There's definitely things to do instead of crying or feeling victimized. You could calmly digest the nice advices people gave you 14 hours ago, for example.

Seriously, pineapples are, like, miracle fruits. Pineapple jelly? Yum. Pineapple juice? Ooooh. Pineapple cake? Yesss. Pineapple cookie? Godly! Pineapple salad? Ambrosia. Pineapple pizza? The best pizza there is, fight me. Got nothing to do with pens though, so I wonder what that one Japanese guy was all about...

Now on to actual info:
1. I love pineapples

Indeed, pretty much as soon as Srikandi answered her, Anki promptly opened the door to enter before gently closing it behind her. Her gaze then immediately centered on the highly reputed adventurer without bothering to look around the room first. She curtsied politely at Srikandi before replying, the mechanized joints of her limbs barely making any noise as she did so unlike how it would be for most other constructs if they attempted the same. "Indeed. It has been quite a while, Lady Nagasari." Anki remembered Srikandi quite clearly too. Even though she have had to meet so many people in the royal balls that she had attended since becoming princess, Srikandi had made quite the impression on her. And that was without counting the sparring match that they had before, which were a very unusual thing. It was not a typical occasion that one of the princesses sparred with an adventurer, let alone one of Srikandi's reputation. The Royal Arcane Knights had been quite intrigued and worried in equal measure by it back then.

It was only after answering Srikandi that Anki looked around the room briefly. Satisfied with her observation, she then walked over to one of the chairs before sitting down on it. She made sure that the state of her skirt was proper, putting her hands under it to straighten it as she sat down. Then, she put both of her hands on top of each other atop her skirt. Her scepter was leaned on her left shoulder, the heavy head well above Anki's head now that she was seated. One definitely cannot be faulted to think of Anki as being way too polite and prim considering they were not even currently in a royal court.

Then again, Anki also cannot be faulted for her conduct. She had never really had any experience of being casual outside of her interactions with her father or her sister. Everyone else including her mentors and even her friends weren't exactly casual with her; her friends even more so because they didn't want to seem improper towards one of the empire's princesses even if said princess was a friend.

In any case, she then looked at Srikandi again after she were properly seated, nodding lightly at Srikandi's words before replying with her own. "The honor is all mine, Lady Nagasari." She smiled a polite smile in return. "And so I see. I wonder if anyone else will be joining us... Regardless, I shall do my best not to betray your expectations." She finished her words with another nod, deeper than the last one. That was when her gaze then fell on Srikandi's trusty sword. She remembered it as well as she remembered Srikandi herself; it was a beautiful weapon betraying its deadliness and durability. "And I see that Taring is also in a fine condition. Beautiful as I remembered." She actually smiled wider than before as she observed Taring. This smile was not out of politeness after all, it was more genuine. One might think of Anki as weird for displaying such fondness toward what was basically "just" a weapon. This was not unusual of her, and those who gave it more thought should be able to understand why she acted thus toward unliving objects...

Prologue
Fledgling's First Flight

It was finally the day. Since the mysterious celestial body fell from the sky and crashed unto the world in the Dragonspine Mountains, everyone from the humblest of peasants to the highest of lords had their curiosity piqued with the sudden and unusual event. For most people, it was an interesting but ultimately entirely ignorable event that doesn't really affect their daily lives. For the intellectual or the powerful however, the event was very much significant, with concerns ranging from the promise of discovery to the possibility of dangers all being valid.

Emperor Tiberius Oberon, and the Empire of Oberia under his rule and guidance, happened to be filled with those that are both intellectuals and powerful such as the emperor himself. Indeed, it simply will not do for Oberia to just let the event pass without getting involved in investigating it directly. Add to that the fact that the Kingdom of Pataliputra was an important economic and academic partner of the empire, and the perquisite and reasoning were all there for Oberia to involve itself. It was then only a matter of who Oberia were going to send as the investigator that shall brave the potential dangers in the name of discovery. Such situations would normally warrant sending one of Oberia's fabled Royal Arcane Knights of the Knightly Order of Titania or a Royal Alchemist of the Adeptus Alkemia, highly capable individuals hand picked by the emperor himself to be Oberia's royal agents in affairs both domestic and foreign.

This time however, things had turned out differently.

All in the empire, and even many of those beyond its borders, knew of the twin princesses of Oberia. Adopted daughters of the empire himself, even just the circumstances of their miraculous "birth" had attracted the curiosity of the world similar to how the meteor had done now. Those who knew their names tended to also knew of their unusual upbringings, of their quite literally unnatural beauty, and of their great potentials despite their significant youth. However, not many among these people were also aware of how flawed the twins were. Miraculous their existences might be, they were after all still people. Flawed, with faults and weaknesses of their own, most glaringly being their general inexperience unsurprising due to their yet few years of lives.

And it were these flaws and these imperfections that made the emperor worry to no end when the younger of the twin, the 2nd princess Khaltesh Anki, had insisted that she be the one to go and investigate the meteor. On one end, Oberon was reluctant to allow Anki to go due to the reasons previously stated. On the other end, Oberon also knew that it's also simply wrong to refuse his young daughter's wish and deny her the chance to finally see the world outside of Oberia's borders. There's wisdom in giving her the chance; such endeavor might prove to be what Anki needed to significantly grew further as a person. Not to mention that Oberon, pioneer of revolutionary civil rights and advancement in racial harmony, would be akin to a hypocrite if he were to deny Anki's request.

Oberon, whom miraculous research had brought upon the advent of the sentient constructs to the world. Oberon, who had quickly adapted the laws and traditions of the empire to accommodate the constructs' existence and gave them rights as individuals and persons just like all other sentient beings. People would then be right to argue that it would be hypocrisy for him to deny Anki's wishes, seeing as how this beloved daughter of his was one of those very sentient constructs.

