|| Written test || "I know a lot but I tend to jumble and jump whever I try to write things down."
|| Practical test || "God this sucked. Look at me!"
|| Written essay topic || "I wrote about how I wanted to change the world by inventing solutions we are faced with today but also tomorrow. There's a lot that still needs to be done in this world. I don't want to be a superhero that flies through NYC to beat up villains. I want to the girl on the cover of Forbes, and take an interview about how my inventions changed the world."
|| Video supplement || "I send in a five minute video completely explaining my goals and potential. It was very professional even if I say so myself. It wasn't just me standing in front of a dia presentation. It was a full video, moving behind me as I talked. What did I talk about? The same as I wrote in my essay. I want to be an inspiration and use my inventions to solve the problems of today and tomorrow!"
Miss Carter's written test scores were in the top 5% scores. Though she took frequent penalties over convoluted sentence structure and somewhat archaic vocabulary at times. Nevertheless, the factual information in her test is accurate and detailed. She possessed the insight and an understanding of the real world, especially in terms of the Gifted. Some concerns were raised when it came to her situational judgment tests. It would appear she answered with a heady mixture of youthful idealism combined with a sometimes somewhat morally grey approach.
|| Practical test || "God this sucked. Look at me!"
To put it bluntly, miss Carter showed no real gifts in absolute physical tests. However, she surprised some when she was confronted with real problems by devising, on the spot, a mechanical method to overcome said obstacle. Her grades in strength, power, and agility are subpar even for a standard human. Though her frequent jogging has given her higher grades in endurance. So routine physical exercise will be required. She is a remarkably strong-willed and creative individual.

I don't want to be a superhero that flies through NYC to beat up villains. I want to the girl on the cover of Forbes, and take an interview about how my inventions changed the world."
Once again youthful idealism shines through heavily in miss Carter's writing. Still, her desires cannot be misunderstood. She clearly wants to help the world and she seems to understand her own strengths and weakness well enough. There is certainly a measure of personal glory behind her dreams but this is to be expected.

I want to be an inspiration and use my inventions to solve the problems of today and tomorrow!"
Miss Carter's video supplement further exemplified that she is not an average Gifted willing to achieve a hero license just so they can use their powers beyond the confines of their home. She has clear goals and wants to exercise a positive influence on the world. Some of the Social Media Studies department have raised a few points though. It would appear that miss Carter is very factual and straightforward. When it comes to branding this could make her appear cold, distant, and maybe even aloof. Obligatory Social Media Studies should be absorbed into her curriculum.

____________________________________________________________________Melissa - when she entered Crestview - finally felt like she belonged somewhere. She was a little off, of course. The girl never went far from her room without at least three pens and a notepad. Even then she just scribbled weird stuff even she couldn't decipher a few days later. So she was definitely seen as the weird girl, but she was the weird girl in a school filled with weird people. Beyond the weird "shell" she was nice and caring. Though sometimes fairly bad at catching social cues. Still, you could always have fun with her. Sometimes too much fun. Mel definitely pushed boundaries.

Sub-superhuman intelligence - Melissa's intelligence in of itself is not considered superhuman. However, it is clear that this capacity was born from her episodes of hyper-intelligence and inspiration. Hence why it is added to her abilities. Mel can effortlessly learn physics, maths and chemistry. As if she has some sort of unique insight that makes understanding these complex topics easy for her.
Hyper-intelligence episodes - The reason behind her carrying around a notepad at all time is because sometimes she gets an episode of intense intelligence. She enters what she refers to as her "flowstate" when she just starts writing down words and equations with little regard of her environment. These moments of intelligence, while random in nature, often form the core of an invention that she will soon create. Said invention almost always push the boundaries of known physics and chemistry in strange ways. While scientists have made attempts to study these inventions, it was deemed more useful to have Melissa continue working to connect the seemingly unconnected dots for them.
Hyper-insight episodes - These episodes are akin to her episodes of Hyper-intelligence. However, these episodes differ in that they only happen when Melissa is confronted with a particular problem that she cannot seem to solve. These are uniquely only mechanical problems.

Limited field intelligence - While Melissa possesses a clever mind, it is limited in which fields it shines. Other fields like sociology, psychology or languages leave Melissa dumbfounded. Oddly enough even the production of music - something often associated to high intelligence - is extremely hard for her.
Limited Controlled Episodes - The episodes that Melissa gets are at their core very uncontrolled and unpredictable. It can happen at any time. During class, during sleep, during dinner or even social activities. This unpredictabilities has come into the way of a regular life more than once. Additionally it has actively harmed Melissa's quality of life. Amnesia medication seem to offer a measure of control, while anxiety medication seems to have a slightly heralding effect. However, Melissa has professed that she is not fond of taking these medications.
Obession - It is hard to say whether or not the episodes themselves invoke a sense of obsession or the promise of results that come from them. After an episode, it has been observed that Melissa will work tirelessly and obsessively to manifest the information or the insight she acquired.

Melissa’s superhero outfit is far from complete. So far she has mostly been putting things together after school hours. It is armor made of perfectly fitting, curved plates. So far it's powered by self-designed batteries. The intended weapons for the suit are what she refers as “Energy Fluxation Projectors”. So far prototypes have only been able to project kinetic force.
The plates are painted black and gray.

Nicholas Hult - Crestview Guidance Councillor - Nicholas, or Nick as Mel called him, was a man who immediately saw that she was a conflicted young adult. At the start of her freshmen year, he insisted on weekly one-hour sessions to both follow up on her academic and personal achievements. In the first two months, she hated those sessions. Yet Nick kept going and eventually broke through to Melissa. His directions in her first year at Crestview were invaluable as he corrected her sometimes somewhat neurotic behavior simply by slowing her down. Nearing the end of the year she wrote a letter to him thanking him for all the help he gave her and telling him she was looking forward to seeing her next year. That night the fire broke out. Mel lost the letter and Nick.

There isn’t much to say about Melissa’s life. She was born as an only child into an average Ohio family. Both of her parents loved her deeply and completely. She went to average schools until elementary. When it became clear that Mel had both an exceptional intellect and some strange behavioral issues she was subjected to a secondary superpower test that is generally given to early teens.
When it became clear that she was indeed superpowered the government took her into custody immediately. She was declared a danger to her own environment. Her parents, forced by the government, signed an agreement to let her be raised at a dedicated facility. When she would turn eighteen she would be deemed safe enough to live on her own, gifted enough to study at an academy like Crystal Peak, or judged unfit for society. Luckily for Melissa, she was deemed gifted enough. Until then though, she was raised at the facility. With only limited contact with her parents.
Being placed at Crestview was a blow to Melissa’s self-confidence until she set foot on its grounds. She quickly grew to love the place for accepting her as she was. That all changed when the fire broke out. As a junior, she barely had any tools with her in her room when it started. She still remembers it spreading so fast. Too fast. She got out in time through sheer luck but couldn’t rush back inside. She didn’t have her suit or any tools to combat the flames. First, she cried, then she joined a bucket chain in a feeble attempt of others to extinguish the flames. The following days changed Melissa. For better or for worse.

When Mel feels particularly overwhelmed she often goes jogging. She jogged so much now that when she does her body just takes over and her mind calms down. She says it works better than any medication she has had until now.
