Thankfully, Victoria agreed to her request and lowered her whip down to the desperate, uncoordinated Jasper. Grabbing onto the rope like structure, she wrapped it around her wrist a couple of loops as support, proving itself useful as it caught her, whenever she managed to slip on the uneven rock aperture, which happened rather frequently. Anyone below was more than likely getting pebbles and rock dust all over their face from the many times her foot slid off of stony holds, grainy, sediment erosion blowing off and settling down to others after her every single time. The task of climbing was surprisingly not very tiring for her, since she didn't have to lift much weight to move up a step, it was just the fact that her hand eye positioning was terrible. Leon on the other hand, was definitely not having any trouble at all. He scaled on ahead without much trouble, given he was utilizing his staff's latent advantages.

Jasper looked at his bottom from a couple meters beneath and admired his creativity. She had a staff as well, but was too afraid to put weight pressure on the wooden object for fear of snapping it in half. Instead, she had the rod secured diagonally across her back with a strap holding it to her torso.

'136. 137.' Jasper was mentally counting each ascending of her palm, the hold above was about to be her one hundred thirty-eighth grab. Everyone looked pooped out by now, many sweating and red faced from the work out. What made it less entertaining was that no one was really talking much because they were all so focused on staying glued tightly to the mountain wall. although some more comfortable humans were commenting and making small talk here and there, it was overall a "on the down low" kind of trip.

Boring would've been the perfect word to describe it, but Jasper thought too fast when out of nowhere, the guides started freaking out and telling them to get to the cave up top. Not quite sure what was going on, all she did was start to panic and frantically tried to make her way there. The weather was flipped upside down from an almost windless calm afternoon to a gusty rumbling. Jasper lost her holds on the rock wall and was hanging solely on Victoria's whip. Different wolves representing various elements would flash on and out of sight, snarling and threatening them. Next thing Jasper knew, she was tumbling southbound towards her awaiting death?

Consciousness surged back into her limp figure, sprawled over and sandy field. Forestry lessened the lethality of her impact, leaving her with a large cut on the rib cage, but luckily it was just near the surface, enough to bleed a little more that it should, but not fatal. Her vision was watery and white tinged, but she could feel warmish liquid at her fingertips. Turning her head to the side, she saw a small pool of blood, with a red head sitting up looking spooked. The bodily fluids seemed to be streaming from Riley, who she know fully recognized as her eyesight came into focus. Crawling forward, her own cut healed itself, the amulet around her neck, glowing lightly. Reaching for Riley, she held the girl's hand and closed her eyes, channeling healing energy into any injuries that the girl might've taken during the fall. By the time she was finished, her liquid drained a bit, but Riley looked alright, just really disoriented.
Yes, yes np. Making a post later in the afternoon.

Guides and humans were all grouped together again and with a short exchange of words, they were well on their way towards the dragon's den. The path was gradually elevating which each step of her Chocobo. She could tell because she was having a harder time staying on his back without slowly slipping backwards. Hollowed rocks formed various caves scattered about their path, while humongous trees surrounded the dirt road in forestry and shrubs. Clinging securely to Baboo's reigns, a sharp, steep wall of rocks came into view and she soon came to realize what they were going to do. The Chocobo's were flightless birds and it was a fact she could perceive quite easily since their wings were rather smaller in proportion, too small to support its overall body mass. Heart sinking to the pit of her stomach, the climb would be a concoction of terror from her fear of heights and terrible hand eye coordination. Rock climbing was an activity she had only ever tried once, much like horse back riding, but it was horrid all the same. Her biggest issue, grabbing onto supportive holds and getting her body to maneuver effectively.

"We're getting close." The road was growing steeper and forests caves surrounded the mountain.
"Sooo the dragon lives somewhere up there, in cave?" Riley asked.
"We can't just charge in. We'll need the element of surprise, we'll have to say good bye to the mounts for now."
"Won't it notice us though?"
"We'll just have to be extra quiet. So what are we waiting for, let's go get 'em!"