In the end, it was only after significant ruminations and discussions with many people including Anki herself and Anki's sister Spenta Armaiti that Oberon finally relented and allowed Anki to go with his blessings. On one condition. She were not to go on this expedition alone. Instead, she was to join up with other highly capable individuals who were also sent to investigate the crash by other countries allied with the Empire. One such individuals in particular being the famed Ksatria Naga, Pataliputra's very own Srikandi Nagasari. Talks supported by Oberia's own revolutionary Long Range Arcane Communication Aperture had already been done to finalize it. Regardless of how many other individuals might be joining the expedition, Anki shall be companion to Srikandi for this expedition.

All preparations for the mission were already done. She had also already said her goodbyes to her father, her sister, her mentors, her friends and many others significant to her. There shall be no fanfare, celebration, or other formalities. It was to be her first adventure after all, and she will return home all the better for it. Of this, Anki was very confident.

And so off she went. It was finally the day, for the young fledgling's first flight to the wide majestic world, out of the safety and comfort of her silver cage.

Expedition's First Days

She could have gotten her own private lodgings, it was after all part of the arrangements due to her status as a princess of Oberia. It would have been way more lavish and extravagant than a private room in Cendana's Adventurers Guild for sure. Instead, she had decided to change that part of the arrangement. Anki was not here for vacation, nor did she believed that she was here in her capacity as a princess. No, in her mind, she's here on a mission as an agent of the empire. She had no need for extravagant comfort, though then again she never were one for such things anyhow. That was why she was completely fine with her involvement being something of a mutually beneficial thing for the empire and the Pataliputra both instead of something that will exclusively benefit herself. The rewards that were promised by the kingdom to those adventurers that joined the expedition and made it a success will not be applicable to her; neither she nor the empire had need for it anyhow. The strengthening of the bond between the empire and the kingdom, along with the experiences Anki shall doubtlessly accumulate, will be rewards enough.

So there she was with her trusty magical specter Ur Terra, one of the two fabled "doll princesses" of Oberia, walking out of her own private room within the guild to go to another room where her supposed companion should be located in. Curious gazes followed her from what bystanders there were along the way; she was not bothered by it at all, mostly because she didn't even really noticed that she were observed. Regardless, soon enough she arrived to her destination. Standing in front of the door, she paused for a few moments seemingly absently gazing at the wooden partition, in reality confirming that this door indeed will lead to the right room. Then she raised her free right hand to knock on the door exactly thrice, each time with exactly the same amount of strength put into it to cause three solid thuds to sound out from the wood.

Then she spoke, simply. "Ms. Srikandi Nagasari? Are you inside?"

Rosaria slowly relaxed as Paige seemed to accept her presence well enough. It seemed like there was no worry of any misunderstanding happening and causing a case of friendly fire out of panic.

"Right..." Rosaria said simply in response to Paige. At least it doesn't seems like she's in danger of suddenly keeling over... Rosaria did also noticed Paige's fear. It made sense after all, the young woman managed to escape and yet still broke a rib. Considering how intense the situation was and how painful it would be for her to even move, Rosaria couldn't blame her for being unnerved. Regardless, she listened to Paige's words as the other woman told her of a plan to get the others out of the building.

Rosaria didn't immediately respond, pausing for a few seconds to quickly think about the plan and how viable it would be. As she finished mulling it over, she turned her gaze back to the entrance to the lobby while replying to Paige. "Well... I suppose it's a good enough plan for what it is. Just one thing though..." She turned her ethereal skeletal visage back to Paige. "My powers are pretty much useless when it comes to helping people get away from danger. Not to mention I don't know how those other... "heroes", would react to my appearance...." She sighed lightly at the thought. It's true enough in her own mind, she was far from the most suitable for such a task.

"I'd probably be more effective as the distraction instead honestly... How about you? You think you can get the others out while I distract that villain?"

What's the worse that can happen with asking a wounded, frightened young woman to help evacuate a bunch of struggling super powered people out of an extremely dangerous situation, right? Gosh, it seemed like there was just simply no good options no matter which way Rosaria and Paige were going to do this. And what on earth was that flash of very colorful light that just appeared inside?...
Higashiakemi Ryuuko (東明見 竜子)
Franz Steiner

What a fantastic night he thought, as his sobriety had only been fully restored as he was leaving the hall. The lights were brighter in the hall, the music more moving, and he had a dance partner who knew how to dance. In fact, at points she danced better than him and took the lead. This normally would have been a point of wounded pride for the Austrian boy, similar to his exchange with the violin virtuoso. But in his altered state, he found it rather enjoyable.

"I don't know where you learnt to dance like that Ryuuko. But you are certainly no run of the mill Oriental girl. For that you have my commendation." Franz twirled her around with hand above her head as if the dance was still continuing. "Although next time, I'm afraid, I will be taking the lead. I have a reputation to uphold after all." He stated in a joking matter.

It was a fittingly great end to the night for Ryuuko as well. Ryuuko was most certainly not among the best of dancers, but she also most certainly possessed of much more gusto and endurance than most; and Franz were able to keep up with her lead. She kept her smile as she left the hall walking alongside Franz, feeling quite content indeed. Of course, Hana's administration of whatever chemicals it were that she produced also helped with that. The effects had faded now, but it regardless contributed to Ryuuko's good mood.

"Why thank you, you honor me with your commendation." She giggled lightly, half playful with her answer. "You yourself had proven yourself to be extraordinary once more, Franz. Not many had the guts to actually finish a proper dance with me. And sure, I suppose it's only fair to let you take the lead next time, hmm?" She returned the jest accompanied by her typical wide toothy grin.

