The only time I've shown interest in a Nation RP was something based off Candyland of all things, but it was dead in the water before all of us were able to submit CSes. A shame too,

For a moment, the boy could only watch his allies fight from where he hid. Combining the speedster note with a slick one, Klava attempted to ambush the opposing group. Which that...didn't really do anything. The staff wielder rushed for cover too and summoned some mini tornado before the Maiden could attack her, the demon guy seemed to have dissapeared, the dark knight blocked the first slash at her legs, and well, you'd have to do more than trip someone to take them out. Apollo provided a "flashbang" for Klava then went to cover Tetrad, who was distracting the horned soldier and sniper. Surprisingly, no one went to attack him.

Okay, that's a good thing, all things concidered. But it slightly confused him. Maybe he wasn't actually a threat to the agents?

The Timekeeper's attention was turned to Apollo's rantings. Seems even he knows this fight is stupid, though he hoped the faceless guy wasn't dragging him into that. He didn't ask for this either! The mention of Justin's remaning goons made the boy anxious. That is the last thing they needed. He listened to the counterargument the shield-holder had against Apollo's rant.

Hm.

So that's how it is? How fickle. What G.E.M.I.N.I. and Maverick Alternative had going wasn't the freelancers' concern, but to alienate who you'll probably fight with next time is just...sad. Can't simply wait this out huh?

He'd get his answer soon enough. A "Speak of the Devil" moment, Gunther had appeared from the statue soon as reinforcements for Maverick appeared. Oh good, protector's okay! That relief was short lived when the ghost sent out way too many spirits for the boy's liking and used the room itself as a weapon. And of course the suits of armor came to life. Fable snapped his head towards the knights the moment they began to move. "Oh hell..." He uttered, stepping back and away from the new adversaries. Three of them. Hm...

Perhaps he can take them all down at once. The boy blocked and dodged anything he could, waiting for the right moment to ensnare the phantoms in an AoE melody. "So now what?! Are you going to continue trying to murder eachother, or shut the hell up, band together, and kill that Stay Puff reject?!?" He yelled to...basically everyone that wasn't Gunther.

Albedo @Lugubrious, Linkle @Gentlemanvaultboy, Papyrus @Dark Cloud

Frisk chuckled at Linkle's reaction. "Yeah, I can poke it and stuff easy peasy. It usually pops out on it's own when I'm entering a fight, so it's kind of a double edged sword." They explained. "I just drag it out myself to check how I'm holding up." Speaking of, they cupped the heart shapped object around their hand and gently shoved it back into their chest. Then Albedo revealed that he didn't know much about his power. Mainly, it was the amber-colored charm that he held up for them to see.

Curious. The child guessed that it was some sort of artifact. They didn't know much about how the wizards in back in their own world worked, but some could've used artifacts as a foci for their magic, right? They could probably prod Albedo for whatever info he had on it another time. Dromarch came back in the room with their drinks. Frisk grabbed theirs, taking careful sips to avoid burning their tongue. Then the lion went to grab his master.

Once Mia appeared, their brows rose. Though they didn't question it. Opposites tend to attract after all. Their brows remained risen at the healing dance that patched Treat up. The wolfgirl still seemed tense about there being a different animal-eared person around her. As she was reassured, Frisk simply finished the rest of their drink. They weren't always good with words.

Until something crossed their ears that confused them. "Uh...an internet???" They tilted their head as the others kept refering to the internet like it's a species of animal. Did...they not know what it was? Wait, didn't Linkle say time was a bit screwy in whatever-this-place-was-called?

Oh geez, either they're from a point in the past, or their worlds didn't have internet! Maybe Frisk should go with them to make sure they don't mess anything up. They were about to speak up again when Papyrus wanted to grab some stuff from his place. "Wait, isn't it nighttime?" They mumbled, putting their snowcap back on and getting up from their seat. The child looked back at Linkle and Albedo with a nervous smile. "We uh, won't be gone long!" Hopefully they won't. "What you're looking for is a computer, not 'an internet'. The internet's just something computers need. A computer has a screen with a board of different letters, numbers, and symbols on it attached." They explained, hurrying to catch up with Papyrus. "I can help with it once we find one, but for now I gotta follow him!" With that, the child stepped out the door.
@Gentlemanvaultboy

Planned on it, I can just have Frisk assure them the trip to Paps' house will be quick or something.

