Interaction Between: Matthew and Trent then Matthew and Miriam

While his sister had decided to go to homeroom that morning, Matthew had decided to skip again and go sit under the tree they had the day before. When he got there he instantly shoved his earbuds in his ears and pressed play on his phone, letting his music drown out any other noise as he sat down leaning against the rough trunk of the tree.

Closing his eyes, Matt had begun to drift off when he felt his phone vibrate in the pocket of his hoodie. Pulling it out he noticed a text from an unknown number and simply shrugged it off for the time being. All he wanted to do was nap for a bit during homeroom time and just ignore the rest of the world, but as Matt felt his phone continue to vibrate every few seconds for the next minute it looked like he wasn’t going to be getting any sleep.

Letting out an angry sigh, he pushed himself into a sitting position and opened the messages. Scrolling to the top his face paled and his phone slipped from his hand to the ground. Matthew ran a hand across his face before running it through his hair as he stood up and began pacing.

This couldn’t be happening… Someone else knew… “Fuck… fuckfuckf uckfuck…” He didn’t know what he was going to do, now there was the risk of him going back to the stupid correctional place his parents sent him and even the risk of the secret getting out to the community which would surely end with worse punishments from his parents.

Did this person want something from him? Were they going to give Matthew a chance to try and keep them from posting the stupid picture of him kissing another boy? He sure hoped so because if not he was screwed.

From the ground Matt could hear his phone begin to vibrate as a call came in. With shaky hands and a shaky breath Matthew bent down and picked the phone up, answering it and brining it to his ear. “Hello?”

“Hey Matt. I really liked that picture of you showing your true colors. Didn’t you?” A voice answered through the phone, the voice was familiar but he wasn’t quite able to figure out who it was.

“Who is this? What do you want?!” Matthew all but shouted into his phone.

“I’m surprised you don’t recognize my voice, we used to be such great friends in church and even here at school Matty boy. But I guess I know what changed now, you must have had the hots for me and grew too nervous to hang out with me anymore.” Things finally clicked and Matt grew angry now knowing who it was.

“Trust me Trent. You aren’t my type.” He growled out, remembering the real reason they stopped being friends. “Now what the hell do you want? You obviously aren’t just showing me these pictures before you show it to everyone else, you would have just sent it to the whole community if you wanted everyone to see. So what’s the catch?”

A laugh was heard over the phone from Trent as Matt finished speaking, ”I’d be careful if I were you Archer. You are walking on thin ice and I have the only rope to pull you out if you were to fall in.” Matt bit down on his lip hard to keep from saying anything stupid. “But you are right. I do want something. I want you to help me with a conquest of mine. Something that will prove I can’t be stopped and can get anyone I want into bed while also giving you the ability to live your life normally without a single person knowing your little secret other than me and whoever else already knows.”

Matthew furrowed his eyebrows, not knowing why Trent would ask for help from him regarding a girl, it was obvious that Matt wasn’t a girl’s guy so what could Trent mean. “How do you expect me to help you with a g-” He froze as he realized just what girl Trent was talking about and it just made pure anger begin to build in the pit of his stomach.

As Matt was about to go off on Trent, Trent cut him off, “Now, now, now Matt. Don’t answer yet. Maybe get your sister’s opinion on this too; she does know what is happening. I texted her before calling you and she will probably be coming to see you soon. She doesn’t know about our little deal though so don’t tell her all of it. Just tell her that for now I want to get closer to her. I’d hate to spoil the ending.” With that the call ended and Matthew was left standing with a mixture of shock, anger, and sadness written on his face.

It felt like hours of him standing there as his thoughts clashed and collided, wondering where he went wrong and what he would do. He couldn’t just let his sister be thrown to the wolf that Trent is but he also didn’t want his secret getting out.

The hours to him were, in reality, only a few minutes, and it was after those few minutes that Miriam came bursting out the door to the school, when her eyes locked onto Matthew she immediately ran to him and hugged him tightly.
“Everything is going to be okay. We are going to take care of this. ” Miriam stepped back from the hug and looked over him to make sure he was fine physically and once she made sure she was she looked him in the eyes with a serious yet concerned expression, “Now, what does Trent want in order to keep him quiet? Whatever it is we can take care of.”

