Delia Lin
Delia was walking back up the empty street lamenting the fact that all the stores seemed to have closed early
Is today a holiday? Why is everything closed? having walked to the top of a hill Delia pulled out her wallet and walked to a vending looking to get another drink.
As she went to inset the coin she heard a clunk and looked down. A fresh drink was already dispensed. Raising her eyebrows Delia looked around wondering if anyone had simply forgot to grab it. When no such person appeared she reached into grab the drink and suddenly felt as if a vice gripped her.
“Ahh! What the hell is this prank!?” shock and fear instantly gripped Delia’s heart as she wrenched her hand out and scrambled away form the machine. All of a sudden the machine seemed to float before slamming back into the ground, closer to her with each. Getting to her feet Delia rubbed her eyes as if this was some sick hallucination. Then, as if the machine realised it couldn’t catch her, it stopped.
Tilting her head Delia just stared at the machine when all of a sudden she heard the thunk of a dispensing drink , followed by a can being shot at her head. Diving to the side the can smashed into the wall behind her. Eyes wide, Delia got to her feet and ran without looking back, the occasional can whizzing by her head and faster and faster thunk sounds chasing her up the street.
“You stupid piece of machinery! What’s your problem!?” yelling at the top of her lungs Delia poured on an extra ounce of speed, finding herself maybe a block away from the school before kneeling down, exhausted.
*THUNK* *CLUNK* *THWUMP*
*THUNK* *CLUNK* *THWUMP*
*THUNK* *CLUNK* *THWUMP*
The sound of the vending machine was relentless and unstopping. Getting to her feet Delia watched as the machine, although a distance away, pursued her. All of a sudden Delia felt a pulsing come from her wallet, taking out the Tarot card she looked at it as if she had just tasted something sour.
“You stupid card! This all starte-” feeling words flow through her mind and Delia grinned uncontrollably.
“You unfortunate machine”“Take A Gamble on X - Wheel of Fortune”
Throwing the card in front of her, Delia slowly walked forward as the card seemed to grow, blocking a few cans. Without hesitation Delia walked through the enlarged card and came out on the other side in an
unrecognizable form surrounded by a golden aura.
“Come, test your luck~!” pointing what looked like a wand or baton of some description at the machine Delia dashed forward, as the machine launched a faster volley of cans. Deflecting the unconventional bullets for a while, the wand was knocked from Delia’s hand and she had to resort to dodging. Feeling more agile in this form Delia quickly escaped around the back of the vending machine and launched into a flying kick with all her might.
“RIDER KICK!” hitting the machine with such force easily toppled it over. Landing on her feet Delia looked down and noticed something.
“AHH! I’m wearing a skirt?! I hate skirts!” blushing as she thought of anyone looking at her as she did that kick. Seeing no one around Delia tried tugging on the hem as if to somehow turn them into shorts she noticed just in time that the machine was getting back up.
Glaring at it Delia stuck her hand out to the side and a heavy looking
gun contraption fell into her hand. The weird mix of slot machine and gun was soon aimed at the vending machine and Delia pulled the lever. As the slots whirled the sounds of a busy casino could be heard. As the slots stopped three cherries could be seen on the side.
“CH-CH-CHERRY!”An excited voice came out of nowhere and announced the result as Delia pulled the trigger. A ball of coins about the size of a basket ball was launched at the vending machine, punching a hole clean through it.
Turning away Delia slung the gun over her shoulder and walked towards the school, what she interpreted the words ‘Halls of Enlightenment’ to mean.
“Lady Luck wasn’t on your side~!”
