Fiction only makes as much sense as writers choose to give it. If I were to write a tale where I purposely made no sense, it would be whimsical and most probably many people would read it just to see what happens on the next page.
Reality doesn't make sense, until you figure out the reasons why it is the way it is, and then it's just sad.