Matt shook his head, “No… no I can’t. I can’t have you do anything for me… I should just deal with the consequences of my actions…”

“Matthew Joseph Archer. You tell me right now or so help.”

“He wants to spend more time with you like a lot more time with you Mimi… You’re my baby sister I can’t throw you to a wolf like him to keep my secr-“ Matthew was cut off my his sister covering his mouth with her hand.

“First of all. Elizabeth is your baby sister, in fact she is our baby sister. I am not your baby sister. Second of all Matty, I told you when you got home that I’d help you no matter what and I meant that. I’m here to do that and always will be. I saw what the hellhole did to you and I promise I will do everything in my power to make sure you never step foot in one of those awful places again Matt. I won’t let them do that to you ever again. I especially won’t let Trent get away with this crap he is pulling if it is threatening your mental health, even if that means going along with what he wants. You mean too much to me Matt, you have played the protective big brother role our whole lives. Please let me take over this time and protect you.” Miriam finished her small speech and looked at her brother with hope in her eyes.

Looking at his sister, Matt couldn’t say no. She was far too determined at this point and saying no would just make her go behind his back to do it, which was not what he wanted. So he simply nodded causing his sister to smile, seeing her smile then lead to him smiling too.

“Good now that we have that settled let’s just relax for the rest of homeroom. No talking, no music, just the sound of the wind and nature until we have to face the rest of the day and begin putting up with more Trent in our lives.” The two siblings laughed lightly together before sitting down and leaning against the trunk of the tree, both just closing their eyes and relaxing for the rest of homeroom.

Does this make it better? I kind of was having that be a quirk for her that she constantly just has a lot going on but you are right that I had it a bit too overwhelming.

Bad boys bring heaven to you.

Matthew had gone home for the day leaving Miriam at the school to work on her photography project. The only problem was the girl currently had no subject for her to photograph. Leaning against her locker with her camera in hand, Miriam watched as students passed by looking for someone she knew who she could ask to be her subject. A sigh escaped her lips as she knew she’d probably just end up using her brother as her subject this time around and went to look through the pictures on her camera.

While clicking through her pictures, Miriam ended up on the picture of the boy on the roof from during homeroom. There was something intriguing about the boy, it helped that he was definitely photogenic, but there was also something else that she couldn’t place. The only problem was she didn’t know who he was, so chances were Miriam would never find out what it was that was causing her to be so interested in him.

Begrudgingly, Topher had gone to almost all of his classes and surprisingly paid attention. It helped that he had some of his more bearable subjects on that day, but other than that, he just wanted the day to move by as quickly as possible so paying attention was the only way to make that happen. Topher swaggered through the halls, letting the people around him move out of his way instead of weaving his way around them. He wasn’t intimidating, but people didn’t exactly know how to approach him.

Deciding it would be best to just use her brother as a subject, Miriam began walking while fiddling with her camera. She was deleting some pictures her brother had taken with her camera… very poorly she might add. This led Miriam to not be paying very much attention to her surroundings. That’s why she didn’t notice all the people splitting apart to let someone through, nor did she notice said person they were letting through. Not until she ran smack dab into him and proceeded to stumble back and fall on her butt barely keeping a hold of her camera, when Miriam finally looked up she froze upon seeing just who she ran into. It was the boy from the roof, the one who she couldn’t stop thinking about.

Toph had expected everyone to move around him, so he was a little shocked that someone had literally crashed right into him. His instincts didn’t kick in fast enough to catch her, but nonetheless, he stuck his hand out to help her up, his expression forming into an amused smirk. “You should really watch where you’re walking...” He started to say, pulling the girl up to her feet. Topher had never seen her before, so one word came to mind regarding his first impression: clumsy.

