@Jotunn Draugr Justice League doesn't exist in this universe! Gotta rework some of Gunrat's backstory so it's not the exact same as the JL role-play that died.

~KL~

Ah good to know. Edited!
Given that the other RP seems to be dying, I'd still like a chance to explore this character some more. Maybe make her into more of an anti-hero, or even a villain.

Archetype: Wildcard

Name: Xi Xiu (习秀)

Alias: Gunrat

Age: 25

Powers:
-Superhuman reflexes and flexibility
-Individually focusing eyes
-Pain resistance
-Metal plating under her scalp, forearms, and shins.
-The ability to dislocate any body part/joint at will.

-Note: A great deal of her power comes not from her physical ability, but from her connections to weapon-smugglers, anarchist groups, and other various factions. Her origins in China, and illegal immigration to America, means that no public record of her existence exists. As far as the government is concerned, she's a ghost.

Weaknesses: Bullets, knives, drowning, fire, explosions

Alignment: Walking the line

Personality: Traumatized, Logical, Trigger-happy, Prideful, Loyal

Appearance: Xiu is Chinese-American, 5'4", with a round, flat face, sickly pale skin, wide eyes, thin eyebrows, and a large forehead. Her head is shaved down the middle, with amber-died ponytails on either side. Her build is slim, but also very fit. She wears steel-toed boots, work jeans, and a thick leather jacket.

BRIEF Bio:
Storylines: Xiu was born the daughter of two Taiwanese political activists, who made it their goal in life to delegitimize the Chinese government, and incite civil war. When pro-Taiwan protests began breaking out around China in the 1990's, her parents were at the very front of the movement. Fearing that this civil unrest could spread, the government used military force to break up the protests, sending citizens fleeing to their homes. That night, police operatives broke into the homes of those involved in inciting the protests, including Xiu's parents. They were imprisoned, interrogated, and eventually killed, leaving her as a child of the state. Needless to say, no media sources were allowed to cover this, and the world went on completely unaware.
From early childhood, Xiu was raised by various agents of the Chinese Ministry of State Security. Their goal was to create an assassin to infiltrate the governments of Taiwan, Japan, and America giving China direct leverage over the life and death of any state officials who might stand in the country's way. Training included various mental and physical experiments and surgeries, in an attempt to make her more agile and durable than a normal human. This also necessitated that she be fluent in Chinese, Japanese, and English. Chemical and surgical treatments overclocked her brain, reinforced her muscle fibers, and replaced her joints, boosting her agility, intelligence, and flexibility beyond normal human means, but left her nervous system fried and numbed, and her personality a neurotic mess. In spite of these setbacks, her resourcefulness surpassed their expectations. As a teen, she was able to hack into the ministry's computer network, and review all of the ministry's data, including her own file. Learning of her parent's cause in full detail, and how expendable she was to the state that killed them, she decided that she owed nothing to the government that raised her. Distraught, she became uncooperative to her handlers and teachers. Before too long, it was decided that she was a lost cause, and was scheduled for execution. Learning of this, she subdued her guards, and escaped the facility.
Xiu traveled to Shanghai, where she survived for over a year by robbing street vendors and convenience stores. Eventually, she made it onto a freighter on its way to America. There she found a new purpose, modeling herself off of America's many superheroes. With the help of a couple anti-government hacker groups, she began monitoring and capturing low-level criminals, wannabe supervillains, and corrupt politicians. Unbound by the moral compass that leads most heroes, she sees herself as superior to them, and hopes to replace more traditional super-groups with her own vigilante, paramilitary organization.

Notes: An obsession with guns is a integral part of this character's personality, but she can be outfitted with only non-lethal rounds, if the story requires it.
Anybody care to get a post out? If you haven't made your first post yet, after claiming a nation, might be a good idea!
Only three posts since my last post... has anyone else dropped out of this? It had a strong start with something like 30 posts in no time at all and now it seems like we've hit a rut after losing Static. I know @Angel Vicky is dealing with some stuff in the real world, but nobody else has checked in for a bit.

True. Maybe try PM'ing some of them, to ask if they're still in?
Nation: The Kingdom of France
Location: West of the Holy Roman Empire, north of the Iberian Peninsula
Total Military Numbers: 25,000 - 35,000
Icon:

History: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_France
At a Hutterite general meeting, in one of Gottesland's few capitalist colonies.

A young woman sat, talking to an older one, as the men around them concerned themselves with the prospect of building a new barn.

"All these men around", the young woman grumbled."With their freedoms, and their institutional power."

"What on earth are you talking about, child?", the older woman inquired.

"These men", the first spat, "get to stay out later than their wives, they handle all the money, they get a choice of wardrobe beyond a bulky dress, and they get to vote. I see no reason why we women shouldn't get every right that they are entitled to."

"Oh my dear", the old woman sighed. "Where do you suppose the money that they handle comes from?"

"Well they work for it, of course."

"Yes they do, my dear. And hard. Karl, darling!", the old woman called, gesturing to one of the men in the room. "How's your shoulder, dear?"

