So, I watching Made in Abyss and I was inspired and liked the idea of this town whose existence is to act as a settlement for adventurers that go on these dungeon crawling expedition.
The premise to incorporate that aspect in the rp is that, there's you're fantasy world filled with monsters and with that, there's lots of places littering the world teeming with monsters, danger, and most importantly loot!
To help train and regulate would be explorers from bum rushing dungeons and dying horribly, The Explorer's Society was founded and what they do is they have schools where you learn how to be an adventurer and explore dungeons in groups. Furthermore, they also create or collaborate with towns to act as outposts for their adventurers to operate in.
It's a symbiotic relationship where part of the loot found in their activities gets handed over to the Society and the explorers as payment and the other part goes into the local economy as they accommodate to the needs of these adventurers who'll live and spend their money there. The town also benefits from the explorers as it helps keep them safe from any monsters. Some towns if they get large and successful enough, end up becoming a hub city connecting to smaller settlements and having a major Explorer Society site.
The players will be playing recent hotshot graduates from one of these dungeon crawling academies now being assigned to an outpost town. Let's say it’s also the town you all grew up in. This town while charming, lacks the sort of amenities that a proper adventurer needs.
Never fear though, as you are also acting as overseers for this town which means you have direct input on what to build in the town to help you in your jobs as adventurers. Successful questing brings in rewards which can be used to fund your town and build it up which in turn makes you better equipped. Which in turns lets you take on more difficult assignment hat will also most likely be better paying successfully.
I am aiming to do a tabletop style game with this premise. As a dungeon crawler with no stats and stuff just doesn't feel right you know?
Anyway the best way to picture how the game works is to think of Etrian Odyssey, but way less harder and with some slight slice of life elements in between the the adventure stuff. Also unlike EO where you grind in the dungeons and level up your party, the path to power here is the accumulation of resources which then is used to literally build the town up.
I am looking for 3 players min and 6 max. In case more than 6 show interest, I think I could accommodate that by doing a round robin system where you have some players slotted to do the adventure and the others are free to RP doing other things.
This game is open to all levels of experience or lack thereof to tabletop. I my opinion the game should be easy to play once you learn the very basics, but I can help out if you’re new and don’t know what you’re doing.