Talk about embarrassing, of course, she’d run into the person she was curious about. Miriam glanced up at the boy then at his hand, her face burning with embarrassment as she took his hand and let him pull her to her feet. ”I’m sorry I really should have been watching where I was going. I was a bit distracted...” Miriam trailed off looking at her camera in her hand for a moment before back up at the boy’s face. For a moment all she did was stare at it observing all the details before her eyes widened as she realized what she was doing. ”I… Uh… Um… Thank you for helping me up even though I ran into you.” She finally was able to get words out, hoping that he hadn’t noticed her staring at him for the time that she did.

Topher let his amused smirk widen into a playful grin. This girl sure was cute when she got flustered. It was in that moment that he recognized who she was- she was the preacher's daughter; clean as a whistle and as innocent as they come. How interesting. “Of course,” He drawled. Toph motioned to her camera, “Hopefully you didn’t break it, that’d be a shame.”

”Oh.. Uh..” Miriam looked down at her camera and messed with it, turning it on and checking a few settings to make sure it worked. ”Looks like it’s still in as good of condition as it was before.” The blonde looked back at him and pushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear, studying his face again she couldn’t help but notice just how attractive he was. It definitely helped that he seemed to be giving off an air of confidence. It wouldn’t surprise Miriam if he had girls falling for him left and right, honestly she wouldn’t blame them.

It was still bothering her that she didn’t recognize him as she thought she knew a good portion of the students at the school, but it looked as though she was wrong. Although she was internally scolding herself for ever letting someone like him go unnoticed by her before. Miriam then realized she once again had been staring, but this time for much longer causing her cheeks to heat up again. ”I’m uh- I’m Miriam by the way. Miriam Archer. Not that you really care but just in case you wanted to know who ran into you.” She swallowed hard and channeled her confident ‘church personality’ to help her get through the rest of the conversation. ”What’s your name?”

“Good, I’m glad I’m not liable.” Topher joked, running a hand through his brown hair. He watched as she looked at him for a few moments longer than really necessary, and yet, he didn’t mind that much. Watching the blush prick onto her cheeks, he couldn’t help but think to himself how easy it was to make her flustered, and it made him chuckle. Topher got stared at more often than not, but something about her was just making him want to stare right back. He didn’t though, because that wouldn’t be on brand.

“Jones, Christopher Jones. Kind of like Bond, James Bond but much younger and a little less dangerous. You can call me Topher though, my full name makes me sound like I’m 30 and smoke from a pipe.” He introduced himself, all the while pulling on his leather jacket, which was a force of habit.

”You wouldn’t be liable anyway. It was my fault for running into you.” Miriam smiled shrugging. She listened to him chuckle and didn’t quite know why but she simply brushed it off as he told her his name. Topher… It was unique, much like he was.

”So what makes you only a little less dangerous than James Bond, Topher?” She didn’t know what fueled her to say what she said, but it was unlike her normal self to say anything like it… and she liked that it seemed to be Topher bringing out a new side of her.

“Venture to the wild side and maybe you’ll find out. Topher spoke simply, a devilish glint in his eye. “Let’s just say there are many similarities between Mr. Bond and myself, except for the fact that he has the license to kill and I don’t.” He leaned in towards the blonde. “I’ve been told I’m pretty deadly though.”

”Well Topher Jones. How about you show me this ‘wild side’ and let me take a few pictures for a project of mine and I’ll decide for myself just how true that is.” Miriam smirked slightly at him staring straight into his eyes. It took her another moment to realize what she had been saying and when she did she became slightly flustered again, ”I mean... that is… if you don’t mind.” Her hand not holding her camera reached up instinctively and began to fiddle with her cross necklace. Miriam really didn’t understand what was getting into herself but she kind of liked it.

Topher was taken aback by how forward she was, but he liked it. Church girl certainly had a hidden edge that he so desperately wanted to awaken. Watching her fiddle with her cross made him want it to appear that much more. “As long as you get my good side in your photos, I suppose you could accompany me for the rest of the day.” He sent a wink her way, hopefully making her more flustered than she was before. “Hope you brought your earplugs, cause I have band practice in 15.” He looked around at the hoard of students walking through the halls. “Stick by me, I’d hate for you to get trampled after surviving our near fatal encounter.”