The pair continue with their small talk as they board the same tram together. They've found out along the way that they're actually going to be in the same accomodation with one another. From Ryuuko's part, she had assumed that they'll be rooming together; something that Ryuuko had been quite pleased about. After all, on top of having a positive impression of Franz due to seeing him as fellow "mold breaker", Franz had proven to be pleasant company. That it would be highly unusual for a male and a female student to be put together as roommates didn't occur to her.

Alas, her mood then took a not insignificant dip as she stepped out of the tram and looked upon the place that was to be her accomodation. A frown immediately formed on her face as her left eye twitched in irritation. "... A ryokan." She paused, standing still for a good five seconds. "A. Damn. Ryokan." Ryuuko grinned wide, eyes seemingly ablaze as she tried her very best not to follow it up with an actual fiery blast of flame. Instead, she took a few deep breaths in and out to settle her nerve. This is either an extremely annoying fluke, or a deliberate attempt by someone who had it out for me. Gods. Blasted. Damn it.

Franz was left curious by his companions sudden drop in mood. It was pretty obvious that it was the living arrangements that had caused it. Franz of course had no idea what a Ryokan was, but it looked nice enough on the outside. It even had a big garden he could bring his spiders out to. By all regards, there was nothing too bad about it on a surface level.

"You must forgive me for my ignorance. But I would assume you would find such a place... homely. No?" Sure the girl had a rebellious spirit, but she was still Japanese. Wasn't she? Franz thought.

Ryuuko turned to look at Franz as he asked the question. She took one more deep breath in and then slowly sighed it out, now slightly less aggravated. She didn't exactly smiled as she usually would when talking with other people, an obviously unhappy grimace still on her face as she started talking. "Yes, well... I didn't came all the way here to Bermuda to just experience... "home". If that made sense." She sighed again, trying hard to stop herself from getting pissed off again; which her emotional part was nudging her toward.

"I'd much rather be placed in an accomodation based on an Occidental design. Or heck, even another kind of Oriental design instead of something that I've already experienced countless times before all my life. Now I'm just hoping it won't be as... Traditionally Japanese inside as it looked outside." Ryuuko then lightly bit her own lower lip, eyes narrowed as she looked toward the building again. She paused for a few more seconds before then letting out yet another sigh, followed by shaking her head casually and shrugging. "But hey, at least I can count on your company, hmm? That'll help make this way more tolerable." She grinned widely at Franz. While she said it playfully, she really did feel that his presence was one of the positive things she can take away from this.. disaster.

Franz stood in silence for a moment, letting Ryuuko let out all she had to say until she asked him a question directly. He took her hand politely and smiled "I'm afraid the interiors of this place will be more of the same. I can understand your frustration, variety is the spice of life after all. And, seeing as I'm the only thing of Occidental design around here, you are more than welcome to keep your attention on me." Franz gave a small laugh to his own joke.

While Franz knew this exchange would be beneficial for his studies, he couldn't shake that he genuinely enjoying the girl's company either. He decided to follow his whims rather than continue to analyse each move she made.

"I imagine my bags would have been delivered into my room. With all the trinkets and tools of the Occident they contain, I imagine the place would look far less... traditional. Once unpacked, you are welcome to come around any time of course." Franz begun to lead her inside the building. "If you get sick of the taste of 'home'." He joked as he viewed the entrance, an alien archetectural design to him.

Ryuuko lifted her left hand, putting the palm against the back of her neck while making gentle rubbing motions as Franz held her right hand politely. She then sighed again, but at the very least it was then followed by a light smile. "Yeah, you're right. It's likely just going to be the same inside, heh... But you're also right indeed that I can just keep my attention on you instead!" She let out a hearty laugh at that, decided that she will indeed do just that for now.

"And oh I definitely can't wait for that. Anything that can make this place look less traditionally Japanese is a winning plan to me." A light, playful chuckle followed her words as Franz began leading her inside to the building. "And well, I myself definitely have plans to renovate. Small things first for tonight... And then bigger renovations on the first chance to do so!"

Ryuuko took just a brief look around as they entered, enough to confirm that Franz was of course right about how the inside wasn't any less Japanese than the outside. Light wooden furnishing, flooring, walls, and ceilings. Sliding doors. Wall scrolls with kanji letters written on them. Paper lanterns covering electric light bulbs. Even bonsai plants... She suppressed another grimace, instead making a shrug and returning her attention to Franz as she already decided. "Of course, you're very welcome to take in and enjoy the sight of this place. Not like I can stop you from doing so, hmm? Haha... I might even be able to answer and give explanations if something caught your attention about the design and such. Whether I like it or not, it's knowledge that unsurprisingly had now been permanently ingrained in me after all."

Of course Franz was interested by the scenery. As much as he liked to consider himself cultured, that often only extended to cultures of the Occident. With this being an entirely new place to him, he was filled with the desire to explore it. Similar to an archeologist who had found a new set of ruins to study. "I..." He was about to ask for some sort of tour before he remembered the mood of his company toward this place. Franz cleared his throat. "To you, these halls are mundane and blasé. I don't wish for you to stay out here any longer than you want to." Franz began picking up the pace toward their room.

Once they reached the door, Franz looked toward Ryuuko as he tried to open it. "Besides, some long tour would just take away the mystery." Upon feeling around for a handle and finding nothing he drew his attention back to the door. Quickly putting two and two together he slid it open. "Oh."

What Franz saw was a stylish but minimalist room with his bags placed neatly to the side. With his own grandiose Occidental expectations, the room looked empty to him. "I am confused. Do they keep the rest of the furniture in a closet somewhere?"