I know I'm behind this week just felt long.
Yeah, full on outage.

"Congrats, you made me actually do something."

"WHAT THE FUCK."

Back at Maura's interdimensional lair, Valerie and Lauren were busy setting up a super computer made by the android girl herself. Though she still had access to the traffic cams she hacked into weeks ago, and was able to keep an eye on the attacks going down. It seemed Justine heeded her directions to Caroline, but didn't say if she needed the extra help. So, Valerie assumed things would turn up better.

Oh how damn wrong she was.

The emerald haired Witch of Order flinched at the otherwise chill girl's outburst, and turned to look at her. "Must I dare ask??" Lauren asked.

With a twiching eye, Valerie prepared to head out. "A braindead asshat somehow one-shotted Justine's sister." She bluntly explained. Lauren rose a brow.

"Don't we only need one of them? What's the problem?"

The android grabbed her weapon. "First off, it looked like Caroline was pacified enough to leave until that pink-haired bitch decided to play with fire. Probably to flex their strength or some crap. Second, Maura planned on getting her purified and stuff for Justine's sake so she won't...I don't know, have that sort of incentive to recorrupt?? Fucking- Just hold the fort till I get back!" She had to contact Maura through magicoms to be deposting near Justine via Cradle.

Once she arrived at the bank, she sprinted towards Justine, and stopping with a skid, she knelt down beside her and the murdered(?) Caroline. She took a glance around at who was there with them. Two of Amanda's friends, Ronin and her sister, the angel lady Finn was uncomfortable with, and the pink haired one-trick horse. With a cold glare to Sakura, Valerie drew her blade and held it defensively. "You better not think about taking down a vulnerable girl now, asshole." She growled, before checking Caroline's pulse. Thinking of what she could do to fix this, she glanced towards Ronin and Miko...and Sann concidering she was holding them back like a mother duck.

"Can one of you stablize her real quick? Any ideas on reviving her??"

"Remind me to dunk Angela into a trashcan later into the story, K?"
"Nvm she has a header now, all good!"
- Finn and Oliver

Meanwhile back at the industrial district, the battling magicals were apparently starting to loose their momentum. With Justine fleeing to find her sister, Finn heading out to behead whatever's behind the monster attacks, and-

Oh?

Seemed the only real fire-based magical in the battlefield had ditched fighting to talk with Oliver. And still scratched up at that! While his clones remained vigilant in combat, the real one took a moment to talk. "Hi. Chemical fire. Maybe later. Maybe later." He answered in rapid fire as Mayra asked him several questions. Then when she mentioned Finn's beast magic at work, she realized the other boy had ran off, and quickly went after him.

Okay then.

Maybe he should let him know about the dragon girl approaching him.

...Nah.

Atleast they didn't have to worry about any more wendigoes, seeing the royal power couple make quick work of them like gang busters.

Meanwhile, once Mayra caught up with Finn, the boy's eye widended in surprise. Holy shit. It's a fuckin' dragon! And apparently she was curious about his magic? "Let's deal with the root of this attack first, 'kay??" Was the only answer he could give Mayra at the moment. As they began to hear someone talking, the boy quickly stopped silent, motioning the dragon girl to stay quiet. He led the way, following the voice into the production hall. Seeing who the voice belonged too, Finn tensed up, carefully reaching for his weapon. Apparently whoever this masked man was working for, sounded like they were planning on invading Penrose.

Unfortunately the guy noticed them before he got more information. Great.

Finn quickly drew Briar Rose out of it's sheath as the red rabbit placed what was probably a calling card on the window, then turned to face them. Before he could say or do much, the masked man had summoned a whoping ten wendigoes to ambush the two.

