Cody glanced at Audrianna as he came out of the bunker and then looked at the others. There were more of them ready to defend as needed and others who could repair the inside of the bunker. Directing the others as to what he needed them to do he looked at Audrianna. His eyes were tired and he was so unsure of himself with her and he couldn't figure out why.
"Audrianna? Can I see you for a moment?"Audrianna was helping sort out the damaged areas when she heard Cody call out to her. She looked up, soot on her face, and nodded.
"Sure." She stood up, wiped her hands on her pants and then walked over to where Cody was.
Cody took her hand in his and he pulled her with him a little further out so they could talk in private. He turned and looked at her softly. The confusion inside of him taking it's time to put into words how he felt.
"I.." He sighed and closed his eyes for just a moment.
"We have only just started seeing each other. We haven't been on a date or anything and yet I find myself full of jealousy when any of the guys show you attention. It seems to me that the loss of my fiance has made me more possessive than I realized? I'm not sure what to do about this. Any suggestions? I'm sure you can't be enjoying it."Audrianna sighed. There it was. Cody was being possessive because he was missing his fiance. It wasn't because he liked her the way she hoped he would. She knew it was too good to be true anyway. Who would want her when two sets of foster parents thought she was no good as a daughter. She bowed her head. She wanted to tell him that it was okay, that she didn't mind, that she'd still like to continue seeing him but it seemed pointless.
"It's okay. You don't have to continue hanging out with me if you don't want to."Cody looked at Audrianna stunned at her words.
"No! That's not what I meant at all." He put his arm around her at the waist and pulled her to him. His grin slowly emerged and he explained.
"I think that because I lost her I am more worried about losing you than maybe I should be. I don't want to come off as some kind of annoying jerk and I think maybe I am. Is there anything I can do to maybe be less of a jerk about it? Do you have any thoughts on the subject?"Audrianna slowly looked up.
That's not what he meant... Did she hear that right? Hope sparked in her chest. Maybe he did like her, after all.
"I-I don't mind it..." she said in a small voice.
Her words warmed his heart and he couldn't help the thrill of excitement her words gave him.
"You don't mind if I get jealous? Or you don't mind knowing that I can't stand the thought of another guy wanting to take you from me?" He whispered into her ear as he felt her body leaning against his. He groaned realizing that it was going to be some time before they could go into the bunker and be alone. He hugged her to him tightly and kissed her neck softly.
"So you don't mind that I call you mine in front of the others?"His words were overwhelming her, probably because it was the first time that she was hearing it from a guy...and a guy that seemed to like her at that.
"I don't mind either... I think...I'd be jealous if some girl were to come up to you and..." Her words trailed off as she felt his warm breath on her neck. She felt a thrill of excitement run through her when she felt his lips on her neck.
"Y-you want to call me yours? A-are you sure?" she stammered.
Cody kissed a trail to her lips and nodded as he murmured
"I've never been more positive about anything." He kissed her passionately forgetting for a moment where they were and what was going on. He broke apart from her when he heard metal clanging and realized the fans in the bunker had stopped. Lifting his head to the noise of the blades stopping he swore under his breath.
"Stay safe and close to the bunker ok? I have to go inside to try and fix it so we can get the air cleared out in there." He hated leaving her for even a moment or two but he didn't have a choice at this point. What was he going to do? Take her right there in the open. Good grief what was he thinking?
Cody's kissed left her weak in the knees and she had to hold on to him to steady herself. When he pulled away, she sighed. She wanted to ask him if she could help him out but he was gone before she could say anything. So all she could do was nod and then walk back into the bunker in a daze.