"And whose bags are these? I supposed I was bound to have a room mate. I hope he doesn't bother me too much. Maybe he passed out at the party and won't be coming home tonight." Franz chuckled looking back at Ryuuko.

"Oh." Ryuuko said with a look of surprise on her face. "I see..." While she did felt that Franz had been pleasant company thus far, she didn't expect him to be so considerate of her feelings. The surprise soon faded, turning into a wide smile. "Hehe, alright then! Let's just proceed as we are." She continued letting Franz led her through the ryokan.

Soon arriving at the door to the room, Ryuuko was about to point out to Franz that the door indeed had no handle when he quickly realized it himself. Then she looked at the room along with Franz. "Ha! Just as I expected then. A typical ryokan room indeed." She looked at Franz as he looked confusedly at the modestly decorated room. "Oh no, what you see here are indeed what we're getting. Well, there's likely some spare futon, blankets, and pillows there." She said as she pointed at another, smaller sliding door at the other side of the room. "But yeah... This is it. I guess on the bright side, there's lots of empty room to put our own stuffs, huh?" She shrugged and sighed casually.

"Oh, those bags?" She looked at the bags as Franz joked about the room mate which was yet unknown to him. "Why, those are mine, of course!" Ryuuko let out a small laugh at that. "I most definitely did not pass out at the party, seeing as I am here, hmm?" She joked back, not yet realizing that Franz really didn't know that he's going to be staying together with her.

Franz listened to Ryuuko speak as he inspected the room for anything else. Not that he didn't believe Ryuuko, but more out of disbelief of the rooms emptiness.

The beds were a particular sore point for him, seeing them so close to the ground. Lifting up the blankets of one, he saw the remains of something that could hardly be considered a mattress. It reminded Franz of home, 'home' home. While some may call such a thing tradition or humility Franz had another word for it. Poverty. Was this another humility the universe saw fit to bestow upon him tonight? Like his exchange with the maestro.

Franz took a double take when Ryuuko claimed the bags. At first with a startled expression, but then widened into a smile which he did his best to downplay. This truly caught him off guard, what luck did he have that he was given a room with an Egoist. A coed room with some good company at that. What luck indeed.

"Well, what a pleasant surpise. I look forward to the year." Franz attempted to lie down on the mattress to confirm that, in fact, his ankles hung off the side. "I believe these beds will be the first improvement" Franz joked. "Even stacked on top of each other, they would hardly make a decent mattress. And I believe I'll need a proper desk also."

While Franz inspected the room, Ryuuko started sorting out her bags. Well, bags and crates. She had a perfectly square wooden box about a meter in length, height, and width among her belongings. She didn't open this box, instead carrying it with one hand and opening the sliding door of the in-room storage space; putting the box there beside the spare mattress, blankets, and pillows.

That done, she returned to her bags while looking at Franz, a smile also on her face. "I'm definitely looking forward to the year as well, Franz." She then pointed to the spare mattresses inside the storage space. "Oh I definitely agree about that. Futons are subpar compared to even a standard Occidental bed." She chuckled lightly before continuing. "Still, I don't know if we'll be able to obtain a more suitable bed tonight, considering how late it is... So maybe we can make use of the spare stuffs that they've provided to at least make things more bearable."

Ryuuko sighed lightly at her own suggestion. She's honestly not looking forward to sleeping on a futon either, even with extra mattress and blanket. It was one of the things she definitely didn't miss after she moved to Germany, after all. It was ridiculous to her that the Kaiser Institute were able to provide way more comfortable lodging for her than her own so-calledly influential and very wealthy family... Oh well. At least the room came with its own proper toilet and bathroom, unlike some of the really traditional ryokan in Japan with their dark, drafty bathroom. That would be extra annoying.

Franz joined Ryuuko over where the bags are kept and begun unpacking. "Tonight was a good night, and I see nothing to suggest things go down from here." He stepped in close to her and made direct eye contact. "I hope this does not come off as too forward. But I would like to have the record straight going forth." Franz leaned in and kissed her.

Why was he doing this? Franz thought to himself. Tt was a bold move, and there was considerable risk involved. Would he take such risks for something as seemingly trivial as a kiss? Having an egoist on his side would be an unimaginable benefit to his plans. But then again, she could just as easily get offended an leave. So internally Franz knew his logic was flawed. For now, he just continued and hoped one of his lips wasn't claimed by razor sharp teeth.

After a while, Franz stepped back and tidied up his suit. "And with that Miss Higashiakemi, I will be getting ready to sleep. We can begin making renovations in the morning." Franz stated matter of factly before going about his own business.

"Well now, aren't you an optimist. Very good." Ryuuko laughed lightly, still in a joking mood as Franz stepped closer to her. She returned his gaze directly, looking at Franz's eyes in turn. "Too forward? Now whatever do you mean by that?" She was still smiling, expecting Franz to make a joke in turn even as he leaned in closer.

Now a kiss, she didn't expect at all. Even in that short frame of time, she could have had avoided it in normal circumstances. This time, she was too preoccupied with wondering what interesting things Franz will do or say. ".... ?!" Ryuuko's eyes widened at the contact, very much surprised and more than a little bit confused. In a way, Franz was lucky for quite a few reasons. Being bitten on the lips would have been the least of his worry if not for those reasons, considering Ryuuko's slap could well be lethal to the average person. Heck, she had primed the venom sacks in her throat by reflex. He was sooo close to being incinerated to ashes.

Ryuuko stepped back as Franz himself did so, her face still full of bewilderment. "Wuh- Wha- Uhhhh." She raised her left hand halfway. And then lowered it again. Before then raising it again, finger pointing at Franz. "Now hold on a sec! What was that just now?? Why did you- just- WHAT??" She continued staring at Franz even as he started going about his own business. She wasn't about to let him just go to sleep after something like that.

