"I thought I remembered reading that you were closer to seventeen when you were secluded." She had looked over the paperwork she had been sent when the agency had match them. She should have read it but she hadn't had the time to go through everything. Plus it had felt weird to read about someone she didn't know. It felt invasive. She figured that she would get to know Devika in person. They would have a lot of time to get to know each other.

After a few minutes the arrived at the restaurant. Roxy climbed out of the car. She followed the other's to the restaurant. She hung back. She wasn't really part of the group. She appreciated that they were willing to include her. Things would have been more awkward if they rejected her but she would have found a way to make it work. She always did.

Roxy shrugged. She knew some teenagers had jobs. But most of them worked time and went to school. That hadn't been an option for her. She had had to support herself. "My situation was different. I had to support myself. Doing stupid teenage stuff wasn't an option." She wasn't ashamed of her past but that didn't mean that she liked talking about it. It hadn't been easy. It had been the lowest point of her life.

"While you were probably enjoying your last little bit of freedom just in case you didn't have an anchor in your circle." No one knew when an empath's ability will activate. They say it during puberty. But everyone hit puberty at different times. Devika would have known that she might have to go isolation.

I can try. I wasn't sure where you said it but I was almost positive that you said it happened around 16. Maybe it was just a few months before she turned 17? Or even a couple weeks. That would explain her comment about doing normal teenager stuff at sixteen.

Roxy spent the next few days trying to get back into the groove of things. They settled into a routine of sorts. She relaxed a little. She tried to think of a way to help Jess. It wasnt that her world was a bad place. There were worse. Her father would do anything to make sure that his business and legacy survived. An empath would be a good way to know who he could trust and who he couldn't.

After some thought, Roxy decided that teaching Jess some self defense might give the other woman some confidence. Maybe that confidence would strengthen the bubble. She didn't know but she didn't think it would hurt. Plus Jess had expressed an interest in learning. She decided to ask the empath if she wanted to learn. Hopefully Jess would be open to the idea. "Hey Jess were you serious when you said you were interested in learning some of my routine?"

It would be interesting to see Jess try to talk Roxy into a bowl of questions. A training session might be more doable. I'll try to think of a way to have Roxy suggest that.

I'm a bit stuck as to what to do. I want them to get to know each other but their interactions have tense so it's hard to get them together casual.
