his studies and ended up enlisting into the Albion Security force at the age of 16. Of course, they let him in because he wasn't going to be on the frontlines of any riots, not that many happened. Instead, he took a job behind the scenes, looking at artifacts of technology and studying what links they had to potential investigations that were ongoing. It wasn't the best job, nor did it pay well, but he liked what he was doing, and that was all that mattered.
Two years of serving didn't get him far. Hal grew tired and weary of not getting enough to study, nor really making an impact on people's lives. It was admirable to think as big as he did, but it was also rather stupid. During his second year in the security force he'd let slip a technological investigation he was ordered to drop, guiding leads to a conspiracy that had been covered up in Albion. Pressed into a rivalry and manhunt from his own people, he was quickly apprehended and served an additional year in prison, where he started to develop a less-than-bright outlook on life. The go-lucky innocence of Hal was decimated by his peers, who he'd once trusted. Now, left to sit in a cell and get frequent visits from disappointed family members, he eventually was given the option to plea for immunity via military service in the U.A.F.
What started out as a routine training squadron of misfits, hardened civilians and desperate workmen, Rahul was quickly picked up on his technological knowledge during training. Instead of putting him through further training, to which he only averaging out the requirements and nothing more, he was offered a transition into the UAFTAG Division for further training. Here, Rahul's life became enthralled with what drove him today. Surfacing under the UAFTAG's newest command, he was sent to explore countless planets, studying precursor technology and gathering as much knowledge as he could. Frequently associating with a Lorin named N'tall, he soon found his place of comfort. And of course, being a military establishment, there were occasions were criminals, third-party armies and rebels rose up in defiance and forced him into situations of combat. As much as he hated them, he knew they were necessary to pursue the technological advancement.
His Sergeant was a Utarah, easier said than done. Here, was Rahul's first relationship as well. Initially interested in the Utarah constructs and implementations of biological-synthetic combinations, the two ended up going on a few dates before eventually Rahul was crushed via the worst way to break up with a partner: in front of the whole platoon. It was embarrassing, yes, but funny to look back upon. After that, Hal continued his service for a few years, becoming a more distinguished combatant and an expert in his field. Eventually he rose to the rank of a Technical Operative, a vital component to scouting teams, expeditionary parties and combating unknown lifeforms.
But where things grow, and as much of a happy story Hal's life had seemed like, there was a dark turn as many lives were taken around. During his final year of service, the UAFTAG were deployed alongside COVSPEC squad 'Hotel Victor - 4 - 2' in a light Covert Operations scenario. Dealing with a recent uprising from criminal Rateian partisans still against reforming social constructs in the U.G.C. Eventually, the mission went south quickly, and members of Rahul's company were stranded on a luscious forest dwarf planet named 'Horato'. Horato was the bane of Hal's memories. Being sent down to retrieve his comrades ended in more death, more casualties and the devastation of a forest through guerrilla warfare. After what he saw, unspeakable to even profiles granted to the Andromeda Project, Hal stays in vigil over its past, unwanting to open up about the sights and sounds there.
After that day, he felt rather empty and dreamt only of a new start. The Andromeda Project's announcement was the only thing he needed, and a kickstart into the future he didn't understand was underway. Not even informing his family about where he was going, he formally left the U.A.F. and volunteered as a technical officer and operative for the upcoming expedition. And as all people were, he was shipped into cryogenics and slept for the 700 years it took to travel there, forgetting to realise that everyone he knew and loved before were dead before he'd wake up. And by surprise, the command in the Atlas woke him up prematurely, telling him that he was to become...a Traveller?
