Trunks nodded in assent as Mizuki prepared her stepper box. "Not a problem. I'm going to have a quick look around before I head down. I should be able to catch up with you there." He had to shield his eyes a bit, as she teleported away. The glare of a stepper box being used was still something he hadn't gotten used to. He had a quick look around the hallway. Aside from Agent Leadtrim, there wasn't a sign of anyone.

Trunks was about to investigate the ship, when he heard a ringing from his jacket. Trunks pulled out an old, re-purposed scouter that his mother gave him. To be honest, Trunks's knowledge of energy sensing made it nothing more then an expensive communicator, but Trunks didn't really have anything else to use as one when he left. It served as a nice memento too. Regardless, Trunks fitted the scouter to his ear, and opened communications.

"This is agent Trunks," he responded to the scientist. "I'm heading down to the planet now, but my communications should stay intact. Please fill me in on what's going on." Trunks prepared his stepper box, not too concerned about Leadtrim. He would follow when he wanted. As the stepper box was activated, though, Trunks had a thought. "Wait a minute, did you say gho..." The stepper box cut him off.

Crap baskets.

Trunks found himself on the island slightly away from Mizuki. As he gathered up his stepper box and get a look around, he suddenly felt energy welling up below him. Trunks reacted by leaping into the air, focusing his ki to keep himself suspended in mid-air. Trunks looked down to see several now confused looking figures clawing out of the ground. Trunks fired a few ki blasts down to discourage them, and flew off.

Trunks saw some sort of facility in front of him. It was there most of the energy was coming from, and he sensed Mizuki heading in another direction. Trusting she could handle herself, Trunks flew off towards the odd looking facility, and transmitted to the scientist. "Alright, I'm on the ground. Mind filling me in while I get moving?"
@Scrapula@Andromedai The lord inquisitor is going to have to back up Scrapula here. The most open minded Sororitas who wasn't Miriael Sabathiel believed that melta weapons were just as good as flamers to purge heretics.

By bolter shell, flamer burst and melta blast, the mutant, the heretic and the traitor alike are cleansed of their sin of existence. So has it been for five millennia, so shall it be unto the end of time.

Trunks thought for a moment. "Their signal, for lack of a better word, is still pretty faint. But maybe if I focus a bit more..." Trunks took a moment to concentrate on the energy. He could sense the power, but it was quite far away to be detected. Maybe if Goku was here, he could track it down, but Trunks was no where near that level. The most he could do was.....

Trunks visibly shuddered. The energy on the planet was beginning to flare up. Something was about to happen, and it wasn't going to be good. Along with that, Trunks felt something....different. There was suddenly a well of energy on that planet that felt corrupted in some way. And wherever it was, it was close to the other sources.

Still, the sheer increase in energy was enough for Trunks to get a vague idea of where it came from. "I think I got it," Trunks said. "I have a vague idea of where, but the closer we get, the more exact it will be. I've narrowed it down to some sort of island. I guess it would be good to start there, when we're ready."
Because midterms were a thing, I have no idea what is happening OOC. BUT I HAVE RETURNED!

..........again
Derek had never been one for AR goggles. In his personal opinion, they limited his awareness a bit. Back in his early days, the HUD had a tendency to block key details that could alert him to pursuers. However, when it came to gathering info on the fly of a job, there was nothing superior. Besides, he could always just take them off in a bind. And his lack of information was his biggest challenge here. Looking out at the Rashin research station, a ping appeared in the top left of his visor, indicating active comms.

"Never seen you wheel and deal with our 'friends' so quickly, Derek. You're really serious about this, aren't you?" Myles intoned.

Derek put two fingers between the crease between his neck and chin. His usual communicator had been swapped out with a sub-vocal model. "I did the prep work for this job in three hours, friend. That's probably my new record. Am I serious?" Derek was normally sarcastic, but it shot to new levels when he was on edge. And every bit of intuition he had told him this job would go bad. Still, he felt determined for some reason. Maybe he just wanted to show off. "Anyway, yes. I have my toys. Gecko gloves, RFID eraser, multi-tool, white noise generators, and a light absorption suit; the works. So I hope you found a way to make this work, or we owe people some serious gear."

There was silence for a few seconds. "Well," Myles said nervously, "I found a few things. A few Rashin agents came in early tonight in deviance of standard procedure, so something is going down. I tried to check if they left security holes, but no dice. Other then that, there is one way in. But its suicide, and......... you're going to go in through it, aren't you?"