His wink caught her a bit off guard and caused Miriam to grow red in the face but tried to not show just how nervous she was. Recomposing herself by brushing a piece of her hair behind her ear she nodded as a response to getting his good side which in her mind was all of his sides from what she’s seen so far. Upon him mentioning band practice she raised an eyebrow slightly curious about how a guy like him, who was similar to those her mother referred to as ‘Boys with the Devils Charm’. Which really was just her mother’s odd way of saying bad boy.

”So you are a part of the band?” Miriam asked as she stuck close to Topher like he told her to. ”What instrument do you play?”

Topher started walking, and just as before, people moved around him, getting the occasional stare from the people passing by. “I am, indeed. Mr. Jonas runs it. I’m in his American History class and was flunking miserably at the beginning of the year, so he said if I joined the band, he’d give me an A. They were in desperate need of a guitarist, which is what I play.” He looked down at her, their height difference apparent. “Do you have any special talents?”

”No, not really.” Miriam met his eyes briefly before looking away. ”Just my photography which isn’t anything too special when compared to being able to play the guitar. Especially if you are so good that a teacher will give you an A just for joining the band. I mean that’s pretty amazing if you ask me.” She rambled on a bit before finally stopping, realizing she’d been rambling. To try to cover up her slight embarrassment she began playing with her necklace again, walking silently beside him.

“I’m pretty good, I won’t lie, it helps that I’m good with my hands…” Topher smirked suggestively, attempting to make the blonde blush again. He loved knowing that he could make a flush across her cheeks with only his words. “You’re in for a treat though, I promise.”

A searing blush crawled up her face and all Miriam wanted to do was hide her face in her hands, but now wasn’t the time. She couldn’t think of anything to say back to him though so she was stuck silently blushing, knowing that was probably the reaction he was looking for. Miriam was thankful when they finally arrived at the band room and let out a sigh of relief, words finally making their way out of her mouth as she got over her embarrassment. ”Well let’s not waste anymore time then.”

In Chosen 7 yrs ago Forum: Casual Roleplay

Sammael waited as the last three began to finally introduce themselves. The Water Chosen, Jonah, and the Shadow Chosen, Ruby, seemed quiet and and reserved. It didn't seem like he would have much of an issue with those two. Then there was his 'lovely' sister. Of all the people in this group, she would most certainly cause the most trouble for him.

Or at least, that is what Sammael thought. He was soon proven wrong when the ground below him started to move suddenly. "What the fu-?!" his voice was cut off before he could even finish his exclamation as he was forced into doing the splits. Sam winced in pain as flexibility certainly wasn't his strong suit and it took him a moment before he was finally able to stand back up. He of course knew the only person who would be able to do this... Lach. That one is going to be trouble.. he's lucky I can't do anything yet He made sure to shoot his newfound annoyance a glare with his eyes glowing golden until he felt his familiar peck at him to get his attention.

"It's not worth it, Sammael." He knew that Soleil was right, so he reluctantly turned away. It was just a score for him to settle some other day.

Esmeray held back a laugh only a small smile coming to her lips as she watched her brother fall into the splits. Flexible is a thing he was not so it had to have caused him pain, something she felt he deserved at this point. The entertainment was short lived though as people went back to doing their own thing, so she did too.

The pinkette was soon interrupted from her thoughts as Ethan approached her and brought her food. She looked to him shocked that the boy had just brought food over to her. It was the last thing she had expected, someone to bring her food especially after watching the trio glance at her a few times knowing they were definitely talking about her. So for one of the three to bring her food, especially Ethan... it was unexpected.

The last time she had seen Ethan was almost six months prior when he came to her and Thann in hopes of contacting Eurika and Flurissa. Unfortunately things hadn't ended well and that had caused Esmeray to believe he hated her especially with the such terrible news she gave him. But here he was giving her food which she gently took from his hand and then had to for a minute play keep away from Osseus before she could thank him.

"Thanks..." Esmeray muttered as Osseus landed on the ground and stomped away to find his own food.

