No song is sung quite so loudly as that of victory. So do not be content with failure!

Remember the dude who landed a probe on a comet but got cancelled for wearing a saucy shirt? Yeah, I'd say toxic femininity does just as much damage to the scientific community. But man bad right?
Antagonist Inc. Pairing: Villain × Hero Genre: Superheroes, action, dark comedy
The beginning of the new age was ushered in with a bang. An incident that made all the previous tragedies of human history seem utterly paltry by comparison as not only did it threaten the very existence of the human race but threw open the floodgates of the supernatural that had long kept our world so peacefully mundane.
No one truly knows what set this event in motion. Some say cabals of secretive mystics meddled with powers beyond their kenning. Others say it was god's wrath on a sinful world. Whatever the case may be, the end result was the rise of something powerful, destructive and full of malevolent ambition for our world. A demon who cryptically called himself The Divide.
The world as we know it was forever changed with the arrival of The Divide. Raw and wild magics flowed from the wound the demon tore in the fabric of reality to invade our world. Magics from it's own twisted dimension as well as many others bled in. And this had an immediate and profound effect on the world, saturating it and it's people with strange abilities and properties. But even stranger was the way our world responded.
Some might think our world merely a celestial body of assorted elements. A floating chunk of dirt and water drifting through space. But the earth is a living thing. Some might even argue a sentient one. And like most living things subjected to an influx of foreign and malicious bodies, an immune response to the demon and these other worldly magics would be triggered. One that would inevitably save our world from the invading powers.
Nature fought back where it could. And with millions of years of evolution granted to the fera and fauna of the earth in the span of mere hours as part of the immune response, nature became a force to be reckoned with for the demon's minions. Beasts became sharper, stronger, and more intelligent. Plants became organic sentries, attacking any infernal forces with deadly poisons, razor sharp thorns and deadly strong branches and roots. And an estimated 50% of the human race would find that they too were forever empowered by the earth to protect it. These empowered life forms all became gripped by an irresistible urge to defend the planet from foreign invaders such as The Divide that lingers to this day.
It was among empowered humans such as these that The Divide would finally meet his match. Nine of the most powerful superhumans would gather together to take the demon down. And after a brutal battle that left many of them dead or wounded, these first superheros would prevail. Though unlike the heroes you might read about in old comics, these saviors of the human race may not be as altruistic or selfless as one might imagine.
Fast forward 15 years and superheros have become a world spanning industry. Costumed living weapons spreading truth, justice and warm fuzzies all over the place. For a time this business was booming. But if the comics taught me anything it's that a hero is only as good as the villains they overcome. And PR for the heros has been slipping of late despite all the empowered lunatics and magic wielding psychos they take down. I guess the people just aren't impressed with run of mill supervillains anymore. That's where I come in. My company provides heros with a nemesis that their jaded public will actually be impressed to see them take down. And with all the desecration such a delicate setup might require. What's the cost? For A listers like the hero's guild founders I charge a premium. But for up and comers like you? Well… Let's just say you might already be a client and never even know it.
@astaphaios I'm thinking this site is just dead for the most part. Its definitely the least active forum I'm on. Oh well, bump anyway to avoid the archives.
Subjected to Salvation Pairing: Angel × Evil Overlord Genre: Fantasy Flavor: Action, adventure, odd couple romance, comedy
Evil grips the land of Cindrel in the throes of despair. A powerful darkness seeks to dipose the kings of the continent and plunge all into an age of oppression and terror. Some say they seek to destroy the very world itself. Others say they wish to rule over all with an iron fist. For decades heros without count have tried and failed to vanquish the overlord. All had fallen to their wrath. That was, until an unassuming young priest whose faith reached the heavens called out for a miracle.
An angel would answer the call. Though he was not the sort the priest might have expected. A sarcastic character with a rather blase attitude considering the dire threat facing all of humanity, he was clearly a black sheep among his kind. But nevertheless, he was an angel. An agent of goodness and order sent from on high. And while he would bring the people deliverance, he would deny them their vengeance.
Odd for an angel, he nevertheless had all the holy power of the celestial host. As such, he made quick work of the overlord. Quickly overpowering and neutralizing them within moments of engaging. But he would not strike them down. Instead, the angle bound himself to the would be tyrant. Sealing their soul so it would not escape him in death. And sealing their power so it could no longer be used for evil. The angel now travels the world incognito with his reluctant charge. Urging them to do good and right the wrongs they'd committed, hoping to lead them to absolution. Perhaps it's a hopeless cause. Perhaps the overlord cannot change. But at the very least, being bound to them would at least prevent another bothersome summoning into the affairs of mortal men.
For this plot, I will be playing the role of the angel. And I can't stress enough that he will not be lawful boring. I prefer to play nuanced and flawed characters rather than the perfect and boring icon of virtue angels are often expected to be. I would ask my partner to give the overlord the same treatment. Evil for evil's sake certainly does have its place… in children's cartoons. But let's be honest, even hitler was the hero of his own story. So give this character a good reason to be bad. Bonus points for sympathetic motivations
