Yikes, I totally didn't mention magic at all in the OP, did I?

Magic in this world is not so much an inherent talent or skill the player is able to hone, rather it is a gift from the many beasts roaming the unexplored wilderness. "Magic" is more or less the incredible and inhuman skill of these beasts, which is condensed into and then derived from the items and ingredients dropped by slain monsters. Any of your standard magic can be found in one beast or another.

The strength of these items is determined by how many skill points you're willing to use to upgrade it, instead of spending it on your character. Magical items will have their own ranking system and parameters. When making your character, I'll allow the player to build their own item or items and transfer any number of starting skill points (there will be plenty) into the items instead of the character.

A character's skills will solely be physical characteristics.

The reason for the magic mechanic is because I don't like OP magic. This, I feel, is a good way to keep mages on par with other players.

There will be a "rank" system that allows players reasonable power within their rank according to their stats. I haven't worked out exactly what the parameters are or how many points graduates into the next rank, but I was thinking

Rank A - Superhuman
Rank B - Prolific
Rank C - Above Average
Rank D - Average by human standards
Rank E - Below average

Depending on how much variety I decide that vague outline needs, I might throw in sub-ranks or go further into detail about what which rank entails. However, these won't be strict and I won't be constantly hopping into the RP nagging people because they're exceeding their rank. However to that however, because this will be a very heavily combat focused RP, I think it makes sense for more XP to equal greater power.

In the beginning, it's not like everyone's stats will all be rank E. When filling out your CS, you'll be able to have enough starting stat points to make your character a viable fighter from the beginning, depending on how you spread them. It's no fun starting an RP and being useless at everything.
@Avanhelsing
Oh, I was thinking you meant a battle of ultimate monk supremacy, sorry. Got carried away.
Awesome, so if I had a few (two or three) more people who show interest in this I can start releasing developed stuff and see what you guys think.
@Avanhelsing
While a kickass Monk-off would be interesting to see who truly is Top Monk, I don't know if that's gonna mesh well with the whole "work together so you don't die" thing.

@Sombrero
Team mascot?!?
I can make a second character, like an artillerist/demolitionist or long range arms? Maybe a dwarf? Depending on how much variety we need in our cast. I don't know if I can finish it by today though.

@Hexaflexagon
Awesome! No, that should be the last of the edits, haha. I'll go ahead and move her over, then.
Well, here we are. I didn't know if I should edit this into an existing post or make a new one, but I figured a new one would attract more attention so it didn't get missed.

EDIT: Cleaned up some code to make it not such an eyesore
EDITEDIT: Let me know if anything is out-of-whack in there, I'm very willing to make concessions, this isn't an old character of mine and more of one I made up off the top of my head for this RP. I'm very open to changes.
EDITEDITEDIT: Breaking news: I'm an idiot and didn't realize you gave us a specific bio format. Updated accordingly.
I didn't even notice the dearth of players that already applied. Is there room for one more before I finish this app?

(that's a sarcastic use of dearth there. not very well conveyed over text)