This idiot had beast magic? Minions?? Either way,

"I FUCKING KNEW IT!!" Enraged, Finn atempted to attack the red rabbit, only to be forced on the defensive once a wendigo tried to attack him. He could only watch the culprit flee. Bastard. Once the boy drove his sword into the monster's skull and blasted it with another fire attack, he slid back to stand back to back with Mayra.

"So, there's ten of them and two of us. I'd say, split the work load? Five and five??" Atleast until Oliver caught up with him. Any more attacks, Finn would bounce between blocking and attacking with his sword, and roasting whatever got stunned. Hopefully the buffs from the Angel of Hope and Dina would last long enough for this to be quick.

"A little???"
Current Location: Von Carnage Mansion, Inner Circle

In all honesty, the boy expected to get yelled at for his foolish actions, mentally preparing himself for that outcome. Surprisingly to him, that wasn't the case.

While Fable was left unable to move, he could still hear the sound of footsteps approaching. And well, some cursing, but that's probably normal concidering what they'd run into. Klava was the first to stop by the poor kid, looking over what wounds he suffered before helping him up. Holding back a pained whimper, he was forced to put most of his weight on his good leg whilst holding his wounded shoulder. When asked if he was continuing, the boy was about to answer until Apollo grabbed his head. Fable visibly tensed in confusion. "Th-The hell?!" He would've assumed the faceless healer was going to smash his head against the wall or some crap, if he didn't realize his upper wounds were healing.

Well, the aggressive "headpat" wasn't really called for, but atleast Apollo wasn't willing to leave him for dead. Yet.

Once Finn's arm was healed, he lightly shook it to make sure it regained feeling, then wiped away whatever stray tears were left. He looked back to Apollo. "Thanks. Really." The boy nodded, furrowing his brows once he saw someone was missing. Where did Protector go? Even if he decided to bow out, that'd just leave three strained espers against god-knows-what. He didn't exactly have a choice, did he? Klava told him to leave dealing with Betty to them. The least he could do is share what he learned.

"Spores. Black spores. Nature element, I-I think." The Timekeeper started to explain as Tetrad helped him walk. His leg was still broken. "She used one of those powerful notes. A defensive one. I tried to fight, I really did! But I couldn't lay a dent on her, melody or not!" Finn frowned, looking aside in shame. "...I'm sorry."

Eventually the group entered another room, one filled with decor both expected like suits of armor, and tacky. The boy rose a brow at the bull statue in the center. Man, Justin must be one vain asshole. But the layout of the pavement was what caught his eye. The checkered paterns reminded him of a chessboard, and the colors of checkers. Both board games revolved around taking down a king and opposition.

How well his thoughts would befit the next chain of events.

The larger lineup of espers didn't go unnoticed. Even as Fable tightened his grip on his weapon, his eyes widened once he recognized who was leading them. "Doc...?" The last thing he wanted was to fight G.E.M.I.N.I. Though both thoughts probably didn't matter. Both Binky and Billy stepped away to talk, leaving the opposing teams to eye at each other like a western standoff. He hid behind Klava.

Why did they have to fight?

Did they have to fight? They had a common enemy, and yet both leaders were...okay, apparently they are working together while the rest fight each other for them?? Tetrad took the opportunity to heal the Timekeeper's leg, but he was starting to feel a bit anxious. "H-Hey, do we really have do fight the-" Unfortunately, he was interrupted by one of the agents opening fire at them. With a yelp, the boy hurried to take cover behind the farther armoire. After the last free for all in the cellar, he wasn't exactly up for going on the offensive for this one. But he had plenty of mana to act as support.

"If you got any bright ideas best use 'em now!!"

From behind his hiding spot, he aimed a lightning bolt and fired a passive melody at Klava to bolster her speed. He couldn't really do much other than wait and steel himself other than that. The boy wasn't built for fighting from afar besides using melodies.

One of the agents getting the idea of approaching him though? Highly likely.
Hmm...

Do I, or do I not do the Path of Pain??

"MISTAKES WERE MADE."
Current Location: Von Carnage Mansion, ???

Corridors.