Derek was grinning ear to ear. "The main chimney, huh? You would think when they re-purposed this place they would, I don't know, close off the chimney stack? Welp, their loss. I'll contact you if things go south." Derek went radio silent, and double checked his gear. He spent a bit of extra time on his gecko gloves. He was good with his glider, but he would need these working at full capacity if we wanted to make it through alive. With everything in order, Derek jumped off the building, and engaged his glider.

Normally, Derek might have been picked up by cameras in a fly by of this place. However, his suit would pay dividends here, and keep him out of sight. After making a quick aerial movement, he flew up the chimney stack of the building and dove in. While the chimney wasn't active any more, timing his landing was imperative to a clean entrance. Spotting an old shaft with his AR goggles, Derek attached to the wall with his gecko gloves and swung inside.

About 10 minutes later, Derek had worked his way through the old vents into a security room. He was overhead the guard working at the console. He smirked. This poor soul had no chance. Opening the hatch with the multi-tool, Derek attached a grapple line to the vent and slowly descended. A quick shot from his tranquilizer dart rendered the guard unconscious, and Derek hit the floor. Carefully removing the dart, he took a look at the desk space, spotting an empty coffee mug. "Should've had a bit more, I think," Derek muttered to himself. "Now your supervisor's gonna be pissed at you for sleeping on the job." Derek went into the camera layout on the console, and started snooping. It didn't take long to find what he needed. Project Gemini. The files had a lot of scientific jargon that seemed a bit much for a simple pair of pistols. Seems like dear old dad left of few details out of this one's story. Something was very wrong here, and Derek was getting a vibe he stepped into something nasty.

Still, he was too far in to quit now. It was time to make a move. Derek quickly tracked down the pistols. They were locked down in isolation chamber Delta 4, which wasn't to far from here. As good of security they had outside, Derek was a mastermind at internal infiltration. With a quick glance to find his way, Derek dove into another set of air-vents, switching between them in short bursts to dodge any security within them, and headed towards his legacy.
It didn't take long before Trunks sensed someone approach. Whoever it was clearly felt powerful, but was hiding it somehow. He turned to see a woman named Koizumi Mizuki introduce herself and ask what was going on. It took Trunks a few seconds to catch on that she seemed to think he was normally stationed here. "Oh, I'm not actually stationed here. I was responding to the distress call as well. My name's Trunks. This is my first real mission with the Institute, so I was waiting a bit to see if anyone else was going to show up as well."

Trunks quickly looked Mizuki over. He hadn't expected an agent that would respond to this type of distress beacon to be wearing a business suit. To be fair, though, there was still a lot he had to learn about the multiverse. At the very least this mission would allow him to judge his own power compared to the other major players of this society.

Trunks didn't notice the second figure approach, although we he saw him it was immediately apparent why. The sleekly designed robot that introduced itself as "Agent Leadtrim" only caught Trunks's attention when it spoke up. The faint smile on Trunks's face quickly faded. As much as he wished his past was behind him, his conflict with the androids had left a mental mark on him. As much as Trunks wanted to give this fellow agent a chance, he couldn't help but feel on edge. "Not sure yet," Trunks responded. "We just got here ourselves, though I do have a guess."

Trunks looked back out of the porthole. "I was trying to sense the energy of the planet before you all arrived. I think I found the problem, although I could be wrong. I can feel several strong beings that are really close to each other. Normally, that would be bad enough, but the fact that I can sense them up here probably means trouble. It's a guess at this point, but I think there are other people from the multiverse interfering down there."
Trunks took a few moments to get his bearings. His old time machine had a self contained pilot capsule, so he hadn't been exposed to the elements of dimensional travel much. Stepper boxes still disoriented him a bit, but he imagined it wouldn't take long to acclimate. When he refocused, he had a look around. The spacious rooms of the Mother Ship had been replaced with the slightly more austere interior of a scout frigate. Electing to look around, but not go to far, Trunks decided to have a look around the ship.

Trunks didn't have to go far to find a window. It looked out over the planet they were orbiting. From his first look, it appeared the planet was an alternate Earth. At least there would be some levels of familiarity to his first mission. On a whim, Trunks closed his eyes and focused his Ki senses. After a first sweep, it seemed to be fairly average. That is, until he felt something odd. Although they weren't yet active, and still hard to trace, several high powered beings seemed to be in relatively close proximity to each other planet-side. Concerning, especially since Trunks couldn't tell just how strong they were.

