It seemed that things were going from bad to worse. Not only had he been found out, he was too close to a fire-type for his liking. There was a sea of feelings Valen was going through, but they all tied back to one thing--fear. How had he gotten himself into this situation again? Stupid, stupid, stupid! He was regretting and questioning all of his choices. He should have run away the moment he'd finished hearing their conversation. Or maybe he shouldn't have heard it at all. What had he been thinking?

Valen could hardly speak, the terror twisting his gut and tightening his throat. "I didn't find your conversation, I dunno what you're talking about." But the contradiction sounded weak, no matter how much he tried to play it up.

What were his options? Run? The Growlithe's nose would have him down in no time at all. Fight? He was outnumbered, two trainers to one. Perhaps the girl didn't have a pokemon, but Valen was going to assume she did. What kind of fight could he put up anyway? And his pokemon--his poor pokemon. Did they deserve to be dragged into this because of his stupid, reckless mistake? I'm the worst..

On the other hand, perhaps, going along with them, would buy some time, allow him to get help. Something? Go along with it, and maybe I can find a way out of it? Or... Or maybe... I mean, how tough can this guy be if he still has a Growlithe? Qwerty was handling herself pretty well yesterday. Maybe...

"Sure, yeah," he agreed, not knowing what else to do. Qwerty let out a noise of protest, alarmed. Basil hitched his breath. But Valen patted them both, rising. "That's okay. It'll be fine." He looked at the older trainers in front of him. "I'll come with you." Both his pokemon huddled close to him.

This is a dumb plan. But... It's better to try, I guess. Just when it seemed that he had tossed in the towel and was getting ready to give in, shoulders slumped and head down, his eyes met Qwerty's, and he whispered "Psybeam."

Qwerty fired off a prompt attack towards the Growlithe. If things get too bad, I'll tell them to get out of here, he thought. But right now, they had to at least try. Giving in when there was a chance to better the situation was the worst choice, after all.

@TheForgottenArc oh wow, I'm sorry that you have to leave but... On the flip side, I'm really happy that you get to pursue your career! I hope you have a ton of fun with your family and I wish you the best of luck! You grew as a writer and I'm sure that you will continue to grow.

@Balthazar007Understood about the search party, I think that's a great way to deal with Dan's circumstances. Maybe we can even still keep him in as an NPC or something, someone who shows up at times or something.
Whoops sorry about that. Edited.
"Sooooo," Indigo exhaled, looking up at the marble stairs. "You're saying, if we really want the whole experience, we should climb up there."

"I'd say so!" Zvi replied back, face broad with a grin.

".... Can we use Hermes and Pawpaw again?"

Zvi guffawed, slapping Indigo on the shoulder. It was with an unexpected amount of force, and Indigo winced. "Oh Indy, you can't just ride on pokemon all the time! Come on, that's barely a climb! You guys can handle it, the hard part's done anyways!"

"What's wrong with that..." Indigo muttered. Much to his dismay, Zvi began pushing him up the incline.

"Come on, Indigo! Where's that energy? Margo, Daniel, come on up!" Zvi was loud calling the others, as nor he nore Indigo knew whether they were following. But Zvi wanted to at the very least wanted to be inclusive.

Once the crew reached the top, Indigo remembered. Perhaps his pokemon would have liked to be part of this too. "Hey, I'm letting my pokemon out. I figure they probably want to see this place." In a flash, the creatures came out, impressed by where they were. They all seemed mesmerized by the ancient place and atmosphere. Hawka seemed unsually calm. Mimzy wasn't nearly as giggly or hyper as she usually was. Kovi and Neon flew to top of some pillars, gazing at the sky.

"Huh," Indigo muttered, surprised. "You guys gonna let your pokemon out?" He called out. "Dan? Margo?"

@Balthazar007forgot to tag you for zvi's response! Again, just wanted to see if any interesting information would pop up xD
Indigo was absorbed into Nobu's story thoroughly. Arceus? The... The God of pokemon, right? What kind of image would such a deity assume? It was beyond comprehension. "No way... Actual legendaries," he muttered. Though there was more he wanted to pester Nobu with, the old man seemed ready to be on his way.