That was her first kiss for lord's sake, it was a massively big deal! She definitely wanted explanations!

Franz was lucky to have gotten out of that unhurt. It didn't take a genius to know when someone was caught by complete surprise. Ryuuko could have hit him out of panic and the sheer force would put him in the hospital. And that is all assuming that the hit was unintentional. He shuddered to think what a hit with intent could do.

Franz turned his head away from his business and back toward the frantically questioning Ryuuko. At first he feigned some slight surpise but then switched to a pleasant smile. "Why is an easy enough question to answer. I was taken by the moment of the night and stunned by your beauty. I apologize for my actions if you found them truly so awful. I will mind my manners in future." Franz pondered for a bit before continuing. "You know, that was my first kiss." The speech as a whole had some truth and some lies. Although Franz is particularly good at hiding which is which.

"..... Uhh." Ryuuko's mind was still trying to comprehend what had happened. It took her some time to register what Franz had said in answer to her bewilderment. "I- Well that was my first kiss too but- wait that's not the point!" She was even more confused. Did he meant that he liked her? Or did he meant that it was just an in the moment thing? She rubbed her own temple with one of her hands, unsure of how to react. It's been a while since the last time she were completely caught off guard by something just so very unexpected, and now it suddenly happened twice in such a short period of time.

So she did what she always do whenever it happened. She took a few deep breaths in and out to calm her nerves down. She also needed to undo the priming of her venom sacks while at it. Accidental arson wouldn't be funny even if it was a ryokan that got burned down. In any case, it was a couple of seconds later before she finally calmed down enough to respond to Franz again.

"Huff... Look, Franz. I like you as a person. I did said that you're good company, and I'm honest about that..." Her left hand rubbed the back of her neck as she tried to compose her next words, pausing for a few more seconds. "But umm. A kiss and such other stuffs. I uhh, I'd rather only do that kind of things with, you know, people that actually wanted to be romantically committed to me, so... Yeah."

Franz was taken back in a bit by Ryuuko's reaction. He had not expected such a sullen reply. The weight of his actions had certainly had an effect, and the dip in mood was certainly not one he welcomed. "I apologize Frau Higashiakemi, I had not expected you to be so conservative about matters of love." Franz definately had an air of sincerity about him now. "I too, enjoyed the company and think we could make great strides in the field of Egoism together. I dare not jeprodise that. Who knows, I may end up a commited man by the end of this year. But not right now. So, for the time being, I can only wish you a good night." Franz hopped into the 'bed' that was provided by the accomodation. Trying to downplay the discomfort of such a thin mattress.

"....." Ryuuko took one more deep breath in and then out, an especially long one. Then she looked at Franz again and nodded. "Yes, it's... alright." She tried to smile, managing a small one. She'd rather not ruin her relation with Franz too. It looked to her that he really wasn't meaning any harm after all, so it will not do to hold any resentment toward him. "Indeed... I continue to look forward to your company, in work and out of. And well..." Finally, she grinned her usual toothy grin as she spoke her next words. "I suppose we shall see about the matter of "commitment", hmm? Good night, Franz."

And with that, she turned around and started to prepare her own futon as well. A good sleep will be very much welcomed after the eventful day and night.

Rosaria had managed to get out of the building unharmed, retreating quickly to the roof of a nearby building. She reappeared out of the shadow, crouched on one of the edges of the flat-shaped rooftop, having full view of the front entrance area of the Lafayette Financial Tower. Of course, she couldn't really see into the lobby itself from where she was, and thus had no knowledge that one of her fellow "heroes" had fallen to the villain's powerful attack. She took a moment to reorient herself, taking deep breaths in and out to calm her nerves. Her heart was still beating rapidly from the intense situation she had been in just moments earlier, and she was having cold sweats despite the cool weather.

In her mind, she knew that she might have been killed if she took that big charged attack that Thundercloud unleashed. Then again, it's not like that was unexpected... After all, she already knew that being a "hero" was a highly risky thing to do when she decided on it.

Before she could contemplate things even further however, Rosaria saw a particular figure standing there at the front entrance of the tower, among the fallen henchmen of the villain. She had seen this person before, the one that seemingly teleported from place to place just like Rosaria herself were able to do, although something felt different with the way that this person did it. Rosaria took a moment to observe the figure, quickly noticing that she seemed to be in pain. It seemed that the young woman had not been able to escape outside unscathed.

Huh..... Rosaria took a few more seconds contemplating things in her mind. She hesitated, wondering if she should remain where she was or to approach the wounded woman. She wondered if it was even safe to do so, as she knew nothing at all about this person. Then, as she were thinking, a voice sounded out in her head. "I know that you know what to do, daughter. You're going to be a hero after all!" It was the voice of her father. She immediately realized it as a typical instance of the auditory hallucination she had now gotten very used to. Yet regardless of that, it made Rosaria let out a long sigh before then shaking her head, making just the lightest of smile. Right. I'm playing this whole "hero" thing after all... Might as well try to act more like one.

And thus her hesitation faded away. Rosaria quickly melded back into the shadows, and just mere moments later came out of it again from the shadows some distance away from where Paige was standing. "Uhh... Don't freak out but... You okay? You looks like you're in pain." She started talking to Paige, still keeping her guard up out of habit. Not to mention she was still in her shadow form, so to Paige it would seemed like a dark skull-faced creature was talking to her... She'd rather not be attacked by another super powered individual that got freaked out by her appearance. "You were inside too, were you not? Trying to take out Thundercloud and his goons?... Well, me too."