Ethan looked to the side, avoiding eye contact. "I...I'm sorry I haven't said anything since...y'know." Ethan said slightly dejected. "I mean it wasn't your fault it was just really difficult to hear that and..." He sat down nearby to at least pretend to be comfortable. "You risked yourself just to help a stranger get closure, and after all that I didn't have the guts to thank you for at least trying. So...thanks." He said, not exactly expecting to open up out of the blue like that.

Esmeray stayed silent as he spoke taking a bite of food everynow and then. She definitely also wasn't expecting a thank you so when he thanked her, Esme froze and dropped what was left of her food staring at him, Osseus running out of the shadows and quickly devouring the food.

No one had ever thanked her before, not outside of the people who worshipped Azrail. "I-I... I didn't do anything worth a thank you..." Esmeray shook her head and looked down at her feet. She didn't deserve a thank you... She failed what she was supposed to do. Esme couldn't give him any closure, she couldn't even try and help all the trapped spirits. Something she should have been able to easily... but there were complications and she failed even that. Coming back to weak and on the verge of passing out. No Esme didn't deserve a thank you for that failure.

"I failed what I was asked to do. I don't deserve a thank you." Esmeray's voice was not as timid as it was earlier this time she was felt more sure of what she was saying. So she wanted to make sure it got across.

Ethan wasn't sure how to react to Esmeray insisting that she didn't deserve his thanks. He wasn't sure if it was humility or just self deprecation forcing her to talk this way. "You tried, you almost got hurt...it wasn't your fault that you-"

Of course in the midst of an emotional moment, Sammael appeared to spoil the mood. "It's alright, my dear sister. I'm sure you tried your hardest. Though I am surprised you only tried once, I thought you would be a little more dedicated than that." As much as he tried to cover it up, there was a slight hint of passive-aggresiveness in his voice.

After the small verbal jab towards his sister, Sam turned to Ethan. "I believe your name was Ethan, correct? It is my pleasure to be formally introduced to you."

Ethan looked skeptically at Sammael, one part of him briefly thinking that what he said matched with Esmeray's statement about not deserving thanks. He glanced at her, trying to get some kind of hint that what he was saying was false...Then he remembered the source. Even if Esmeray could have tried again, it would have been incredibly dangerous...that thing had seen her the first time, and given that three chosen weren't able to even truly damage it...even if she had given it her all, Ethan doubted that Esmeray would have been able to do anything about it. He looked at her as sympathetically as he could, but there was a very slight bit of doubt in his mind now.

He looked back at Sammael. "Right, Sammael. It's uh-" Ethan stopped himself, it was way too early to stir trouble in this group. Given his dislike for Sammael may have been unfounded..."Nice to meet you." He finished, deciding to keep friendly.

Sammael only made Esme feel worse about herself. Why hadn't she gone and tried again... Maybe if she had used their dead bodies she could have had a stronger connection and been able to free their spirits. It was too late to know now. Esme had messed up their chance for closure, one that they may never get back. "Sammael is right Ethan... I could have tried more. Done it differently. Used something else to connect with their spirits. I'm sorry..."

"I'm sure you did as much as you could... sis." It sounded so unnatural to call her that, even for him. He did know that it had to be done. His little comment to try and call her out in his introductions back fired. How was he supposed to know that everyone was dumb enough to actually trust HER of all people? He needed to gain their trust and fast.

He stood beside his sister, quickly wrapping his arm around her in a friendly manner and trying to act brotherly. Pulling her in and whispering in her ear so that only she could hear. "You might want to play along here 'sis.' After all, it would be a shame if our parents found out..." After leaning away he plastered a friendly smile onto his face.

Ethan was suspicious to say the least when Sam pulled Esmeray in to whisper. Something was up, but he already knew he wouldn't be able to get to the bottom of it right then and there. "Y'know, I'm sure if you really could've done anything differently. That old man that kept hitting me with his cane would have said something." Ethan said, not entirely certain himself, but not exactly willing to take back his thanks from before. Unlike him, Esmeray had gotten a close look at that thing. If there was even a chance that it could have hurt her, he'd rather she didn't try...at least not before that thing was ripped to pieces...