Not without a parting gift, which Indigo thanked his lucky stars for. Too many times on the journey so far he'd been hungry due to lack of proper planning or not rationing out food intelligently. Free grub was one of his favorite gifts, and he knew he'd find himself--or his pokemon--snacking on it later on. They could count on it. The line about not losing the bag was a little off, Indigo thought, but he figured it was because Nobu was an old person, and old people were weird. Nothing more to it.

The crumbling but somehow still regal ruins of Cloud Temple were just head of them. The fog was dense around the area, which made sense as they had quite literally ridden on the backs of dragon's to arrive to such a majestic place. "Keep close," Indigo called out. The cellular service in the area--at best-- was capricious. Seeing the service bars on his pokedex fluctuate pulled him to the closer side of caution.

"So, what do you guys think of this place so far? Can't believe that one old guy said legendaries could be spotted here," Indigo said. Turning to Zvi, he asked, "hey, you ever see any crazy stuff around here?"

Valen had hardly expected to overhear a conversation of such caliber on what was supposed to be a routine shrine trip. The day had started off normal enough, with some warm up training by Qwerty and Basil.

Then they’d headed through the beautifully woodsy Silent Forest, appreciating the plethora of grass types that had made their home and helped craft the ambience of the area. The walk had been uneventful enough, with Basil and Qwerty had thoroughly enjoying the simple stroll. Qwerty especially had to zip around and examine what seemed to be every leaf and vine and flower. She couldn’t help it—the real world was so different than the digital one she had spent her life in.

When they had arrived to the shrine, with it’s verdant green pagoda roof and moss-covered, cobblestone walk, they had taken a moment to admire their surroundings. Even Basil, normally sarcastic and avoidant of Valen, had relaxed enough to even climb up on his shoulder. The place seemed quiet, solemn, but gentle and inviting all the same. In any case, it hadn’t at all seemed like there would have been anything suspicious going on.

So imagine Valen’s shock as he glanced in the direction of a conversation he shouldn’t have been hearing. True, maybe he shouldn’t have eavesdropped, but it was hard not to, what with how loud one of the people was being.

The Shrine Triangle? A third shrine? It was in the legend? Valen’s thoughts flashed back to the legend that he had heard just the night before. This was crazy! Had he truly stumbled upon such a controversy? A legend that had yet to be discovered? It was exciting—hadn’t this been what he had been dreaming about? But it was a terrifying reality check all the same. The people conversing seemed much older, stronger, and—not to mention—much more sinister than anyone he’d seen in his life.

Trying to be logical about his next move, he ticked off the options one by one. Leaving would have meant not getting potential information and though he was nervous, he wasn’t so afraid that he felt the need to leave immediately. His hiding spot was decent enough, and it hadn’t seemed like they had spotted him. He crouched down further. Do I act like I’m praying then? But then… If I head over and pray, they’re gonna know I’m around, and then they’re probably gonna leave to talk more, and I won’t be able to hear them anyways. That left one option then. I’m gonna wait this out, see what they have to say.

@Balthazar007 awesome!
Apologies for not having color tags. And I know we can control NPCs but I'm ngl, it just feels so much more immersive when you play them! Also i didn't want to make up anything for cloud temple because I figured you already had the history and such scoped out. Hope that was an okay post. Please let me know if I need to edit it or anything!
Indigo sipped at the stew, savoring the balance of spices, seasonings, and rich umami flavors that presented themselves. He was content to let Daniel and Nobu talk, trying his hardest not to think about grabbing a new Pokemon just for fun.

"Hey Nobu, are you from around here?" He asked, leaning back after finishing his bowl. " This place seems so... Mystical, in a way." The somewhat crumbled stone ruins of the Cloud Temple werr shrouded in literal and figurative mist, after all. "How did this Cloud Temple place come to be? Do you know how old it is? Do you know why it was built?"