Higashiakemi Ryuuko (東明見 竜子)
Yun Hana
Shou Zheng
Franz Steiner

The two might have had a few moments to dine in peace, but they were interrupted before any real continuation of their conversation could happen. Thankfully Hana had chosen a table off to the side of the hall, and thus underneath one of the boxes that littered the second floor. It gave him an opportunity to greet her in a rather unorthodox method; see if he couldn't get more of a reaction from her. Hopefully her dining partner didn't mind too much. Then again, Mrs. Higashiakemi was supposed to be the rather free spirited sort.

Given how the both of them were Egoist, they may have noticed something of a shadow over their dining table. Despite Jeanne's warning, Shou nonetheless continued to use the opera boxes as perches to hop between instead of their intended use. The railing might have protested and creaked a bit as he wrapped his tail around it to secure himself, but it did hold. For the moment at the least as he hung himself upside down from them and intruded on the pair's dinner.

"Hana-yang! Good to see you here," he greeted her in Korean with a grin as he swayed upside down somewhat precariously.

Ryuuko was in the middle of enjoying her dinner, which she ate rather quickly owing to the unique way upon which she eats. She noticed when the famed violinist took to the stage and invited the also famed, for his own particular reasons, self-proclaimed mesmerologist. Ryuuko wasn't really one for such form of music, preferring rather... revolutionary kinds of music instead, but even she were able to tell that the two violinists were playing very well. Of course, she couldn't notice that Franz was actually the inferior between the two. Both Zamloch and Franz sounded just as good to her.

For sometime, she focused on just enjoying her dinner. When she did decided to resume her conversation with Hana, she stopped as she noticed the shadow over the table which were then followed by the figure of fellow egoist Shou Zheng hanging upside down as he greeted Hana, beating Ryuuko to the gun.

Ryuuko raised an eyebrow at that, quickly recognizing who the "intruder" was. Then, she chuckled lightly before grinning. "Well well, you sure know how to make an appearance, Mr. Zheng... How rude, intruding upon two ladies enjoying their dinner. While hanging upside down no less, hehe." Of course, she wasn't actually the littlest bit offended, being amused instead at the fellow egoist's antics. "Regardless, it is good to finally meet you in person... Care to actually take a seat? Or would you prefer to continue being upside down as we talk?" She let out a casual, playful laugh at that.

Hana took a bit more time with her meal than Ryuuko, so she wasn't as far into her meal when the unexpected visitor dropped in. He did managed to get the drop on her, eliciting a short exclamation of surprise. It didn't last very long, as the greeting alone was enough to recognise the boy hanging unspide-down above the table. A smile spread across her face, quickly replacing the surprise.

"Oh, you startled me there, Shou." She replied in latin, just to keep to the lingua franca. "It's been a while, and I dare say this meeting's much nicer than the first time." She had to agree with Ryuuko's invitation, and gestured a bit to one of the empty chairs nearby. "You're welcome to join us, although do be careful about hanging upside-down too long. I hear it's not usually good for one."

"Well, it's certainly not good for the railing," he agreed with a cheerful smile as his impromptu introduction was welcomed. He could feel the metal bend and give within the grip of his tail, and he let go before something finally snapped. Even just a few feet above the pair was enough for Shou to twist midair and land clear of their table as he caught himself with his tail. "I'm glad to see you've made it to Bermuda."

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Ryuuko. You don't mind, do you?" He asked about the casual way he addressed the other girl as he pulled one of the empty seats up and dropped himself into it. She hadn't been wrong to call him rude, even if she hadn't truly meant it either. Around someone he had history with, a more crude and lax personality easily bled into his posture and expression.

"Mind? Ha!" Ryuuko grinned widely at that. Being able to address people casually without inadvertently causing an offense is music to her ears. "Quite the opposite. I'm glad to know you're not one for needless formality, Shou." She continued as shou then dropped from his upside-down posturing to one of the empty seats. "And now that you're well and properly on the same "level" as the rest of us, it's even better, hehe."

She then looked at Hana, or more precisely made sure that both Hana and Shou were in her field of vision. "And I see that you're both already quite familiar with each other, hmm? Long time friends, perhaps?" She asked casually while at the same time putting in one more large spoonful of her dinner into her mouth. Considering she's also putting an eyebrow up and smirking, it's quite obvious to the other two that the relative stranger among them was being unrestrainedly curious about their relation to one another.

Hana was tempted to play along, just to see how the other two would react. It would be easy enough to give Ryuuko the wrong idea, but friendly as she was, it might be a bit too early to joke around. "We met a while ago," she does confirm. "It's probably more his story to tell, I was just brought in to help with his treatment." There was, as far as she knew, no reason to keep that much private. She would leave the details to Shou, as it really was more his story. There were parts of it she didn't really know anyway, given how late she entered the tale.

"It's nice when I only have to worry about stepping on the toes of the person I'm talking to," Shou agreed with a sharp nod and grin. He couldn't qute manage something as striking as Ryuuko with her fangs, but the enthusiasm was there all the same. His lips did curl a bit upwards into more of a smirk at her line of questioning, and he looked towards Hana. She was a familiar face to him, yes, but that hardly meant he was any good at figuring out what she was thinking.

"It was just over a year ago, so not that long, but she's quite the important friend. It was nice having some company that was around my age, even if I didn't know a lot of Korean when I first showed up there. Yes, I enjoyed your company Hana, even if I was bedridden for the most of it~" Shou elaborated as he rolled his eyes a bit. Elaborated mighth have been a bit generous with how he hadn't described the events that brought them together at all!

With Ryuuko leaned in and clearly still curious though... Shou didn't mind actually explaining. With how unusual the loss of a full merchant fleet was nowadays, the event had certainly made the news. Possibly all the way to the Occident even! There were no doubt those that would pounce on any chance to call attention to Oriental failings.