If Finn had to describe Justin's mansion in a single word, that would be a good one to use. Beyond the dining area was just one corridor after another. They were wider than your average hallway, but that didn’t change the fact that there were a lot of them. Even when Finn glanced down some of the other passageways, it was just more corridors.

Bob’s detonation shook the mansion at its foundation. Betty and the two pyromancers looked over their shoulders, maybe half expecting to see a ball of fire. But the white haired girl growled when she saw who was there.. ”Seriously?“ She turned to face Finn. Her hands coiled around her weapon in a white-knuckle grip. ”You couldn’t beat me alone, you sure you want to try this again?”

The boy remained calm. Even as he treked through the maze of halls, even as his shoulder bled, and even as Bob's subsequent detonation nearly caused him to trip on himself. He had to remain calm. He was alone.

As the trio noticed that he followed after them, the Timekeeper took his hand off the wound for a moment. It hurt like a bastard, but it wasn't bad enough to paralyze his arm. By some luck it was they only severe injury he suffered so far. "I managed to survive this long, didn't I?" Even if it seemed like he wasn't listening, he responded to Betty's ire. Finn looked between her and the remaining pyromancers. "Three versus one then? ...I can work with this." Despite his words, he didn't attack first.

The pyromancers took a step back. The brown haired one clutched his stump.

”Where’s Gunther?”

”I don’t need that puddle of playdough to spank this brat. I’m perfectly capable of doing that myself.” Black particles swirled around Betty’s form, wreathing her in spores. She was channeling a melody of some sort, and judging by the wind up time, it was going to be a powerful one. ”You can burn up his corpse when I’m done with him!” Betty roared like a lion before lunging for Finn. The tile floor sparked and chipped under her sword as she dragged it alongside herself. As she closed in, she swung her sword forwards, cutting into the adjacent wall as the blade threatened to connect with Finn’s legs, if not divide him at the hip.

It was tempting to call the pyromancers a pair of cowards, but that was probably due to his mood being soured. Atleast it'd save him the trouble. Finn remained eerily calm watching the girl charge in for another strike, moving into a combative stance. He furrowed his brows, then sighed with a scowl.

"Damnit Bets, you better not hold this against me!"

Suck it up and quit holding back.

He dodge-rolled out of the blade's range, then fired a beam of electricty at Betty.

[Silver Beam][Damage] = - 36 MP
(462 MP remaining)

Wooden splinters filled the air as Betty’s sword cleaved through the wall. Her cry of hatred pierced Finn’s ears. Her sword glided over Finn’s head. She would be ready to swing again before long, but Finn’s melody was almost ready. Betty’s melody was ready too, and they both activated at the same time. At such close range, it was impossible for Finn to miss. He aimed at one of her arms in an attempt to weaken her grip on her sword. The note flew towards her shoulder, it struck true.

But nothing happened.

By the time the electricity had burned through her spores, there was nothing left to even graze her uniform. It seemed the melody that Betty had prepared was defensive in nature. Her plan must have been to brute force her way through whatever Fable mustered and cut through him after the fact. Maybe if he had attacked faster, she wouldn’t have been able to protect herself with such a melody. Or perhaps Betty’s skills were just beyond his, and attacking her and two pyromancers by himself was a fool’s quest.

With their melodies used, it was down to who the better swordsman was.

Betty slid one hand off her hilt and grabbed the rod running along the back of her sword. In such close proximity, ‘half swording’ was a common practice to make fighting in closed spaces easier with larger swords. Though she had even greater leverage now, which was promptly displayed when their blades connected. Fable was sent reeling back towards the wall, while Betty attempted to follow up with a swing.

Finn didn’t have many options left. He could place his sword in front of himself like last time. It wasn’t a fool proof plan, but he had tried it before and it did stop her from slicing him in half. But because of the way Betty was holding her sword, it might be possible for him to stab her if he threw all caution to the wind.

He had to make a choice.

He couldn't miss another chance.

Ditching any thought of going on the defensive, the boy was more than willing to take the gamble and strike. If it didn't work, well, he could only hope the results weren't fatal.

