As my title alludes to I'm a student. I'm currently studying for my BA in History and Ancient History. I love diving into lore be it that of the past, or whether it be the brilliant product of the human imagination.
But just as fun I find is picking lore apart and making something new with it, and that's what draws me to good role-plays. Those little references shaped into new forms are really what helps to keep me hooked, just as much as good writing.
Sebastian looked at the captain, the offer was substantial. Much more than he'd expected, especially if the woman was of such low importance. He concluded that the Captain wasn't telling him everything, but for the caps he was offering Sebastian didn't really care. As for the other mercs failing, well, he wasn't surprised. Gunners, the Talons all amateurs in comparison to what he was now capable of.
'I accept your terms captain, but if you don't mind I'll collect the caps on completion. This suit may make one disappear but it doesn't silence the noise generated by the wearer. But don't you worry, whoever this woman is she won't last long' with that Sebastian drew his Switch-Laser, the sniper barrel already screwed into place. Before the captain had a chance to reply about the caps Sebastian walked out of the room into what by that time had become night.
Ten minutes later Sebastian was on his way out of the Savreau district on his way to the Prolux district, rifle in hand. He smiled to himself behind his visor. It was good to be back on the job.
I'm thinking that you're all on a large ship en route to a paradise world. When I say large I mean the size of the Citadel from Mass Effect, so you'll all have large private quarters and can equip yourself quite resplendently if you want to.
I have considered running this with steampunk, but I've run a steampunk RP as of late and wanted to try something new. Also as you say, this way it has 100% more space.
Quick question, which district is which on the map? Because currently I'm in Savreaux and the Captain wants me to go to the Proulx district to deal with his target. But depending upon which is which that'll impact how long it will take Sebastian to get there.
Sebastian stands motionless through all of this until the Captain finished speaking. He looks at the markings on the map working out where he needed to go based on his limited knowledge of the local geography.
'I won't need an escort, but I don't work for free captain, how much is this job worth?' said Sebastian as he finished his assessment of the map sheathing his sword. 'Who is this woman, does she have any affiliations of note?'
Greetings I'm Karos, I'm not new to RP's by any sense of the word and would really like to try and get some regular RP's going. I'm not going to lie I'm an addict when it comes to good RP's. A little bit about me, I'm a student currently studying for my BA in History and Ancient History.
Some general information about my RP preferences:
1) I prefer to play male characters, being male I find it much easier. I've always found that when I write for female characters it just turns out atrociously.
2) Whilst I'm not entirely against MxM, I do prefer FxM, again this is because that's my orientation in real life and when I've tried MxM in the past it has always gone horribly.
3) I would like to try and work romance into most of my plots, it doesn't have to be a major part of the plot, but I do like to try and incorporate an element of it. With regards to this when it comes to mature content and scenes I'm open to most things provided that you don't take things too far. I don't want gratuitous smut getting in the way of good RP.
4) With regards to how often I can post I should be able to post at least once every other day. For now I've got a fair bit of free time so I should be able to post more often than that, but I will post every other day at a minimum. If at any point I won't be able to post for an extended period due to coursework or other assignments I will let you know, and I will definitely tell you if I need to drop out for any reason.
5) Regarding post length I'm not too picky I'd like to see 2-3 paragraphs on average, but if you're busy IRL or the RP would make a shorter response more appropriate then I don't mind. With things like spelling and grammar as long as what you're saying is coherent I don't mind. I'm not going to kill you for ending a sentence with a preposition or anything.
6) Just a quick heads up regarding timezones, I'm currently living in Britain and will be for the foreseeable future. That being said I'm open to running RP's with people from anywhere in the world, just thought it best to say as it has come up in the past.
With regards to plots I have a few ideas, however if you've got some ideas of your own please feel free to suggest 'em, I'm always open to new ideas.
Fandoms
We'd play original characters in RWBY's world of Remnant. I'm quite flexible with this one, we could be characters operating in the world as its affected by the cannon heroes, or we could run an alternate story where our characters take the place of the cannon heroes.
Again I'm really open to whatever you'd be interested to run with this one. I'm most familiar with the lore of Skyrim, but I do have a general knowledge of the Elder Scrolls lore (just don't go expecting to know exact bits of plot from say Morrowind). We could run characters in place of the Dragonborn, we could be the leaders of one of the guilds, etc.
