So, you can play a character from any established world? LotR, Dragon Age, Star Wars and Marvel Comics characters could all potentially interact in this rp???

Okay, here's my submission to the mission. I thought to myself 'let's take an unrepentant villain who's so evil that it works against his best interests, and have him learn from the Evil Overlord List.' This was the result.

@HHShetland, you're in!

I'm a little concerned that the only characters we've got thus far have been either working with The Institute or on their own, but I suppose it's to be expected.

Nice!

Anyway, I think most people are signing up to one particular faction because it makes it easier to interact, including with the factionless.

Name: Ranald Colbert

Universe: Armoured Trooper VOTOMS

Canon or OC: OC

Appearance: Face. Physically, Ranald is a lean and athletic man, with a build that is well-suited to his line of work.

Age: 33

Personality: Mr. Colbert is a soldier, and thus does his best to remain calm and level-headed on the battlefield. Panicking would only get him killed very quickly, especially when piloting an AT. However, in situations where his life isn't at stake, Ranald is far from unsociable. In fact, he can be rather chatty.

In addition, after suffering a head injury, his memory is a bit spotty, particularly in regards to his military service. He recalls enlisting in the army and later joining the Red Shoulders, but none of the specifics of his tour of duty. He knows a man by the name of Colonel Pailsen was his commanding officer, but not what sort of man he was.

Abilities: Ranald is fairly proficient in regards to piloting an Armoured Trooper (a.k.a. Vertical One-man Tank for Offense & ManeuverS, or VOTOMS), as is expected of a former member of the Red Shoulders. However, he is far from the best, and wouldn't stand a ghost of a chance against a Perfect Soldier, for example.

In addition, as a result of his incredibly lethal line of work, he's picked up a basic understanding of first aid. While he's no surgeon, Ranald can treat minor injuries, and if they're beyond his ability, at least stabilize them for a time.

Equipment:

Faction: Presently Factionless, most likely to join up with Shocker+ or the Sentient Milieu.

Background:

Since there are so many factionless, maybe they could join the other two later on. How do they learn about these things, anyways? Where's the registration form? Are there door-to-door salesmen for them? Do they have yard signs?

The big three factions usually recruit through the properties they own. Each of them distribute plenty of propaganda explaining why their philosophy is logically the best, and why anything else would result in undue suffering and universal destruction and all that jazz.

@Andromedai, Why did you reserve a spot in the Characters section before posting your CS?

I feel your character may not gel well with the others. The Sisters of Battle are known almost exclusively for their unflinching hatred of non-Imperial entities, and you're going to be meeting nothing but non-Imperial entities. Thus, you'll either have to go wildly out of character or spend all your time IC attacking and subjugating the other players.

Perhaps another character from 40k canon would work better?

Made the mistake of not paying attention and posting my CS there instead of the interest thread.

This I know, but for the sake of the RP and the current situation she is currently in, that will change in time as she learns of all around her. (Character progression yay.)

I'm gonna have to call bull on that one.

I'm not a SoB player (they don't have nearly enough codex circulation to attract me), but from what I understand the Sisters of Battle are the most fanatical arm of the Imperium, unflinching in their dedication and entirely unwilling to trust in the opinions of their enemies. They've had Ecclesiarchal dogma drilled into them for decades, they've had all sense of wrongthink flayed and burned out of their skulls, they're literally so devoted that their stalwart belief can cause miracles.

The fact that a Sister of Battle would change her mind about what to think about heretics, xenos, and traitors being heretical and traitorous speaks volumes about how out-of-character she is being. It's simply ludicrous. As said by one of the most infamous 'Thoughts of the Day' in the fluff, "an open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded".

If you want to play as something from Warhammer 40,000, I must say that you pick a character who isn't known exclusively for scourging and purging those who don't seem like they dogmatically follow their viewpoint. Go for an unorthodox Inquisitor, an Imperial Guardsman, a Space Marine, you could even go for a Chaos cultist-- just make it logical for them to change their mind without needing a lobotomy. A Sister of Battle has no place in a setting outside the Imperium other than as a source of unending belligerence.

LordInquisitor PURGER OF HERETICS!!

Member Seen 9 yrs ago

@Scrapula@Andromedai The lord inquisitor is going to have to back up Scrapula here. The most open minded Sororitas who wasn't Miriael Sabathiel believed that melta weapons were just as good as flamers to purge heretics.

By bolter shell, flamer burst and melta blast, the mutant, the heretic and the traitor alike are cleansed of their sin of existence. So has it been for five millennia, so shall it be unto the end of time.

Name: Chosen Undead
Universe: Dark Souls
Canon or OC: Canon, with minor personal interpretations.

Appearance:

Age:???
Personality: The Chosen Undead is a rather quiet fellow, often communicating through gestures and actions rather than lengthy dialogue or boring moral choices. Though he powers through with an end goal, he's not averse to exploration, seeing all the sights the world has to offer, talking to whatever sane (A relative term) individuals he comes across, and stocking up on items from the local merchants.
Some may vouch for his bravery, others insist it's simply a tenacity combined with a well honed tolerance for pain.
Constant trial and error throughout an incredibly hostile land has led to him becoming rather genre savvy, if a little world-weary.

Unfortunately, he also has to deal with the constant looming threat of Hollowing, the gradual withering of an Undead's sanity as the lose hope and forget who they once were.

Abilities: List your character's natural skills, learned spells, and other powers.
The CU is capable of wielding most manner of medieval weaponry with some manner of proficiency. Though he lacks a superhuman level of combat ability, he has adaptive tactics and a sort of tenacity only the undead possess.
The Chosen Undead has been branded with a Dark Sign, a black mark denoting him to be among the ranks of the undead. It does not provide regeneration, enhanced physical, mental, or spiritual abilities, nor any sort of immediately useful combat abilities. However, it does mean that, some time after death, the afflicted Undead will respawn at a specific location: a Bonfire. These curious fires were previously only found in Lordran and similar areas, but have since sprung up in other worlds, perhaps following the undead curse itself.
Equipment: The Undead wears a suit of plate and mail to provide some meager protection against the things he fights. He carries a hefty set of gear: in his left hand, a blue, crested shield, and his weapons consist of a stout longsword, a hefty claymore, and a winged spear.

Faction: Sentient Milieu
Background: The Undead spent much of his past wandering the chilly, dying world of Lordran. This enchanted land already consisted of interconnected worlds, and powerful sorcery enabled the Undead to temporarily cross these boundaries to aid and/or murder one another. However, the invention of the Stepper Box inherently fluxuated the already weak walls between the layered world of Lordran. This is what led the Undead into his first excessively painful foray into another world. Further exploration soon led him to join the Sentient Milieu. He believes that, with their aid, a cure for the undead plague might find its way to Lordran, or at the very least his atypical form of durability will earn relief efforts for the dying world. After all, an Undead like himself is perfect for suicide missions.

@IncredibleBee, I greatly appreciate that you're willing to join the Sentient Milieu, but I have one question. How will you treat Bonfires? Will they be something you have to specifically make and place, or are they spontaneously generated as is narratively appropriate?

I was going to say the latter. I plan on placing them where when CU respawns, he doesn't have to go on an interstellar flight to get back to the action, but far enough where it can't be abused and he just spawns right were he died. Generally, probably just one where he enters an area, or the occasional safe zone.