Whatever was happening, he needed more information before he could act. He knew from experience that events like these needed absolute precision. He hadn't even left to warn the hero's of his universe all those years ago until he was certain he would appear precisely in time to defeat Freeza upon his arrival to Earth. Besides that, he didn't like testing his resolve on this operation alone. He decided it would be best to wait for more agents to arrive.
Trunks breathed a sigh of anticipation. This was going to be his first job for the Dunkelzahn institute. If ever there was a time to prove himself to his superiors, now was the time. He closed his equipment into large cases, except for his sword. His sword he left sheathed on his back. With a click of a button, each of the cases condensed into tiny capsules, which he stored in his Capsule Corp jacket. While the technology used by the institute exceeded his own by leaps and bounds, Capsule Corp tech still had its uses.

Trunks readied his stepper box, and looked over the distress signal. It was notably ambiguous, and that put Trunks on edge. The last time he had to address a mysterious threat, it had turned out to be an entity designed to be the perfect warrior, destroy all life on earth, and was stronger then his worst enemies. Still, Trunks was stronger then ever before, and could easily rival Cell's power on his own.

Trunks took another deep breath. Stalling while reminiscing about his past would do no one any good. He double checked the capsules in his jacket, and prepared himself. It was time to show the multiverse his strength; the strength of his home, and the strength of the Saiyan race. He engaged his stepper box, and warped to the ship emitting the distress signal.
Name: Trunks
Universe: Dragon Ball Z: Future timeline
Canon or OC: Canon

Appearance:

Age: 25
Personality: Trunks, having been raised in an incredibly dangerous and unforgiving world, is often cautious and serious. He is incredibly resourceful, and is not above taking any advantage he can get to best his opponents. He is very respectful, and tries to make a good impression on everyone he meets. However, he does have a slight tendency to be cocky and arrogant in a fight, especially when it is clear that he has the advantage.

Abilities:
Martial Arts - Trunks has been trained in various martial arts by his old master, Gohan.
Swordsmanship - Trunks was given a sword as a child by a man named Taipon. When Gohan learned of this, he also began to train Trunks in how to use it.
Flight - Trunks has learned to hone his ki, or life essence, to both levitate off the ground and propel himself in flight through the air at high speeds.
Ki Blasts - Trunks has also learned how to weaponize his own ki. He can use it from techniques as simple as firing blasts of energy, to complicated maneuvers where he channels it through his sword, and a wide assortment of attacks in between.
Ki Sense - In his training, Trunks has learned how to sense the ki of others. If it's alive and has a level of power, Trunks can sense it coming.
Super Saiyan - Trunks has learned to channel the inner strength and rage of his father's race, the Saiyans, and become a Super Saiyan. The power up massively increases his power and speed, at the cost of using far more of his energy. The form also fills him with an unnatural rage, causing him to become more rash, and prone to violence. Trunks is also able to take this power to the level of Super Saiyian 2, but the increased strength limits his speed to some degree.

Equipment:
Saiyan Battle Armor - While Trunks only wears it when combat is unavoidable, it provides a significant layer of extra physical protection
Taipon Sword - Trunks's sword is able to channel his ki, allowing him to use it in combination with his ki attacks.

Faction: The Dunkelzahn Institute
Background: Trunks was born to a human woman named Bulma, and a Saiyan prince named Vegeta. However, Trunks didn't get to meet his father while a child, as he was killed, along with most of the heroes of his world by two androids. After fleeing with his mother and his master, Gohan, he began to train to protect his family. It didn't work, as Gohan was violently killed by the androids while Trunks was only 14.

Trunks came to the conclusion that the most he could do would be to go back in time to warn the heroes of the past. Using a time machine built by his mother, he went to the past to help fight the androids. While all of the heroes and Trunks were able to massively power up, a being known as Cell arrived to slaughter them all.

Trunks attempted to fight, but was handily beaten by Cell when he powered up so much that he moved too slow to land a single hit. Fortunately, the past version of his master, Gohan, who was only a child at the time, managed to defeat Cell. After the victory, Trunks returned to his own timeline significantly stronger then when he left, and handily destroyed the future androids. He even redeemed himself, and destroyed a significantly weaker version of Cell in his own timeline afterwards.

It is at this point Trunks came into contact with an agent of the Dunkelzahn institute. It turns out that he had helped to slip his mother enough information to build his time machine. Impressed by both Trunks's skill, and initial delicate approach to time travel, he offered Trunks a job to help more people. With peace restored to his home and little else to do, Trunks accepted.

A bit of an obvious choice, but whatever.
