"Yes. I want you to chose. Jess because you have to live with the consequences of your actions. I don't want you to regret doing something. Nor do I want to feel responsible because you end up doing something you regret." Roxy stormed to the fridge she jerked the door open. "Yes I will have to deal with some of the consequences but no more than I would have had to deal with in a different situation." She explained. She didn't want to go into detail but she supposed that she owed Jess an explanation of some sort.

She leaned against the counter. "Look you are taking way too much blame for this situation. This crap isn't happening because your here. It would have happened one way or another. My father has been looking for a way to get me back into the business. He would have found something eventually. You need to stop feeling like you caused this because you didn't."
Eventually Griffin drifted off into a restless sleep. He tossed and turned but never made a sound. He dreamed of the night his mother had been killed. He had barely been six and about to start school when his world changed for ever.

The day started with his mother waking him up. "Morning big boy. You go wash up while I get your clothes out. Your dad bought you something special." Griffin flinched at that but said nothing as he made his way to the bathroom. He took care of business and washed his hands and face.

Then went out to his room where he found a green suit waiting. His mom looked so proud he didn't have the heart to complain. He got dressed before following his mom downstairs. She lead him to the table where his father waited. "I want to know the results of the testing as soon as you have them Genevieve."

His mother kissed his father. "I am not calling you at work Giovanni." His mom was the only one he had ever seen stand up to his father and get away with it. "I will tell you when you get home."

His mom had told him that this test was just to make sure that he was ready for school. They had spent the summer making sure that he would do well. His father would not be happy if he failed.

After breakfast his mom took him to the school. The other kids have him weird looks and whispered whenever they saw him. He was uncomfortable when he saw he was the only one dressed in a suit. This made it difficult to focus on the tests. The test was harder than he thought it would be but he did his best.

When the tests were done the other kids played and talked on the playground. Griffin had no idea how to play, especially he had been given strikes instructions not to get his suit dirty. He stood near the wall watching the others. He tried to figure out why he was so different from the other kids.

Eventually his mom came out. She looked happy when she came out. She didn't say anything when she took his hand and lead him to the limo. Griffin knew something was wrong. His mom was rarely silent but she didnt say a word after she sent him to his room.

He spent the rest of the day going over the flashcards. His mother called him down when his father came home. "The results weren't what you hoped for Giovanni." Griffin saw the anger in his father's eyes he tried to hide behind his mom's legs but she wouldn't let him. "The teacher says it isnt the worse results. It's a disability that he can overcome."

"He's defective." Giovanni stated coldly aa he reached for Griffin. His mother pushed him behind her. "I am tired of you choosing him over me." His mom went to step back and tripped over him. She fell back hitting her head on the corner of stove. Blood r as n down her hair. Griffin wasn't fast enough to move from behind her. Griffin ended up trapped under his mother's dying body. He woke up as his father grabbed his hair.

Griffin had arranged to train on a male sub and a female sub. He was glad that was an option. He couldn't imagine allowing someone to touch what was his but he understood some people preferred to watch.

He decided to do the female first. He was pretty sure he wasn't attracted or interested in females but this would be the deciding factor in that. The woman was naked in the first position. He looked at her but nothing stirred in him. Maybe he was a robot he thought. He began to up button his shirt. He hadn't gotten more than a few buttons when he heard the woman gasp. He looked at her to see horror and pity in her eyes. He knew without looking he couldn't reveal the rest so he wanted out.

Griffin had hoped the reaction was a female thing. He didn't know a lot about them but had heard they were more sensitive than men. So he had gone to the second appointment. The male sub had waited for him in the first position. Once again he started to unbuttoned his shirt. He hadn't gotten half when the male gasped. He didn't even bother to see the other man's expression,
Roxy glared at Jess. "What part of don't let me influence your decision didn't you not understand?" She hadn't said that exactly but that's what she had been trying to say. "I don't want to be responsible for you choosing or not choosing what you do. You have to live with the consequences of your actions. That should be the only deciding factor. How it affects me shouldn't play a role in what you decide. I can handle whatever happens."

She wanted Jess to decide on her own. Until the empath did she wouldn't know how best to protect them. If the empath accepted her father's offer, which he wouldn't do until Jess' strength proved useful to him, then Roxy coUld focus on protecting the empath while disengaging herself from the world she hated. If the empath decided to decline her father's offer she could focus on defending the empath from her father's attack. He would push until he won or they proved them equal to him. She wanted to keep as close to the status quo of her agreement with her father until she knew what Jess wanted so she didn't force the empath into a place where she wasn't comfortable.
"I started throwing knives on my thirteenth birthday." Roxy answered as she picked up another knife. She remembered the day well. She had been so proud to get the throwing knives. She had thought they were a symbol that her father was starting to see that she could be a useful member of his organization. She had hoped from there she would be able to prove that she was worthy of being his heir. But things changed soon after that.

"The kitchen is all yours." Roxy assured Devika. She had no skill in the kitchen. She avoided it as much as possible. "I really don't have a preference when it comes to food. I'll eat anything." She preferred meat but since she couldn't cook it she didn't ask for it. She was curious how skilled Devika was not that it mattered. The other woman was obviously more comfortable in the kitchen than she would ever be.

Roxy shrugged as she placed her order. This had always been her world. Sure until she was sixteen she had been a willing participate in that world. She had been young and not completely aware of what she was involved with. She knew that wasn't an excuse. She wouldn't try to use it as one. She had done things she had known she were wrong. She couldn't say she regretted many of her actions but she didn't want to be that person anymore.

She paid for their food and headed out of the cafe before she continuing their conversation. "I don't want you to do anything you will regret Jess. I don't want you to do anything because you think it will make this situation better. I guarantee that if you do something you don't want to do it will only make things worse. Just try to what feels right for you. Don't worry about me or him. If you do it will only make things worse for one of us."

She doubt she was making any sense which only pissed her off. "Just forget it." She growled before storming into the shop. Jess doing what her father wanted would make her feel guilty and probably cause Jess all kinds of problems. She didn't want to be responsible for the empath taking the dark road. She could handle the darkness there was no need for Jess to do so too.

Roxy studied Devika. No one had ever asked her about her training. Not that many people knew about it. She picked up one of the knives. She twirled it. "If you want to learn I suppose I can teach you." She throw the knife across the room. It flew across the room landing in the center of target. She wasn't showing off. Not really. She was just warming up the same way she had for years. She had been throwing knives since she was thirteen. She had started learning hand to hand to hand combat much younger.

On the app Devika would see Roxy's list of previous purchases. Most of which was simple prepare foods like cereal, chips, cans of soup, microwave dinners, and simple things like that. She had no skill the kitchen so she mostly avoided it. The best she could do was an occasional eggs.
Roxy shrugged. It wasn't like she had any choice. The more comfortable Devika was the faster she would settle in. The faster she settled the smoother things would be for both of them. She made her way to the work out area of the apartment. She had a target on one wall and throwing knives lined up along another. In between the two was a fighting dummy. She headed towards it. "I rarely bother with breakfast. I doubt there is much but help yourself to whatever you find. I can show you the app I use for ordering groceries and we can place on order."
