In his never ending war to destroy Gotham, Ra's al Ghul Allied himself with the president of the "pharmaceutical" company Umbrella, Lord Oswell E. Spencer. Ra's had known that Umbrella was secretly developing Biological weapons, and offered his resources and a portion of his Lazarus technology in a bid to win over the corporation's trust. In return, he demanded that the corporation assist him in destroying Gotham City. Spencer agreed to the terms, intending to use Gotham as a testing grounds for new and powerful Biological weapons made with Ra's Lazarus technology, as well as combinations of their currently existing biological weapons. When the outbreak began, several things happened in quick succession- the infamous vigilante Bat Family began an investigation into the sudden and horrific outbreak, and the equally infamous Umbrella corporation began a government-sanctioned militarized quarantine of the city, cutting off all access from all points of entry and exit. Gotham's super-villains used the chaotic opportunity to seize control over certain points of the city. Arkham Asylum was purposefully infected with what Umbrella dubbed the Lazarus Virus, and the mutated, zombified inmates were released on the city, adding more fuel to the fires.
The Bat family, unable to synthesize a cure, even with the aid of Lucius Fox, have taken to supporting the survivors of the nightmare, and assisting the GCPD in their efforts to contain the heinous ranks of the undead and mutant hordes. Now, the many other anti-heroes, heroes, and Villains who were in Gotham when the quarantine went up, must find a way to survive the shambling hordes of undead, and the powerful mutated monsters that roam the streets of Gotham City.
Important NPC's
Operating in the shadows, Ra's has been watching the developments in Gotham intently, using the League of Assassins to keep a close eye on events. He has not yet revealed that he is working with Umbrella, though the Bat family suspects his involvement.
The Clown Prince of Crime intentionally infected himself with the L-Virus early into the quarantine, but (perhaps due to his extreme level of psychosis) was able to keep a clear head during the mutation of his living flesh. He has been seen displaying an uncanny ability to control lesser mutants and undead, whether through some sort of pharamone, or mentally, is unknown. What is known is that The Joker is now far more deadly than ever before.
Batman has been working tirelessly to stop the flow of violence, and the spread of the L-virus, while also investigating the potential ties to the Umbrella corporation and Ra's al Ghul, in an attempt to find incriminating evidence.
Albert Wesker, an agent of the Umbrella corporation, is working undercover at the GCPD, as the leader of the S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Service) unit. His cover remains intact currently, and he is feeding information to Oswell Spencer and Ra's al Ghul, though he is suspected of pursuing his own agenda.
Alright, so, basically, we will be playing various characters in the Batman mythos that aren't listed above. Obviously, there are exceptions. Other than that, we'll be playing our favourite Batman heroes and villains in a Resident evil Zombie survival-horror/intrigue roleplay. You could be The Penguin, trying to set up a purchase of the L-virus for your own personal uses. You could be Mister Freeze, investigating the potential of the L-virus to cure Nora, you could be Catwoman, using the chaos of the outbreak to loot your most desired treasures. Maybe you're a STARS member, working to fight back the outbreak. Pick your poison, but remember, regardless of your character's personal agenda, they will all have to survive the horrors of Umbrella and Ra's al Ghul.
