I've discovered that when I'm feeling too tired to work out, all I gotta do is watch that KENZO fragrance commercial with the girl in the green dress. #pumped

Bumping :) I'm assuming the polite policy is to wait in turns before posting again?
Tamrin | Cell 095

The first thing Tamrin became aware of was the thrum of ship's engines. Instinctively, before even opening his eyes, he reached out with the Force in an attempt to ascertain his surroundings. It was second nature and a skill he had honed since a very young age. And yet..... there was nothing. Nothing met his senses. Slowly, gingerly, Tamrin pulled himself into a sitting position and opened his eyes, taking stock of the chains binding his hands and ankles, the dim light, the meager food set before him, the cadence of a ship in motion. He blinked tightly, listening and reaching out with the Force again.

Nothing.

Tamrin couldn't feel anything in the Force. The Force was gone, severed from his awareness completely. His stomach lurched at the thought of permanence, but he fought against that feeling, shaking his head at himself. "Don't despair," he muttered to himself. Keep calm, stay rational, and find the source. For there had to be one, something that was actively cutting him off. He stretched his legs as best he could in his position, eyeing the tray of food with disgust. Eating meat was certainly allowed among his order, but they had certain conditions that had to be met, certain rites of respect to the animal that had been killed. Personally, Tamrin didn't care for it, but if it was the only option.... No. He didn't know what had been put into the food. He was still trying to shake off the stupor and after-effects of the stun weapons-

"Wake up maggots! We're almost at the game grounds. You're gonna want to be in top condition when we land. Hehehehe..." Tamrin bristled and pulled himself to his knees, glaring at the closed door. He would get out of here, and when he did, he would find the owner of that voice. And then-

"Anyone else there?"
Tamrin cut his train of thought off immediately, honing in on the second voice. Younger, quieter than the first, but still strong. And potentially across the hall from him.

"Where are we? Are you one of them?" came a second voice. Even quieter. Certainly female, and a little farther away. And definitely frightened, by the sound of her. A part of him wanted to wait to hear what else was said, but after only a second he found himself clearing his throat against the collar.

"We're definitely on a ship." He had to clear his throat again, his voice unexpectedly hoarse. "My name is Tamrin," he offered up to the walls around him. "Are you all right?"

Sorry friends. Will try to post something tomorrow. I am now typing from the computer I purchased to replace the computer I purchased to replace the computer that died. It's been exciting, to say the least :)
Character is finally posted! Sorry for the delay, I was without a computer for a few days. Will try to post an IC response tomorrow.

Tamrin | One in the Middle

Life is pretty ok right now! Here's a small window into my day so far:

Official goals for today:
1. Finish TEFL Certification (5 units left)
2. Clean room

Unofficial goal for today:
Decide if I want to go to this pool party I was randomly invited to just now?? It would mean a trip to Target to find a new suit. Good morning Jo, you usually feel pretty good about yourself, how is your confidence level today? Oh, you're still in bed? And it's after noon? Do you think you can get it high enough to go to a pool party in 7 hours?? SURE YOU CAN, LET'S DO THIS.

Amended goals for today:
3. Get out of bed.

Finishing up my character today. Still playing around with backstory, but he'll be one of the "middle of the road" types. I'm thinking of the Fighting Archaeologist trope.
Hi all! I'm "back in the saddle", as it were! I'm looking forward to diving in and taking part in the beautiful creative expression happening all over this site. Allow me to introduce myself:

Name: Jo
Age: 28
City: St. Louis
Vocation: Non-profit, BUT preparing to leave in the fall to teach English in China.
Family: Oldest of three, my sister's been living with me for the last couple years. Not married, currently dating a lovely man with a lovely dog. Youngest brother is in college and it's weird for me (he'll always be the baby brother, I don't care if he's 6'2'').
Hobbies: I'm a classical singer currently performing with a chamber chorus in the area. I'm also tutoring a Syrian refugee in English. I play D&D with some friends once a week.
Roleplay Experience: Oh my goodness, roleplaying was ALL I EVER DID when I was a teenager. I considered myself "Advanced" and had pretty high standards. I was probably the kind of roleplayer I would look at now and quickly label as "pretentious". But I haven't roleplayed regularly in probably a good 10 years. There are a number of reasons for that, most prominent being a lack of creativity and feeling like I didn't have a safe space to explore and make mistakes. Making the decision to live abroad is fulfilling a life's dream of mine, and it's opened so many avenues within myself. I feel like I've rediscovered the "me" that I shoved aside the second I left for college.

The siren song of the writing craft has been weaving it's way around me for the last couple years, calling me back. I feel like I've lost some skill, but this seems like a wonderful space to explore again. I look forward to befriending you folks and writing some wonderful stories together!
