The Tower: Bright Dawn

As Rachel walked along the street, she stopped by an electronic store. Electronics explode nicely.

Walking in, Rachel saw that all the people inside were scared and whispering. "What's going on?" Rachel asked the closest human, a teen girl.

The girl jumped, and quickly whispered, "An eyeball just showed up on all the screens and said, 'You're not alone. The Change comes to all things in time...'" the girl pauses nervously before continuing. "'Break your shackles and embrace true freedom.'"

The girl then turned away and continued whispering with her friends. Rachel looked around, and heard more whisperings of this eyeball and what it said.

"Shackles, huh? Perhaps it's saying to stop hiding? No way. I don't want to get captured," Rachel thought. She left the people alone; they were traumatized enough already, and Rachel prefers to catch people by suprise.

Walking back out onto the side walk, Rachel looked around for anything to do.

Katelin is up and fighting the arachnid and trying not to panic.

Katelin rolled over and rubbed her lower back. Something is wrong; she didn't fall asleep on hard ground! Opening her eyes, she looked around, shocked to see about a dozen or more other people around the large room, a few standing, others getting up, and the rest lying down like she had been only seconds ago.

Katelin heard a screech, and looking up, she saw something that she had never seen personally but had heard of from the knights' stories of similar mutated monsters, the knights boasting about defeating them without help. Letting out a short scream, Katelin scrambled to get up, forming an ice spear as she did so. She tried to get her heart to calm, but seeing an arachnid that big was too much. One fully armored lady didn't have such fears, as she glared around and told everyone to get up if they wanted to live. The lady then attacked the monster as Katelin saw a glowing shield-like thing form around her. Katelin threw the javelin, but almost missed, the ice getting stuck in some terrible-looking barbs.

Moving backwards to try calming down, Katelin looked around, and saw that most everyone was up. One girl with strange clothing was in a corner, seeming to struggle with some heavy-looking armor on its back. While forming another spear, Katelin saw the girl's lips move. "Is she talking to metal?" Katelin thought, confused. Looking closer, she saw the girl was missing a leg.

Katelin threw the spear, then got her bow off her back - so lucky it was still there - and looked over at the girl again. A Dwarf with metal arms was moving towards the girl. Hopefully he only ment to help. Katelin looked back at the spider, shuddering at the thought of possibly getting eaten by this thing. It looked angry, and that lady on its head looked so creepy.

Aiming, Katelin shot a couple arrows at the creature's eyes, hoping the mini explosions would cause enough damage to hurt it.

Appearance: Katelin is tall and mostly thin, with good arm muscles from using her bow. Long strawberry blonde hair, dark green eyes, tan skin, and delicate facial features. She wears leather armor and two daggers can be seen at her sides.

Personality: Quiet, she doesn't say much, though she is easily angered at insults. She has always loved using the bow, and is pretty good at making new ones if the old one broke. She is an arachniphobe, and her automatic response to fear is attack immediately. She is smart though, so she can force herself to focus instead of panicking. She loves to read, is a cat person, and wanted to be in professional archery competitions and perhaps defend the kingdom, at least until something happend to her where she had to hide from the world.

Armaments:
Has the type of superpowers most people would look over as 'not as strong as a proper superhero or superhuman'.

MAGIC: She has some control over both fire and ice. These powers are best at close range, though she has figured out that she can set an arrow on fire and shoot it without it going out or weakening, with a slight explosion on contact. She also has two daggers at her sides that she likes to freeze with her ice power to add a painful sting to melee attacks. Her ice powers also allow her to make a javelin out of ice, and throw it. It takes a bit more concentration than freezing daggers or setting an arrow ablaze. She also gained the power to keep her quiver constantly full; it will never run out. This is a passive magic, so it won't take concentration, but it also can't be turned off.

LEATHER ARMOR: It was expensive, but well worth it since at the time she thought she would become the youngest and the first female to win an arena battle with a bow in her kingdom. Soon she'll find that, even though it wouldn't be a good idea to show up in a competition because of her powers,it'sgood for a small amount of protection against monsters.

Biography: One of two female trainees for learning the bow, she was very outnumbered by the 18 males. Proving herself was hard, and only 6 of the boys were good enough for the kingdom's high standards, and Katelin made it through though the other girl didn't. That had just been the first part of the training, though, to reveal the ones more worth taking the time to teach.

The second part of the training was harder, using bows that were harder to pull back than a normal recurve or longbow. Running excercises, strength training, and early mornings were all part of the schedule. Katelin pulled through it all just as strong as the boys.

But then a strange thing occurred. The manifestation of her powers weren't dramatic, it wasn't painful, she didn't feel anything at all, and there was no physical evidence... Until she found out her quiver never emptied. Stuff like that would never be allowed in a competition. The quizzical and sometimes accusational stares of the other archery students and the mentor caused her to quit training. Her kingdom will jail and sometimes execute anyone with powers.

Later, when packing up to try to escape persecution, she discovered she could freeze and burn things. After practise, she now likes to use fire arrows, and has bought two daggers with which she can put her ice magic to use. A little target practise with an ice javelin on her old wall also helped show how well she can adjust to this.

She was on her way out of the city when everything went dark, and she woke up in the Gauntlet.

I agree that the beetles should be driven away, but if that is too difficult we should send a few, small, spaced out groups of warriors to dispatch those beetles. Spacing the groups out and keeping them small will hopefully attract minimal to no attention to us, as we don't want to have a sudden suprise attack from the wasps.

Once the beetles are gone, scouts can be sent to sweep a large amount of the forest around the threatened bees in pairs to find the wasps' nest.
