Like I said, we will see. I'm not an expert on arena RP, and I'm curious to how it'll play out. And yes it is, which is actually an issue we've touched on within this thread, if you'd cared to read the entirety of it, rather than jump on here to be defensive.

Dynamo already offered thoughts on how to re-energize that forum, which was a good start. I've yet to see yours. I'll just presume my ignorance has carried over on you and prevents you from posting meaningful solutions, which is the same reason why I'll not reply to the arena chat thread. I just think you severely misrepresent my opinion. For instance I never once said we should remove all arena aspects on the forum. That'd be stupid.

Inherent in my initial criticism was that you're trying to fix a problem which does not exist. Arena is not dead, it lies dormant and picks up again with tournaments and events, and always has. The best way to energise the forum is to host tournaments and events, which is already happening, and has been happening for the last five years.

Making people suddenly not drop out of things is basically impossible in this format of RP, as an issue that is not specific to Arena but human beings as a species, I'm not overly concerned with it.

Moreover, your cynical attempts to prove your point by posting misleading screenshots that only prove something when looked at outside of the context of how arena organisation works is deliberately damaging to the reputation of the arena sub-forum, and is deserving of criticism.

No, I'm more curious as to whether or not it'll have the effect you say it'll have.

My bet is on no. Characters or not, I'm sure people will drop, or never finish their matches.

Initially it will. Though I'm sure a few people will drop or never finish their matches, that sort of lack of commitment is pretty much prevalent across all RP.

We'll see. I'll anxiously wait. But to whoever said I selectively screenshotted that, I'd invite you all to take a look at arena at the moment. You'll understand (hopefully) why I think arena is near dead. I'd like to come back to this next month when the tournament is around. It'll be interesting :).

You don't need to wait, you're showing your ignorance as to how tournament organisation works, which is understandable as you have no knowledge of the arena subsection. Just click the TZDL thread and look at how many characters (and subsequently active players, one player per character) have been entered.

I wasn't but I suppose it's true that I didn't expect all five active members of the arena board to come give me a piece of mind. Some of you made good arguments. But I stand by my argument in favor of a lack of any other ideas to re-energize the board. So I remain of the opinion that having a tournament in the near future doesn't really give us much reason to maintain the forum as a dedicated independent sub-forum.

I'd like to (continue to) invite you to share your ideas about re-energizing the subforum so you can change my mind about how dead it is. I'd like to see arena revitalized because you guys were right in your assessment that arena RP is a vital part of roleplaying. So, please, if you do have the time, enter the debate in my thread/another thread about how you would prefer to see arena RP revitalized and how you'd ensure that it's an active community rather than a near-dead 5 playerbase community.

Those are just the people who showed up within twelve hours of knowing you were trying to prescribe massive changes to a section you know nothing about. Your language tells me you've already formed your own opinions of the Arena, I'm not particularly interested in trying to fix the ignorance of everyone I meet. No one has that kind of time.
I don't think Buddha was expecting the amount of red ants that poured out of the nest when he kicked it, thinking it was dead. Kinda funny to watch though.
It's the nature of the Arena sub-forum to go through ebbs and flows of activity, particularly when there are no tournaments currently being ran. However, there is a tournament starting early next month, so when you take your next screenshot, you'll see about eight sub-threads miraculously appear with constant replies, and wonder how you ever thought the place was dead. The Arena is unique in that way.
@MelonHead

How big we talking?

Can't actually remember, it was LeeRoy's character Sukoh, he's like fourty foot tall I think.
What's the weirdest place you've fought in an RP fight? (General question to the public. The Bouncy Castle takes the cake for me.)

For a short portion of a fight my character and Skallagrims were actually fighting on top of a giant bear, that's probably the weirdest.
@Melonhead

"I haven't had that many fights on here. Maybe...3? And about one of them I heard Devil, Pollen, and some others I can't remember were talking smack behind my back"

That implies it was behind your back. That assumes I wouldn't say to you or assume you can't get on discord and read it yourself. This also assumes I didn't anticipating people copying and pasting a log (pastebin logs are common in Zandronun/Doom). You are under the assumption you are the only person we have talked shit about. This also implies the people in the discord weren't shit talked to as well.

What exactly should I be saying to you on the forums when I address you? You ask and I answer.

Why was I mentioned in this? I think you might have the wrong person.
All fights, no matter the power tier, no matter the format or venue, ranked or unranked, tournament or funsies, go the same way. Nine out of ten fights are total moose piss that make you wonder why you still waste your life on this damn game. That tenth fight is the perfect-storm-of-awesome reminder you need to keep going at it.

Frustration makes many a player do many a silly thing. We've all been there. Don't sweat it too hard, Ev. Just remember to keep your mask on and suplex harder in the future.

If it were generally 9 out of 10 fights, I'd start to think the problem was myself, or yourself, but I do agree that the amount of fights you end up disliking can sometimes stray into the majority, for me personally I thoroughly enjoy about 50% of my fights, though generally I've preferred fights that weren't ranked or in tournament more frequently.
