@Majoras End I gotta ask, what exactly do you mean when you say "can aim at high targets easily"? I mean, I can kind of guess but I'd like some examples so I don't end up misusing the powers.

Name: Ardin Joyce

Age: 21

Phobi-ablility: Acrophobia (jump really high, aiming at higher targets is easier)

Personality: Realistic on the side of pessimism, bordering on nihilistic. Fairly logical and intelligent but unambitious and can be a little short-sighted at times. He speaks his mind and may seem surly and rude but is really more resigned and self-deprecating, and maybe just a little bit over-cautious. In spite of all that, he’s not a particularly bad person. He does what he’s asked and follows the rules, and he doesn’t actively shun people.

Relations: Estranged parents and a not-particularly-close relationship with his 2 brothers.

Backstory: The middle son of a reasonably average middle class family, Ardin was often compared to his older brother. He did his best to meet their expectations but in the end it was never enough. For some reason or another he just couldn’t get there, and it probably had something to do with his fear of heights. He was always a little too cautious when he got to a high place, and reasoned that his fear was preventing him from reaching his full potential. Deciding to try and conquer his fear, he took a gap year during college to travel the world. The mounting pressure of trying to do well was getting to him, making him more pessimistic and sucking out his enthusiasm, and he figured that taking a year off would do some good for him. But it was during this year that the incident occurred.

They said it was an accident, though Ardin couldn’t be sure. The plane he was riding had exploded in middair. They said it had been a fault with the fuel tank, or the engines, or any of the the enumerable variables that could’ve been behind it. Miraculously he’d managed to survive, but he’d never be the same. The incident was the final nail in the coffin that shifted his fear of heights into a full-blown phobia. By the time he’d recovered from the incident he felt like a husk of his former self. Working felt like a chore and he didn’t know what to do. Soon enough he dropped out of college and shut himself into his apartment. Soon enough however, the phobia project began. Ardin thought that if he hadn’t conquered his weakness, then maybe he could turn it into a strength. Thus, he signed up for the project with the tentative hope that things might turn out better for him.

I kind of want something simple, like acrophobia or something. Might be a boring power but it'd be easier to write into a backstory, I guess.

But hot damn there's a lot of weird phobias... Maybe I'll go for fear of pastry or something. Turn people into pies. Although I don't think that phobia exists.

In retrospect, Derrick should probably have seen that coming. One of the few things apparent with the Jailor was that it wasn't human, and probably wasn't even alive at all, so expecting human error from it was probably a mistake. Its aim was true, and the shackle had somehow cut through... whatever it was attaching Derrick to his body.

A momentary bout of pain led to a feeling of weightlessness. That wasn't quite right... He was starting to float upwards. Reflexively he grabbed the end of the severed cord attached to his body, hoping that it occupied the same plane as he did, before he heard a familiar voice. He whirled around and saw Mistletoe come towards him, or rather, his body.
"I'm a little bit preoccupied here!" Derrick yelled back. "Could you help me out please!?"

It looked as if something Derrick did had achieved something or other, although he had suffered some backlash. It appeared that the Jailor was capable enough of hurting him despite his apparent lack of substance, which made the situation more tenuous than he'd like. But still, he'd somehow made it back off, and that was more than he could've hoped for.

The Jailor's swing seemed a little off; maybe Derrick's actions had skewed its aim somehow. He doubted that, but he wouldn't let this opportunity go.

Derrick leaped forward towards the gargoyle, sidestepping the chain as it swung, intending to pass through its body towards its blue flame. Touching it a bit with his hand had done something, so what would tackling it with his body do? Derrick hoped that it would help him somehow.

Uh... I'm Interested, though I have no idea what's going on. But I have the internet and a whole lot of time, so if someone can point me in a direction to start with, I can fix my lack of knowledge pretty quickly.

Fun, but stressful. In China, and the chinese firewall blocks Google. Trying to figure out how to set up a VPN and go around it, but the service I bought (have to buy VPNs, sadness) is pretty slow.

I'll try to get a post up for everything within the next three days or so, sorout the wait! Erk this rp has really slowed down because of me...