Esmeray froze up as Sammael put his arm around her and hugged her close to him, it was unnatural and not something she'd experienced since they were children. Then he threatened her. Knowing not to let her face give it away, she kept it neutral but felt a shiver run down her spine at the thought.

When he leaned away she gave him a small smile, "Thanks Samantha... you always know what to say to cheer me up." The words felt disgusting coming off her tongue but she had to play along... at least until she died out here and knew she wouldn't have to deal with her parents anymore. But if she was going to play along she was going to play the teasing sister part. Which she already did, just now she had to actually get along with him when not teasing him. So his nickname was back... well one of many...

At the mention of Thann, Esmeray's smile faltered slightly as her chest tightened. A sad chuckled left her lips as she remebered the many times he had whacked her in the head with his cane... a stubborn man he was. But one who just wanted what was best for her and for her to not be weighed down too much by her duties but also know just how important her role in life was. Before he had died he had already been on his death bed. Sick but staying stubborn as he didn't want to die on her birthday, he wanted to hold out for a few weeks past the first scare of his death. The stubborn man held out for three more months past her birthday. But with each day she got stronger, he grew closer to death. Then he was assassinated, she was blamed and then he wouldn't even speak to her in the spirit realm no matter how many times she tried. He'd only say it'd make her weaker if she couldn't accept his death without visiting him... still she tries and to this day, keeping the jewel from his ring around her own neck.

Meanwhile, a little dragon had been staring up at a beautiful griffin. He was captivated by the creature and was going to fly up to greet her but then the person she was perched on moved... and touched his Esme. He hated the person the beautiful creature perched on. It had been one of three people to be mean to her and do bad things. So he mixed one of his favorite things in with his anger after letting a few of his sharper teeth grow...

Osseus bit the squishy.

Sammael heard the nickname he hadn't heard in a long, long time. Samantha. He scowled at the name. Very few people were allowed to call him anything but Sammael and it was his biggest pet peeve to be called anything but that. He stood up, intending to walk away before his anger got the best of him. "You little-" He started to mumble before he got cut off. He felt a sharp pain, in his ass of all places. It took a moment for it to process before Sam yelled out in pain. "Get this damned thing off me!"

The griffin flew off of his shoulder and landed on the ground by Ethan and Esmeray, giving a slight chuckle. Soleil knew her master was in no real trouble as this had occured several times in the past. "It seems Osseus is very riled up today."

Sammael managed to finally pry the skeletal dragon off him by pulling it by the tail and after finally doing so he tossed it towards his sister. "Take your boney brat and keep him away from me! I'm tired of it doing that..." He complained before stomping off in another direction. Soleil flew up and perched again on his shoulder as he left the other two behind.

A laugh escaped Esmeray's lips, the first one in what felt like forever to the pinkette. Her laughter continued as her brother struggled with the small dragon biting his butt. The others would hear her, see her and probably think she was crazy. But she was just enjoying what she could for the time being.

Catching Osseus the girl grinned at her brother as she patted the little dragon on the head. "Sorry Samantha. You know how much Osseus likes to bite the 'squishy' as he calls it." There was no sense of sincerity in her apology as she watched her brother walk away.

Ethan stared slightly perturbed by Sammael's angry outburst. He could easily chalk it up to getting bit in the ass by some rather sharp teeth, but something told him that it was really just a glimpse of his real personality.

"Well, for what it's worth, your brother probably deserved that. Regardless of what you say, I'm still grateful you tried at all. You didn't owe me anything, so even if someone says you didn't do everything you could have, you still did something." With that, Ethan walked off with a single wave. He was definitely frustrated by the possibility that there had been any possibility of saving Eurika and Flurissa's souls back when Es first tried, but he still knew what they had to do now. If that thing was gone, it wouldn't be dangerous at all to contact them and get their closure...Even if he didn't tell Ka'ora, which he couldn't bring himself to, she would be more than willing if they encountered it again. This time though, Ethan would have to make sure he was there to keep the last bit of family he had alive.