"I know some of our papers called it the Tragedy of the Sixth," Shou started off, "but it's probably got a different title where you lived when it happened Ryuuko. I was onboard the escort assigned to the merchants because of some pirate activity in the area. What hit us definitely weren't pirates though..." He trailed off for a moment as his expression furrowed in thought before he sighed.

"We were close enough that the Koreans noticed the distress flares and sent out help. The other survivors and I weren't in the best of shapes though, even if we did avoid going down with our ships. Can't say I remember being transported all the way back to the mainland, but I do remember the first face I saw. Hana looked pretty cute with her expression all scrunched up in concentration." And just like that, the more serious tone of Shou's story went up in smoke as he took the opportunity to tease her. "I think there were... what, five different drugs you had in me when I first woke up?" He asked as he glanced towards Hana for clarification.

"In my home country, they say that incident is a failure of Egoism." Franz had joined in, his tone more on of curiousity than the somber tone talking about such a tradgedy. He had followed the sight of an aquatic acrobat on the second story because Franz realised he had yet to talk with an egoist all night. "The Occident is quick to label Egoism as a field with no further point of progress. So any news of failure in the Orient is quickly bent to such a belief. I happen to disagree entirely."

"I apologize, where are my manners. My name is Franz Steiner. May I join you three?" Franz developed a small polite smile on realizing that his company was all of the Egoist field of study. It was a field he respected and rather enjoyed learning about. But he did get some amusement from how brazen his introduction would be to the table.

Hana didn't mind the sudden interruption, and quickly turned her attention to their new interlocutor. "Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Steiner. I'm Hana Yun," she began with a straightforward introduction. "This is Miss Ryuuko Higashiakemi," she getured to the dragon girl seated next to her, "and Mr. Shou Zheng," indicating the young man. "I dare say you need little introduction; you're quite the man of the hour, with that performance earlier."

Tactfully refraining from comment on the occidental perception of the incident itself, Hana picked up the narrative where Shou lad left off. "I think it was something like that. Only maybe one or two were of my own design, but we definitely had you on quite a bit to help you recuperate. You were still quite goofy from anesthetic when you first woke up, if I recall." She didn't elaborate, but the grin on her face suggests it must have been interesting to see.

"Oooh, I see." Ryuuko nodded along as she listened to Hana's and Shou's retelling of the event that led to the two of them becoming acquaintated. "Oh yeah, now that you said it that became quite the big news, huh. I remembered the media in my country were generally trying to be somewhat subdued about it what's with not wanting to make it like the Orient messed something up. Heh." She casually shrugged at that, and before she can respond even further the famed mesmerologist intruded upon the conversation.

"Ha, and the star of the night had decided to grace us with his presence! Care to take a seat?" Ryuuko remarked playfully, meaning it in good humor. "Indeed, pleasant to finally meet you in person, Mr. Steiner. Like Ms. Yun had kindly said on my behalf, I'm Ryuuko. Higashiakemi Ryuuko." She nodded casually, grinning as she introduced herself. She also noticed Hana's decision to not comment on the Occidental perception about the incident.

Well, Ryuuko herself definitely have no reservation to comment on it. "For reasons obvious, I definitely disagree about Egoism being a field devoid of further progress." She chuckled lightly before continuing. "But it was a failure nonetheless in a way, so they're not wrong on that. Failures are what kept us improving after all... The Orient.. Or rather my country, would do well to understand that." And she finished her remark with a sort of lightly disdainful scoff at the thought. It is after all, indeed one of the folly of Japan, being a country so prideful and allergic to anything that can be regarded as bad press for the country's image.

"But eh, whatever." She shrugged again, her expression quickly turning into a nonchalant smile. "Regardless that was interesting to know." She nodded to Shou and Hana. "It would have been even more interesting to see your work in action directly, Ms. Yun..." Then she turned and grinned playfully as she looked at Shou, deciding to tease him lightly. "And indeed even eeeven more interesting to see Shou here being goofy."

"Hardly a surprise there," Shou remarked as he rolled his eyes at Franz's rather blunt entry into the conversation. There was a lot more that could be said about the incident, but it was neither the company nor time for it. An amused snort escaped him as Ryuuko didn't miss the opportunity to take a jab at Japan. Given the amount of effort her old family had spent on tarnishing her reputation though, it wasn't that surprising that the grudges ran both ways now.

In any case, Hana had already done the introductions for him and there was plenty of space around the table for Franz to pull up a seat for himself.

He raised an eyebrow at his fellow Egoist and just smirked right back. "We can find out together then. Hana still won't tell me exactly what I did, and I certainly can't remember much of what happened." He turned his narrowed eyes towards the person in question as if that would somehow get an answer out of the amused girl.

Franz pulled out a chair and graciously fell into it with the flair one would expect. "Miss Yun, Miss Higashiakemi you both flatter me too much. Although I am glad you enjoyed the performance. High praise should never go unappreciated." Franz noticed Shou's significantly colder reception to his intrusion. But it was hardly surprising, given the subject matter. "It is also a pleasure to meet you too Mr Shou. I can see such an event is not my business to press further about."

"The pleasure's all mine," he replied in turn to Franz as he softened his tone somewhat and nodded a greeting. "Lord knows I've heard more than my fair share of rumours about you." It wasn't even that much of an exaggeration either. The rumours weren't all that widespread in the Orient yet, but it hadn't been uncommon to hear Steiner brought up during discussions on Polymaths of note.

