Rasie herself took a massive drink from her flask, though she seemed unperturbed by her own drink. At the very least, it was obvious it was not making her any less sober. She laughed very lightly as Zeynep talked about the controls being a path to rebellion. "Has it not already come? Malicious mages are far more common now. The stigma to magic and death sentence to blood mages has driven most into desperation. I am not surprised the Chantry is suffering the poisons they so carefully concocted. I would love to see the day that mages can once again live normally, but the Chantry stands in the way of that at every turn." She leaned back in her chair as she scooted it back a bit to give room to rest her feet on top of the table. She folded her hands across her belly and crossed her ankles. "So, you are a force mage, hmmm? I remember a couple in my village. They were quite powerful artillery, but they tended to be a bit weak on the control side. For that, we had others. I functioned as a frontline fighter for our mages, complimenting the warriors with entropic magic to curse and drain key targets."
What about armored exoskeletons?

3. As for character death… It’s permanent. No do-overs, no God Modding, etc. If you get yourself into a tough situation, and you can’t come up with a reasonable line of thought to get out of it, then that’s it. You may make another character though, for just such an event, and keep playing.

Not to be a stickler, but I would like to be contacted should you believe my character is getting too deep. I'd rather be able to talk about it and figure out a course of action prior to something simply happening and blindsiding either of us.

Also, what is the status of AIs? In addition, are some people replacing neural parts with cybernetics?
She let out a small chuckle and shrugged. "Perhaps it was technically a better time for mages, but it was far worse for Blights. We had no Grey Wardens and we had no idea the darkspawn would attack us. We all were caught unprepared. Only by a fluke was I preserved and able to pass on what I know to this day. I do note, though, that the Templars and Chantry are obsessed with stigmatizing fringe magic like blood magic. So, magic now is far more restricted. I am none too fond of that. I do not practice blood magic myself, but I have seen what they can do if given a good outlet and given the proper treatment. It also seems my shapeshifting magic would bother Templars as well due to it being an apostate style of magic. Then again, I am simply a target as I am an apostate myself, a really well trained apostate that is actually formally trained from another era."

Naw man. Give me a poisoned knife over a Lute any day.

Or be a bard and you get to use any rogue weapon proficiently and just sing as your stab, shoot, slash, etc.

Dragon Age Bards are badasses man. They are Orlesion assassins
After Gavlan seemed to withdraw from the conversation a bit, Rasie turned her focus to Zeynap. "To answer your question would take an inordinate amount of time. The Kossith were not a singular culture. Each group had its own system. For example, my village actually encouraged the magic users to hone their craft and it even provided assistance in trying to resist the influence of demons. As such, unlike other societies, we had virtually no abominations. My village even accepted blood mages to help them hone their craft. This made blood mages far less desperate and they actually worked as great village guards. Mages today seem to be the antagonists in the story." She paused for a moment to let her final statement sink in to help her make her point about her original life compared to this one. "Pressing on, if you have ever seen the elven art of melding magic, weapons, and armor, then you know what one of my skills is. I can use the same type of ability, though it is not the same style nor is it based in elven belief. My village militia, with the help of mages, created their own style. I showed promise in it and developed my skills for it. This means that by improving my magical abilities, I am also improving my martial prowess."

Leaning back in her chair, Rasie reverted to talking about her village. "Despite its high acceptance of magic, there were of course problems. We had to often deal with other villages going on witch hunts to try and stamp out what they called a danger to everyone. The humans of my time seemed especially bothered by the mages. We also had to try and balance laws and regulations for both magical and non-magical groups. That did little more than slow our lawmaking process, however. We also had a few groups crop up that were zealots. They either wanted magic gone or wanted only magic to remain. I was tasked with killing the groups if they would not cooperate. It was more an example than me being the most skilled. I was a perfect meld of magic and martial might. They wished me to show the zealots the error of their thinking. Most low level followers gave up willingly. The leaders...well I had to bury them the following day."
Gavlan's informed answer made Rasie lean forward much further and look at him intently. "Not all were killed in the First Blight. If they were, I wouldn't be sitting here in front of you. Though, unless others have been in hiding, I am likely the only one. I had an odd way of surviving. In fact, Gavlan, you are talking to a woman that came from when the First Blight attacked the Kossith colony in the Korcari Wilds. The village was not lucky. I was. Some magical anomaly tore me from reality, keeping me physically preserved between the Fade and the physical world." Her face gradually went from amused and excited to one of a pain with a forced facade of focus. "It was a life of mental pain. Fade energies, as they flowed to our world, would buffet me. It tore at my magic, my thoughts, my memories, and my sanity. Eventually, I was able to break free. I reappeared in this world six months ago. My face hitting that dirt was the most glorious feeling I have ever had in my life. Flemeth found me and tended to me until I recovered my capabilities. She then realized my magical talent and trained me to alter my shape as she does. Then, she sent me to wander and find a group of heroes who would change the course of the world. I have lost a lot from my centuries in stasis. I am only now regaining contacts and still have no friends. As I acclimate to this strange society, I may find some to call friend, but I must first find the people that will stand up and crush the Blight."

Her expression faded back into her normal smile as she changed to a brighter tone. "But, my whole story is for another time. If you are curious as to my age, Gavlan, I traced records to about when I was born. I was born around -410 Ancient and was thrown into stasis at about -390 Ancient. Physically, I am 21. Realistically, I am centuries old and only have knowledge of my life and of now, none of in between. I do know, however, that I was lucky. The women from my village were captured and most turned into broodmothers, which spawned the first ogres."
Rasie stayed still, her eyes shifting only when another person began to speak. Once both had said their piece, she gave Zeynep a nod of understanding. "I understand all too well the feeling of being a prisoner and having no control of one's fate. It is hard to break the chains of old." Looking at the dwarf and then no one in particular, Rasie seemed to go deep into thought for a moment. Her face lit up a little, signalling that she had decided to enact her thought and she stretched out. "However, you are not too accuracte to call me a Qunari, Gavlan. I am related to the Qunari only so far as they came after my race. I am one of a race called Kossith. Do you know of them?" She had a good guess that they didn't, but for clarity's sake, she asked it so she knew what she needed to explain to them.

Meanwhile, she had seen a waitress and waved her over, giving her order for some food for them all and told her to take Gavlan's and Zeynep's drink orders. She herself ordered no drink and instead produced a large flask from her pack for herself. The waitress did not seem to mind, so one could assume that Rasie had been here before and dealt with that situation.
Rasie took a seat opposite the two and listened intently as they bantered and introduced themselves. "You may call me Rasie. If you desire, you may also add my title, Witch of the Wilds. I prefer not to say it all too often as it has many negative connotations, but I valued my time under Flemeth's tutelage, leading me to take pride in the name." She shifted uncomfortably before pulling out her crossbow and laying it on the table immediately in front of her. "Pardon me drawing my weapon. The chairs here are none too friendly to crossbows or their wielders."

Once she settled, Rasie laid her hands over the weapon, fingers laced together. "So, why have you been exiled from the Qun? And was it hard adjusting to society outside their dogmatic regime?" To Gavlan, she fielded questions as well. "Surface-dwelling dwarf, no? What led you to meet up with a Qunari and travel with her? I am sure it must be a good story."