Having recently really gotten into the setting (I've been playing the RPG for about 1/2 a year now) I'd be very interested in running a VTM story. I'm rather open as with the last two, although I prefer to play Camarilla characters, the Sabbat are too animalistic and brutal and just don't pique my interest as much.
Fantasy
An Inquisitor and their fellow Witch Hunters are on the trail of a nefarious witch who's coven is gathering for a final dread ritual. Will the group be able to stop them in time?
We would be the Inquisitor or one of the other Witch Hunters.
A vampire couple flee after they are ousted from their ancient home by Vampire Hunters who roused the locals against them. The RP would cover the events that occurred immediately after the couple's escape and their actions to evade the Hunters, whilst trying to rebuild their lives.
We'd play the Vampires.
A city of mages has become the last refuge for their kind, magic having been shunned over the rest of the world. The White Marble City located deep within the deserts of Lahmia seems like an idyllic refuge. That is before the other nations of the world descend on the City and its nascent kingdom to finish what they started.
We would either play two mages belonging to the Kingdom of The White Marble City, or one of us a mage of the White Marble City and the other a soldier bent on destroying the mages.
Sci-Fi
A human colony ship has been travelling the mirky blackness of space for millennia. Those who live aboard the vast craft have never known life beyond its white monochrome walls. But then they reach the planet their ancestors set off for all those years ago, Terra itself is just days away.
We'd play colonists aboard the ship, initially we'd be aboard the ship working out what to do once we arrive at Terra. Later on well we may either go to Terra depending on what's happened in the first stage or there may be a split.
Two aspirant assassins are sent on their final mission, they know that their ascension into their ancient order is dependent on their actions in this mission. Upon successfully completing their mission and returning triumphant to their orders hidden sanctuary however, they find their brothers and sisters massacred. They then decide to set out in order to discover what became of their brothers and sisters and who might be responsible for the attack.
We would play the aspirant assassins as they travel around the galaxy attempting to uncover the truth, whilst searching for any other survivors.
Mankind has begun to make their first forays out of the Milky Way, things haven't been easy though. They've encountered a number of hostile species along the way and have turned to more and more extreme methods to confront these new threats.
One of these solutions is the Mercury project, a top secret project designed to produce elite augmented combat troops ready to meet the new threats facing humanity.
There's a couple of ways I can see this working:
1) We're both 18 year old augment candidates undergoing the surgery and training necessary to become elite soldiers. The story would consist of our training before recounting our exploits whilst on campaign.
2) One of us is an augmented trooper assigned to protect a security agent dispatched to the outer rims of colonised space. The story recounts the adventures they then find themselves embroiled in.
3) One of us is an augment trooper working to train the next generation of augmented troops. The other reprises the role of a scientist working on the same batch of subjects.
Post Apocalyptic
Nobody knows what caused it, nobody has found a way to reverse it. One day the world simply woke up and the power was out. It was global, absolute, batteries, generators, solar panels the lot all rendered absolutely useless. Since the sundering the people of the world have tried their best to rebuild, but it hasn't been easy.
It has been at least a century since the first great frost arrived, it blanketed the earth freezing the oceans, sheathing the land in metres of ice. Despite their technological prowess mankind fell to the ravages of nature swiftly in all but the remotest parts of the world.
Now the world is a ball of ice, underneath which are buried the structures and treasures of the old world, but not everything beneath the ice is benevolent.
Steampunk
We play a couple, we are middle class revolutionaries secretly working to further the cause of the working classes. A vigilante has been seen stalking the streets, he has committed murder and other acts of terrorism to further his ends, whether he will prove a help or a hinderance remains to be seen.
So I really love the idea of the roaring 20's in America. The gangsters, booming industry, extravagant industrialists, the music the lot of it. I don't know why but I find it fascinating. I also have a great love of Sci-Fi, and would like to try putting the two together.
I was wondering whether there'd be any interest in this sort of RP. Think The Great Gatsby meets Star Wars, your characters would be free to be just about anything they wish within this world. Maybe you're a rich industrialist with a dark secret, perhaps you're a synth-jazz musician or even just a flapper along for the ride.
The RP would be all about how your various characters react to the new changing society you find yourself confronted with.
