Current Sorry I haven't been on in a few days, guys! I'm feeling sick, so going to retire, but will hopefully have time after work tomorrow.

Plans for today: clean, reply to Guild messages, work on belated Christmas gift. Repeat. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

Ah, 3a.m. We meet again. My sleep schedule's become really screwy, and it's messing with my ability to keep up with things. I promise I'm keeping a running tally of my PMs; responses may just be slow.

Today's agenda: 30 minutes of cleaning, 20 minutes of crochet/reading/Guild time; repeat until either house looks less terrifying or it is dark outside.

Yesterday, was dispirited because my interest check wasn't getting any hits. Today, bumped it and came back to three messages, TWO of them referencing The Princess Bride. [delighted cackling]

@Antarctic Termite Thank you much! I'll get her settled under the character tab and eagerly watch this space for new developments.
@Naril D'aww, thank you much! :3 And yay! Can't wait to see what our little band of misfits is going to get into--and to see how they develop together, as a team.
@Antarctic Termite Awesome, thank you! I decided to revive a character I made for another role-play that was very short-lived. I hope you like her!

This sounds like loads of fun! Which is probably why so many other applicants have beat me here. Do you have room for one more, @Antarctic Termite, or are you pretty full up for the moment?
1) I am super new to the comic scene, so I've been lucky in that I haven't experienced any of the horror stories I've heard about from other girls, but I'm forever-wary. Our local store has ladies on staff, which probably helps a lot.

2) Naril, you and my bestie have like the exact same am-reading/to-be-read list! She's going to lend me Rat Queens, and I'm hoping she'll pass along The Wicked and the Divine, which I think she's going to buy next. I got the first issue of Ghost for a dollar, and I'd rec that to you and Austronaut, if you guys are looking for something else to read. :)

3) Post is up! I might tweak it tomorrow, as I'm still not quite happy with it, but the role-play must go on! And just as Naril was kind enough to do before, I should put out a disclaimer--Habibi gave me the info about Robert using his phone camera; I totally wouldn't have controlled his character without his permission.
Mandy couldn’t help it—she sat perfectly still, ears straining for any sound from the next room. She kept her eyes on the rod, so she could at least give the impression of focusing on it instead of what was going on outside, but Sol would probably know. If anyone on the team was likely to guess how good her hearing was, it would be him.

Him or Morgan, who was off investigating the sound they were pretending not to worry about. Mandy was embarrassingly relieved that she’d left the wand behind.

She was distracted by something moving out of the corner of her eye; when she turned to look, she found Robert taking pictures of the object with his cell phone—thorough as always. She would ask him, later, to send them to her, just as she’d ask Emma for a copy of her notes. The more information she had, the more she could do with it.

“Cat,” she said quietly, trying not to flinch as she heard a second thud, loud enough that the others probably heard it, too, “you said that you don’t see as many ghosts now as you used to. How many were there before? Did you notice specific ones had disappeared, or do you just feel the places where they’re supposed to be? Or...something else?”

Mandy bit her tongue before she could say anything else. In her mind, those three questions had already splintered into others, many more that to untrained ears would sound almost the same. Specificity was key, and even as she tried not to overwhelm Cat by giving her more questions at a time than she could answer, she worried that she hadn’t asked the right ones.

She can’t have seen the ghosts of everyone who’s ever died in Seattle, Mandy thought, unable to stop her brain as easily as she’d stopped her mouth. Unless it’s like being at a party, where you can hear the people closest to you, and everyone else just blends into a dull roar. You would notice if a room full of people gradually started to empty, even if you didn’t necessarily see each one leave or know who they were.

Still, she didn’t know enough about ghosts or how they worked—how many people, for example, actually became ghosts, and what the requirements were—to come up with a working theory. If Cat couldn’t tell her, this was going to require research.
Major apologies! My post is not up, but at least partly drafted. I'm trying to make Mandy do something more than just sit and think for a few paragraphs, as I'm sure you guys would all like to see her do something more interesting! I'm very tired, but will try to have it up before I go to work tomorrow. Again, I'm really sorry to keep doing this to you!
That sounds like so much fun, Naril! And I know there's nothing quite like coming home. And Austronaut, long weekends are pretty much always the best. :)

My weekend's been good so far! Had a girly day with two of my friends today, including a trip to our local comic book store, which is really nice. The staff is friendly and the vibe is good--not the kind of place that makes you feel bad for being a girl the moment you walk through the door. I got two comics for a dollar each that I'm excited to try!

Anyway, I'll have a post up tomorrow. Hope everyone else is doing well!
CREEEEEEPY post, @Naril! :D Definitely worth the wait! I hope things are settling down for you--and for everyone else! I remember that struggle, @vietmyke; I wish you the best of luck this week. Knowing that it has to end eventually doesn't always help when you're in the thick of it, but I hope you're at least seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!