Japan was an infamously closed off to the rest of the world. It is certainly not a country above critique. But it was interesting to see someone so openly critical of their own nation. It still did not cross Franz' mind that Ryuuko may be the defector, given she talked about Japan as if it was still her nation. He would address Ryuuko directly. "One could consider my profession Egoism into the minds of others. So I am certainly in no position to say it has reached its limits, nor do I want to make that claim. While it may be increasingly more difficult to improve Egoism in a linear manner, creative applications have only just scratched the surface from what I hear." He had wondered if Egoism of the mind was a common thing in the Orient. Certainly he only knew one person who had done it successfully.

But then Franz realised in his talking that the attention was on Hana. He was also curious to know what goofy behaviors the girl could cause this beast of a boy to exhibit.

"Oh, it wasn't that much, really. I'm sure if anyone else has had a similar expereince it'd be the same story for them. He said some silly things that I won't repeat here becuase I honestly can't remember the details either. And there's the usual stumbling around in a bit of a haze." Of course, she full well could have helped with that recovery. And left unspoken was any suggestion of the difficulty in sedating or otherwise treating an egoist in the first place. "I did give him something to take the haze off and perk up in a hurry. One of my tricks is a pretty good antidote."

And now, tempted to show off, Hana leaned in toward the center of the table, conspiratorially. "While I shouldn't encourage it, I do have a few drugs I could administer at low doses, if one wants an idea of the experience. And hey, we can all be sobered up by the end of this conversation, too." Maybe it was an indiscretion on her part, but her own skills weren't nearly as obvious as some.

"That, is exactly how it is Mr. Steiner." Ryuuko nodded and smiled lightly at Franz's words. "I suppose in general it would take an Egoist to understand that there are so much potentials yet within the art of Egoism, so I'm glad to hear that you are able to understand that we've barely scratched the surface of it. After all, with how complex it is just by nature, the human body still holds so many secrets we have yet to uncover."

She then turned to look at Shou and Hana, returning Shou's smirk with yet another toothful of grin of her own. "Well now, that's an interesting suggestion, Shou. Hands on experience is always better than merely hearing it from others after all..." And for someone as curious as Ryuuko, there's indeed just no way she'll pass up the chance to experience it. "So with that said... I'd take you up on that offer, Ms. Yun. A low dose shouldn't be too bad, hmm?" She chuckled casually, though her eyes are positively lit up by obvious curiosity.

"Please. I bet you still carry around that notebook of your's," Shou remarked with an amused snort as he sat up in his seat and leaned forwards. "I'm certainly not getting buzzed with these drinks though, and I did sort of bring it up. So are we going to need glasses for this? Maybe some hand-holding?" He waggled his eyebrows a bit as he held his arm out towards Hana.

Franz was taken aback by Miss Yun's offer in pleasant suprise. It was a choice Franz did not expect to be faced with tonight. Still, he was no coward and he wasn't about to show weakness in front of his new Egoist friends. "I too will join, I will volunteer to embarrass myself being the only non Egoist to take such a strong medicine." It was a lie of course. The Egoism Franz had done on his brain would likely make him one of the more resistant in the trio he imagined. Still, it was made by a competent chemist. So it was going to hit. "Thank you, Miss Yun. I will be more than happy to share any side effects in the morning for research." Franz said jokingly.

Hana nodded to the assent of her peers around the table. "A little skin contact should be enough," she answered Shou's question first. "I could calculate a proper dose for everyone if I knew a few things, but I think I can make a best guess anyway. I'm not trying to knock anyone out, so much as give enough for those after effects, anyway." It took a bit of time to prepare, but once she was ready, she gave everyone a light touch on the hand or arm, holding it for a short while. Her fingers did feel wet, as if she'd dipped them in water, but otehrwise there wasn't much at first, beyond a slight cool and numbing sensation. "There we go. If it's too much, let me know and I can give you an antidote."

"Now, Miss Higashiakemi. I believe you have some interesting beliefs on the future of Egoism. I too wish to explore its limits, so I would love to discuss it more." Franz stood up, dusting off his pants. "Although, I believe we should leave old friends to talk in peace. And, while the medicine has yet to kick in, I would like to move this discussion to the dance floor. May I?" Franz offered out his hand to dance.

Ryuuko watched intently with barely concealed anticipation as Hana "administered" the dose to each of them. As she received her own dose in turn, there was indeed nothing immediately obvious aside from the cool and numb sensation. Still, it will likely take effect pretty soon. Regardless, she now had a dance invitation and considering she had yet to do so... Besides, there's probably still some time before the party ends, so there's no reason to refuse. "Alright then, now I guess we'll wait and see if we'll all start getting dizzy and such. This'll be interesting." She chuckled casually before continuing. "Thanks for humoring our curiosity, Ms. Yun! Now then, I think I'll accept your offer, Mr. Franz. It'll be my honor." She grinned playfully at that as she accepted Franz's hand. "Shou, Ms. Yun, it had been a pleasant talk. I hope to see you both again soon!" And with that, she's off to the dance floor with Franz.

Up for review!

@Kumbaris Ooh cool! I was hoping for it to be not too crazy in terms of the level of magic so that's nice. Thanks for the answer! I'm definitely interested in this then :3
Tentatively possibly interested :3

If you don't mind, I got a few questions!

1. How fantastic is the fantasy? Like, are we talking the classic chosen hero with a somewhat magical sword going against the dark lord level of fantasy? So, magical but not bombastically so. Or are we talking more on the line of "King Arthur got a magic sword that can fire a massive light beam so large it's visible from outer space" level of fantasy?

2. How advanced is the sci-fi part? Are we talking Mass Effect level of sci-fi with the characters being from civilizations that can build 10 kilometers long dreadnoughts? Or less advanced at the level of say, Interstellar? Also, so the scifi peeps are only humans in term of species?

3. How many players are you thinking of taking?

Thanks in advance! X3
