The Free Citizen’s Federation is divided into several worlds that all have a degree of autonomy. These self-governing worlds are then regulated by the Federal Council that decides upon overarching boundaries to every world’s autonomy; the council is led by a council elected official known as an
“Exectutor”. The executor leads the Federation by presenting issues to the council while being advised by other elected representatives. Representatives from all federal worlds gather at the council to present and discuss local issues as well as vote on issues that affect the Federation as a whole.
Federal life may vary from world to world under local regency, meaning laws differ from planet to planet. Law enforcement procedures, taxation rates, trade, etc. The Federal worlds are diverse in culture and are divided in language and religion. Many old Terran languages live on in different forms ranging from English and moving east towards the Asian languages such as Japanese, as a result, Federal Citizens are colorful and different everywhere unlike the Republic.

The Republic is a democratic autocracy, led by an autocrat that is elected into power – the president of the Unitary Republic of Terra. There is a democratic election held every four years but the four party system only allows for only so many candidates and usually all the candidates are pro-autocracy. The
“strong-arm” leadership led to the breakaway of the first twenty worlds that would come to be known as the Free Citizen’s Federation. The Republic passes laws that affect all worlds which puts strains on poorly developed colonies which eventually lead to insurrection and rebellion. However, the Republic’s
”No Nonsense” policies have lowered crime and piracy rates, increased economic focus, and improved security for all its citizens.
The Republic provides a different life from that of the Federation – unity is the message. To increase national unity, the Republic had to standardize religion, culture, and language; permitted languages are that of English, Russian, and Chinese (and their dialects) – the languages of Earth’s original most powerful nations. The changes may have been strict, however, the desired affect was achieved – a nation united. The Federation during the war made this one of the reasons they rebelled, however, if one were to compare the living conditions of the Republic and the Federation, one would be hard pressed to find a difference – in fact, the Republic beats the Federation in a few regards and vice versa.
