What? I thought it was his coin?
It's both because he is human and because he is a knight
This is just the Xianese perspective on their ranks. It doesn't effect your nation's ranks or how they view it.

Xi'an just has a different class system
Because in Xi'an warriors of esteem, such as knights, rank higher than any other human, regardless of income.

Since y'all aren't technically human Ragnor is actually considered lower ranking than a poor human.
@Ewin Rysell in Xi'an all of the warriors are demons, who out rank humans. Since they recognize the knights as honorable warriors they sit at the same level as the lowest level of demon on the social ladder.

Since Ragnor is not a demon, or a warrior, or a high ranking official in Xi'an he is actually considered below Tyron in rank.
With a motion of his hand the metal coin flew into the guard's hand, where he looked it over before sending it back using the same method. Although he was unable to read the characters it's symbol was easily recognized.

With another stomp the stone walls returned to the ground, seamlessly mating with the brick pacers. With a steep bow the guard said "I apologize for the hostilities good knight. I was over zealous in my duties. Sir Ragnest you have permission to request and audience with his Majesty"

Looking at the other man with some suspicion he asked "Do you vouch for your companion sir?"

Although Xi'an was a very isolated nation they were well aware of the knights of Vaolos. Their reputation for honor had earned them the coveted honor of being allowed to request an audience with the court, an honor denied to anyone below an Earl from outside their borders.
Wu regarded the creation with curiosity, though she thought the tongs defeated the point of a spoon. The chopsticks she'd provided Mol were intricately decorated with a black and gold laquer that featured pine needles.

She regarded the now properly groomed man infront of her with some feeling of success. His golden silk evening robe was decorated with Jade colored birds and trees, with a Ruby sash tight around his muscular waist. She'd done her best with his hair, forcing it into a tight pony tail bound in a Ruby silk ribbon.

It seemed a shame to keep his old clothes, but she bowed and agreed to the request. They'd be laundered and brought back repaired and clean.

"You have several hours until dinner, what would you care to do?" She asked respectfully
"Actually I was going to ask you the same thing." Ling replied offering a cup of tea to the skeleton "you see I'm very curious about how creatures of the earth, humans, managed to cast such a complicated and advanced spell. I'm almost a hundred years old, I'm a demon, and I couldn't even dream of being able to perform such a feat of magic."

Ling gestured out the open doors towards the garden outside "even our finest spellcasters can't save more than a small plant, but you saved a country."
"We make our own purposes, each and everyone of us. As crown prince, and future emperor, my purpose is to protect my people and provide for their happiness. So that they may each find their own purpose." Ling said while pouring two cups of mint tea

Xi'an, as the prince had noted, was not a nation that believed in destiny. Being ruled by demons from hell, all of whom had been there, gave the kingdom unique inside into the world beyond the veil. More specifically it's unplanned disorganized system that had no hierarchy to speak of.

"In Xi'an we believe it is the job of the government to protect and provide for its people. And the duty of the people to support the government in this endeavor. But no I am afraid that even the idea of destiny is unusual in my nation." Ling reiterated
Wu bit her lip hard as she resisted the urge to laugh. How could somebody eat without chopsticks? Suppressing images of orcs eating like dogs she collected her thoughts.

"You have much to learn. Let me change you so we can go teach you how to eat." She said
