Things here are getting tense. Ruby wants out. Boss lady doubts our bullshit cover. My head's an inch away from meeting a chopping block. Oh, and Ruby seems to want to get down my pants. So there's that. Not sure if it's a consolation prize or just another problem. Who the fuck knows anymore though. At lThe screen cut to black and immediately the meta knew what the problem was. "Ruby," he growled, his lips curling into a frown. Between his fingers he rotated around the iPod touch that was nearing its 10th year of life, having survived so much, having the last remnants of his life before everything went to shit. If she fucked it up, if it was all gone. If he had just lost everything that he had been saving... well, he wasn't quite sure what he would do. Kill Ruby? Maybe. Probably not. Beat her within an inch of her life? Tempting. Chalk that one down as a
maybe. Perhaps she could fix it. He'd still be pissed at her, but at least it would patch up the grievous damage already done to his state of mind.
A faint flicker of unfamiliarity blipped on his mental radar. An interloper from beyond the compound had made a visit to their humble abode. An interloper that Harper recognised the brainwaves of. "Son of a bitch," Harper almost gasped, shooting up from his bed, stumbling across his room in a flurry of movement as he jerked his shorts and a t-shirt on before jaunting outside of his room. The complex was near silent as it tended to be around this time. Only the wannabe vampires were up and they spent too much of their time fucking to do anything of importance; like checking the god damned security room.
The trace of Alto's brainwaves was dissipating faster than he could search the place and only when Harper caught onto the scent of quarters, did he have any idea of where the rat was. Harper shot off after the scent, forgoing jaunting for going as fast as his legs would take him. Jaunting and keeping track of scents was a lot more difficult than simply legging it. Harper came to a stop before the security room door and held his breath, ready for anything when he pushed open the door, finding a mostly empty room. It still reeked of the meta, but there was something that stunk more than anything else.
"Hello, what are you my little friend?" Harper smirked, lifting up the beacon. "Cute, aren't you?" Harper tossed it back and forth from hand to hand, giving the room a cursory glance over before jaunting to Ruby's room. "Wake up, Rubes. Your friends want you to leave and if I let you leave with them, you're just going to wind up dead..." He paused, biting his bottom lip. "Get dressed and grab anything you need, we'll be leaving shortly." Harper commanded, tossing the beacon onto the bed and turning toward the door, arms crossed. "Make it quick unless you're looking to explain to the boss why it is that you're leaving this time."