"Ah Missus Muller, still as sore as ever. The doctor can't find anything to help it.", the young man reflected.

"Oh you poor dear, will you be taking time off to let it rest?"

"Hah!", he exclaimed. "Time off work for a sore shoulder? I'd never be able to show my face around the boys. Besides, the wife's been asking for a new necklace. I'd hate to let her down."

"She's a lucky girl, Karl." the old woman praised. "Say, have you seen Adrian?"

"No ma'am. He hasn't been back since they recruited him into the national guard."

"Oh my! I had no idea he had an interest in the army!"

"Small Adrian?", Karl chuckled. "The boy's never been in a fight in his life."

"So what got him into the guard?", Missus Muller inquired.

"Didn't you hear? The draft's been reinstated. Any able-bodied man could be called."

"Now how could they have possibly justified that?" Muller pondered. "Isn't forced service against our constitution?"

"In theory, yes ma'am", Karl confirmed. "That's why they passed military service as a requirement for the right to vote. If you're able to vote, you're obligated to serve. I believe they used some old example from the United States to justify it."

"Thank you Karl, dear." Missus Muller stated with a smile. "Oh, one more thing. Why do you suppose it is that women can't wear pants, like the men of Gottesland can?"

Karl paused, looking extremely puzzled.

"Well, why would they? It's not like there's a law against women dressing like men, but it would look ridiculous! I mean, imagine a man wearing a dress! Absolutely deviant! Besides, what would a Gottesland woman need pants for? She's not required to work, so what use would she have for work-clothes?"

"I don't know", Missus Muller concluded, with a sly glance at her young companion. "Was just wondering."

Just then, one of the other men tumbled to the ground with a hearty thump. As he lay on the floorboards, blood began gushing from his freshly broken nose.

"Good heavens!", the young woman screamed. "What happened?"

"That man," another of the men boomed, "insulted my wife's honour! He said she spoke seductively to him!"

This prompted a roar of protest around the room, prompting several attendees to walk up and spit on the bleeding gossiper, still rolling about on the floor.
Having come to terms with the incident, Missus Muller turned around to the young woman again.

"It's not as easy to be a man in Gottesland. Are you sure you want their life?"

The young woman furrowed her brow, conflicted.
"Aya!", Bluebird exclaimed, realizing that she hadn't brought any kryptonite bullets with her. Superboy walked toward the group, locked in a brain-dead stare toward Wonder Woman. He was moving quite slowly, for now, but Xiu had no idea how fast the hero could become when provoked.

She rummaged through her satchels, for something that might affect the looming monstrosity. Bullets weren't likely to be effective. Neither would a knife. Plunging her hand into a pouch strapped to her leg, her fingers found the head of a frag grenade. Given how obscenely powerful Superman was, Xiu assumed the group would have similar problems with this one. She pondered that it might be better to collapse the hallway on top of the drone, and find a different path around.

"Hey Bats!", she called, whipping the grenade out of her pocket and displaying it. "How 'bout we take a different route?"
Sorry guys, I posted this shortly before some unexpected real life stuff took my off RPGuild for awhile. If anyone's still interested though, I would love to try and get this up and running.

Yes. I'm still here, and have a bit of free time.
@Keyguyperson got it, thx for letting me know

Lol there you go. Not dead, just the slowest RP in human history XD.
As far as the cannon goes, we've only been fighting Brainiac for maybe 3 weeks or so. The military stepped in two days after Superman fell to Brainiac, however anything dependent on technology on the Eastern United States has all but completely been rendered useless including the big guns and bombs at the disposal of the President and military, hence why Metropolis isn't already a crater. Save for a few different brands of burner phones and anything tapping into foreign satellites, nothing works. The internet for that half of the U.S., phones, etc. has been useless and utilities have been randomly going out and teens are going mad without Facebook and digital tv. The military has been overseeing the evacuation of neighboring cities around Metropolis as well as holding the line and helping assist the League in keeping the threat contained to Metropolis. It's July the 3rd, Independence Day is a few short hours away. Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Capt. Marvel, Bluebird, St. William, and Shay [are we calling him 'Revenant' yet?] are going back into city limits in an attempt to free the survivors being held captive underneath the old location of the Daily Planet [now a cybernetic skyscraper of technology and DEATH]. Two hundred thousand survivors. Nightwing. Possibly Superboy. What was it Batman said in his journal entry at the very beginning of the RP?

"We can't possibly save them all, but how do you choose who lives and dies?"

Back at base camp, the remaining heroes and YJ crew are left to rest and heal from injuries from earlier in the day. Superbeast, Kid Flash, Starfire, Maxus-El, Dr. Light, Static, and the injured Raven are all present. However everything is going to get nuts when an unseen enemy arrives at base camp. It won't be something under the influence of Brainiac, but how will the enemy get past the military AND all of the metahumans walking around?

It's about to get Walking Dead up in here with everything that's about to go down LOL This is where the RP was moving towards from day one.

Awesome! Thanks for clarifying the setting a bit more. Sounds quite exciting!