Hopping off her ride, she gave Baboo a pat and watched somewhat sadly as he joined the Chocobo line up and frowned as they marched off back the way they had come from. She had previously assumed that the birds would be staying with them to battle with the dragons, but the prediction has proven false since they were to continue on with the journey on foot. Jasper huffed a bit as she followed on after Ace who as usual, was tackling the task with eagerness and determination.

"There's no moss this time Jasper, but please do be careful."

Nodding her head, she was glad to have support from someone like Ace, always willing to try new things and harbouring a self-esteem that didn't seem to waver at the onset of a challenging task, especially life threatening ones. Following their lead, she carefully placed a firm hold on one of the smaller rocks and calculated where her foot should go before steadily lifting her body off of ground level and to the gradually steepening slope sky-bound.

“If you humans have trouble climbing up, tell me. You can grab on to my whip,”

The offer grabbed her attention almost immediately, the thought of much needed support in climbing this was wholly attractive and she wasn't about the turn that away.

"Miss, may I please hold onto your whip?" she asked shyly, still clinging strongly onto the rocky surface, but her gaze was pleading.
Hakuren Questionaire

1) What is it about Jasper, my poor poor baby, that has caused you to make her target for your pervertedness and teasing?

2) How come nothing that happens in Nowhere really scares you?

3) Do you care about getting back to earth or are you just on the quests just for the fun of it?

4) Who do you think has the highest possibility of dying or getting seriously injured in our upcoming chapter? Why?

5) Out of the guys in the group, who are you most likely to have a crush on if you were a girl?

6) Which guide do you favour the most and why?

7) Do you keep juicy secrets in your diary.. err.. notebook? If so, tell us the juiciest one.

8) If Victoria wasn't married, would you hit on her too?

9) Would you cry if your Chocobo died in battle?

10) If you weren't stuck doing these quests, what would you be doing in Nowhere instead?

Je finis! Just pick the ones you want to answer, don't want to overwhelm you since you have so much to respond to xD

"Jasper, if you'd prefer you can ride with me. They're gentle, these are the mounts given to those new to the infantry"

Drooping her head downwards a bit, she contemplated whether she should take Serenade's offer of riding together like partners, yet she didn't want to be a burden to both the poor bird and the dark-eared bunny. Surely Serenade would have hard time calming her down while also controlling the mount. Eyes pretending to be preoccupied as she already settled on not riding one, a fluffy warmth settled on her left shoulder which made her gasp lightly in surprise as she jerked away from the contact.

"See, one of them likes you already."

The Chocobo's eyes were huge, gleaming, and mesmerizing, reaching for her trust immediately. But still, she felt uneasy and indecisive about riding it. It pleaded with her, chirping purringly in encouragement and reassurance.

"They're nice!"

"Saddle up, Bear. It's not like it will eat you. Just don't let it look at you sideways."

The comment caught her attention quickly as she looked from the cute Chocobo to Harper who was riding in circular motions with his own, the bird looking somewhat sickly after every rotation. Serenade called for the line up of the giant birds and the one who was being patient with her bent its head down like a gentleman, presenting easy access to its back. Still extremely hesitant, she no longer wanted to trouble Serenade so she cautiously creeped a leg over the lowered neck and awkwardly panted her flat bottom on its back. Sensing that its rider had finally gotten on, it swooped itself back up, causing the albino to plop a little lower into a comfortable position rather than at the base of its neck.

Jasper's blinking sped up rapidly as she squealed in panicked shock as the Chocobo stragtened up to its full height again. It was tall enough that her feet no longer touched the ground. Most of the humans and the guide couple had already exited the stable to race outside while Serenade, herself, and a few of the shyer individuals stayed behind. Haku and Leon were formal types, probably staying for a valid logical reason.

Seeing Harper find the Chocobo's name by examining a tag around its neck, Jasper grabbed her Chocobo's so she would be able to call it something instead of just 'bird'. Getting hold of the plate, she read its name aloud, "Baboo.." It swivelled its head around in response, looking like it was smiling at her even though the creature possessed a beak instead of lips. It cantered softly behind Hakuren and Harper towards the barn doors.

Looking ahead, on the far side of the field near a large tree, she could make out cheerful figures of the other humans gathering at its base, looking happy, but their birds looking a little tired, probably recovering from the race.
