Salutations and Felicitations!

As my title alludes to I'm a student. I'm currently studying for my BA in History and Ancient History. I love diving into lore be it that of the past, or whether it be the brilliant product of the human imagination.

But just as fun I find is picking lore apart and making something new with it, and that's what draws me to good role-plays. Those little references shaped into new forms are really what helps to keep me hooked, just as much as good writing.

@Ermine I find myself confused and intrigued, is that a standard way to greet new people around here?
So being rather new to this site, and being only somewhat familiar with role playing (after a long hiatus). I thought I'd try something that I know quite well that being 40K.

To give a brief overview, this RP will be about an elite team of genetically engineered super soldiers known as Space Marines, undertaking elite spec ops missions against various Xenos. The ultimate goal of the Deathwatch Kill Team is to locate and rescue the Inquisitor Codename Osiris.

Of course this is all based on/in the 40K universe so it will be easier for people with a knowledge of that lore to take part. However even if you've no knowledge in the lore you can still take part, I'm going to try and design this in such a way that you can participate no matter your familiarity with the lore.
@Lady Amalthea Sounds awesome I'll give it a look.
@meadowlark

Sounds like an interesting RP, however it's not quite my cup of tea. I'd be interested in reading through it though once it gets going however, oh and thanks for the offer.
@Lady Amalthea

Okay then, sounds like a good way of doing things just jump right in and see how they work.

Greetings members of the role player guild.

I shan't lie I'm rather new to all this and have a fair bit to learn. The only other experience I've had with RP's in the past, was on a Warhammer 40,000 Lore forum and our RP's were always very informal.

Any advice for a new player would be immensely appreciated, particularly regarding how rules work for more structured RP's, especially regarding things like magic systems and basics such as determining whether attacks hit, wound etc. I understand that different GM's use different methods, but if there were any overarching system I should be aware of I'd be interested in finding out all I can so as to not slow down any RP's.

Above all I'm looking forward to getting back into role playing, it's been a while so I can't wait to start role playing with you all.
