Bio

Long time casual role player who loves tales of adventure! I enjoy tabletop games, play-by-post, and even LARP!

Wild (and sometimes weird) west and medieval fantasy games with an 'old-school' D&D feel are my favorite.

In real life, I'm a software engineer and wanna-be farmer. I have a little garden and some chickens that like to destroy my flower beds. But I like 'em anyway and they all have names. ;) Sometimes they lay me some breakfast.

Other hobbies include dog agility and archery.

I found this picture and felt inspired to start an RP. Hoping for another player (or 2 or 3!) that wants to help me create a cool story. This is NOT intended to be the type of RP where the GM controls the environment and you only control your actions.

Is this a rescue scene? Or an ambush by an unaffiliated group? I tried to leave the intro loose enough to accommodate either! You decide!

This is a "make-it-up-as-we-go" RP. Characters may be introduced and developed through the RP. No character sheet required.

Combat should use the "defenders choice" to decide if an attack succeeds.

Have fun!

Rook cupped her cold and numb fingers to her mouth, blowing into her hands in a futile effort to warm them against the frigid temperature. The shackles around the ranger's wrists rattled, but the noise was barely audible over the constant creaking and rattling of the barred carriage that bore herself and the other prisoners along the forest road.

A flurry of snow blew in on them until her shoulders were damp through her linen shirt, her cloak lost in the foothills of the Pendar Mountains where the agents of Lord Octa had finally caught up with her. She felt a flutter of nervousness again at the idea of what might await her at Lord Octa's fortress; there was little doubt that's where they were headed. The man had a reputation of being ruthless in his interrogation methods.

Lost in despairing thoughts, Rook snapped her head up in surprise when a panicked shout went up from outside their cage.
Not finding any clues on the wardrobe, Lucy next tried the desk. "Come on, you gotta be here somewhere," she said aloud as she opened both drawers and flipped through every page in the notebooks to see if something had been written there. Nothing. She inspected the chair and then the bed... even the white nightgown. Still nothing.

She was starting to get frustrated. "Come on, give me a hint," she looked up at the speaker in the ceiling as if it might respond. When it stayed stubbornly silent, she sat down on the chair and rested her chin on her hand, trying not to feel defeated. The whole point of this was to meet people and here she was, still stuck in her room. Were the others already out making friends and having fun together?

She sighed and turned on her camera to flip through the pictures of the friends she had left behind before moving to this city, allowing herself a few moments of distraction. "Oh!" she exclaimed as she saw the last photo.

The young woman woke to the sound of the announcement and sat up quickly, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. The game! She was excited already to get started. Lucy swung her bare feet off the bed and onto the cold floor, taking note of her white nightgown. "Did I change into this?" she tried to remember, but the last thing she could think of was sitting on the couch in the waiting room.

She felt a quick surge of anger at the realization. She must have been drugged or something. She didn't remember consenting to that in the agreement she had signed. Of course, that agreement was long and she chided herself for not reading the fine print.

"...remember your code once you find it..." Lucy murmured and glanced around the room. She started with the wardrobe and found her jeans and her striped sweater and her camera. She changed quickly and inspected the wardrobe further, looking to see if anything had been written on the top or bottom of each shelf or on the sides, looking at each of the eight hangers in turn, even trying to move the wardrobe so that she could see behind it, only to find it had been bolted to the floor.
The captor announcement will be posted by themselves in

Does that first announcement come over a PA system? Or is it written note they each find in their rooms?
Mission: Blackmarsh

As the Wavehalk approached the Blackmarsh, the smell of fetid water, mixed with the occasional burst of fragrance from flowering plants, replaced the brisk, fresh air from earlier. The fisherman slowed the pace to barely a crawl as the water became shallower and more difficult to navigate. A cool mist grew steadily thicker, obscuring the way forward. Not far away something splashed in the water at the approach of the boat.

Soon enough, the captain stopped the craft completely as it's bottom was beginning to scrape the muck. "Can't get ya in no further. You'll have to go a foot from here..." he said apologetically. But as he looked into the forbidding mists, he was glad enough that he wasn't accompanying them.

"Best of luck to ya. I'll wait for ya here."
Has my squad jumped ship(pun slightly intended)?

I can post again for sure, but it seems to be just me lately.

Great question. I'll get a post in...

Name: Lucy
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Short bio: Grew up in a small town with a love for the outdoors and for animals, with a passion for photography. She's just moved to this city/town and is taking classes in photography as well as trying to start her own business as a photographer.
Easiest puzzle: Math
Hardest puzzle: Riddles
Other: Since she's new to the area, she thought the 'escape room' that she'd been invited to might be a good way to meet new people and maybe make a couple friends. She brought along her best digital camera in hopes of capturing some of the fun memories that were sure to be made.
<Snipped quote by Kelewen>

The two settings are simply ones I made up, so there is nothing to know about them.

I'll vote for the prison then, but I'd play either one. :)