Finn’s rapier glided through the air just as Betty’s swing was about to commence. While the violinist may have had leverage, Finn’s one-handed sword had superior reach on a thrust, which he was able to make use of after springing off the wall. Both children screamed as their blades prepared to enter flesh.

Finn’s rapier managed to tag Betty’s shoulder again. Her shoulder jerked backwards from the blow, but no blood was drawn. Once again, black spores had surged to the location of the attack. It seemed as insurance, Betty’s melody protected her from both physical and arcane dangers. But since the strike was coming at her mid-swing, it did manage to throw off her aim. Her sword glided under Finn’s rapier and missed his torso. Though Finn wouldn’t have long to celebrate, as it took little effort to course correct and ram her sword into Finn’s leg. The square head of her sword wasn’t suited for slicing through flesh, but without anything to stop her, the weight alone was enough to crush Finn’s leg. When she pulled her sword back, he had no recourse but to fall onto his back. ”That’s for thinking you could fight me. And this?” She stepped closer while taking her sword’s hilt in both hands and driving the head of the blade into his shoulder. He howled as whatever made up his inner skeleton snapped. ”This is for calling me that. I don’t want you to ever call me that again.” She squinted her eyes. ”Though I suppose crushing your head is the best way to shut you up..” By this point, the sound of the other freelancers could be heard in the distance. ”They survived?”

Brown looked to Betty. ”Gunther still isn’t-”

”Say another word, and I’ll drain you just to shut you up.” Betty hoisted her sword over her shoulder and ran past the pyromancers. ”Give him a shot and fall back.”

Both pyromancers did as they were instructed before running after Betty. In the presence of a broken leg and shoulder, the fire bolts were negligable to an esper. There was little he could do as Betty’s silhouette faded from view.

It hurts.

God it hurts.

What was he thinking?

Whatever tears Fable shed before returned in a pain-filled sob. It was all he could do, nearly meeting his destruction. "N-No...wait..!" In vain, he reached out as Betty fled, crying out in pain from trying to get back up. Whatever damage the pyromancers did didn't matter. What was the point?

I'm sorry...

No matter what he was, he was still just some dumb kid, was he?

"It is now offically on fucking sight."
"...Honestly cant think of anything witty right now."
- Finn and Oliver

With the reinforcement intervention from both Dina and the Angel of Hope, the boys' plans went off without a hitch. Finn kept focus on juggling between burning the wendigoes nearby with elemental flame and guiding his crows from getting hurt, while Oliver and his duplicates rained hellfire on their foes. The ghosts felt hyped up in seeing three of the frostbitten foes burnt to a crisp, fueled to keep at it with the assault.

Finn took a moment to step away from the wendigo he crippled, half tempted to crush it's skull under his foot as it tried to bite at him. "Hmm. Hey, Oli! Toss a firebomb over here, will ya?"

"You got it, bud!" The original Oliver, keeping near the other boy, tossed a chemical firebomb at the wounded monster, setting it a blaze.

"Thanks!" Finn nodded, focusing back on the battle at hand. Though he couldn't help but pay mind to the hostile beast magic at work. He looked around, trying to sense where the source was, until his one good eye landed on the nearby factory.

Gotcha.

"Keep it up, I'm going after the source!" he called out to everyone in the field, glancing over at Dina to see if she'd follow, then hurried off.

Whether or not his crows would follow, well, that'd be up to them wouldn't it?

...

..

Soon as Justine flew out of the Industrial District, Valerie had decided to message her through their coms.

"Your sister's the frail blonde in blood red, yeah? She's appeared by the Bank but uh...some pink haired dumbass decided to provoke her. You should probably hurry, and if you need back up, I can head down there while Lauren covers for me." The android gave her a quick rundown, looking through traffic cams. She saw Penny, MDP, and Kar'is barreling down the street, and blinked in bewilderment. "They gotta be heading towards the Industrial District." Valerie told herself, focusing on talking with the guys next.

"Heads up, Penny and the Dream Princess are heading towards your location. Dunno who the crystal girl is, but she doesn't seem like an enemy. Keep the momentum up for just a bit longer!"

"Roger."

"Noted!"
