Okay, this has been bothering so I thought I'd ask. Is it pronounced like K-eye-ran a race or like kyr-curiosity-anne?

Along those same lines I have a few cultural questions.
Like, is modern media pretty much the same, or has it been censored against by the vampires. Stuff like Batman, was that not allowed because it portrays bats in a negative manner? Or Dracula? Is that still a story people laugh about with the inaccuracies? Did the vampires just allow the humans to do what they wished with books and movies? Are there tv shows specifically marketed for vampires vs humans?

Personality: Through many life lessons, Kanalie has become an adapter, a survivor. Change is an inevitability within life, something completely beyond her control, and she came to recognize this a long time ago. So instead of throwing her fists against the inevitable, she's taught herself to accept anything that comes her way, which isn't always as easy as she wishes it would be. It is not unheard of for her to grow flustered or uncertain of how to to adapt to a completely unexpected change and there are still things despite herself that she might dare to cling to. Still, she tries to make whatever changes come her way as least painful as possible. To the everyday onlooker, she is a well put together young girl, polite, orderly and generally calm. Any complaint to be had might be that she doesn't seem to take anything too seriously and can grow antsy in extended conversation. To people that are more familiar with her, they don't get much else beyond that except that she appears to be keeping a lot of things tucked away. That does not mean she is an unpleasant person to become friendly with, she is well versed in the proper proceedings of friendship and knows how to play the role. Those who are close to her are not unhappy.
One of the thing she tries -and occasionally fails- to hide is her insecurity in her own elemental affinity, light. It pales (ha) in comparison to the abilities her family and older brother has expressed and she is dissatisfied with the sparkling lights she can create.
Occasionally all of her hidden feelings can build up on her until she is forced to release it, usually not in the healthiest of ways.

Sexual Orientation: Completely dependent on the situation, but gender is not an obstacle (so basically pansexual).

Likes: Kanalie has a complete adoration of the stars and night sky and attempts to replicate it with her magic. She is pleased by extremes and likes both warm and cool weather/temperatures. She generally has her focus set on little things, is amused by the small details. She really loves things that can make her laugh as rare as it is. She likes cute things!

Dislikes: While she has learned to live with pretty much anything, there are a few things that test her composure. She is easily frightened by fast moving objects, she dislikes slimy things and hates false affection.

Habits: Avoiding things she's afraid of losing, painting her nails to calm down, subsequently chewing on them and ruining it. Star-gazing.

Other: Kanalie has an older brother at the school with a fire affinity that is well liked by most. His name is Shaun Harper.

Name: Bettan (Bett) Castor
Age: TBD, same as the Crown Prince
Role and Kingdom: Bett is the body double of the Crown Prince of Hiertania. He lives in Hiertania, but is secretly half Lutairian.
Skills: As he is the barkeep of a local inn, he is well versed in a multitude of alcoholic concoctions. Unfortunately since he has Lutairian blood in his veins he is completely weak to the stuff and doesn't drink himself unless he wants to make quite a scene. He is also decently well at cooking meals and many a famished traveler have given compliments on his Sheppard's Pie. As for fighting, he's been caught in the midst of numerous bar fights and knows how to hold his own in a brawl and diffuse the situation, but has knows nothing particularly disciplined. He is also mysteriously really good at cheating at most card/dice games.
Personality: He is an untrained, unruly mutt that wears his heart on his sleeve and a wolfish grin on his lips! He's never bothered to hide how he feels whenever he feels it and with how loud and obvious his emotions are, it would be difficult even if he tried. His general temperance is friendly and playful and he'd always rather make a friend than an enemy. Still, he can be rather hotheaded sometimes, especially when it comes to things he really believes in or is proud of. Since his role is an alternative to modern therapy, he likes to make people happy and help them with their issues, tending to grow distressed when he is put in a position of powerlessness. He absolutely glows under praise and is rather proud even when faced with his shortcomings.
Biography: His parents were a pair that made a horrendous mistake, one that resulted in his cursed birth. His father was a craftsman from Lutaires and had the misfortune to be attacked by Hiertanian thieves while traveling along the border. All of his well earned coin and precious belongings were stolen and it was only by the kindness of a Hiertanian innkeeper that allowed him a place to stay while he got back on his feet. He ended up staying a few months under her care, selling crafts to earn enough to return to his kingdom. It was only after he had left that Bett's mother realized that she was pregnant. She was able to hide the pregnancy for a while, but once it was too obvious she revealed a lie and said that she wasn't sure of the father's name, that he had just been a costumer passing by from the south. She was instantly shammed and labeled a whore with her bastard child and her clientele dropped to almost nothing. When Bett was born, she was relieved to find that he shared many of her features instead off his father's, but one thing was the same. He was born with brilliant red hair, something that since the years he was born, she was able to hide through indigo dye. She did anything she could to make sure he fit in among the Hiertanian people, to save their lives.
The two of them lived together in the mother's inn called The Pale Poppy. When Bett was young, they struggled to survive with very little funding due to their reputations turning everyone away, but eventually it was through their hard work, Bett's charisma and time that customers began to return and they managed to flourish a small bit. Some of Bett's behavior still reflects the hard times as he tends to be a bit of a hoarder and has very heated opinions about waste. His mother and him continued to thrive with her in charge of cleaning the Inn and him in charge of feeding their patrons and offering them spirits. His mother will forever be his weak point, he loves her to death and would do anything in the world for her.
Appearance: Mostly TBD with the crown prince but, his natural hair color is actually red but he dyes it to whatever color the prince is. He also has a small, faded black and white tattoo of a poppy on his shoulder in honor of his home. Has a few very easily hidden scars.
Extra: To scrape by as a child, Bett learned his way around gambling and especially how to cheat at it. Most of the time he avoided getting caught, but his faint scars are from whenever he couldn't.
His mother never actually told him about his father, but as he grew older he was easily able to guess where he was from and why it had to be hidden. He actually doesn't get a single fuck about finding his father, his mother is all he needs.
