I'd like to try to fill the archetypes for the classic characters, but let people develop them however they please. The geek who leads the way, the mechanic, the doctor, the demolition expert, ect.

It'll probably start off as the team departs on the cargo ship, leave room for character development, and then the sub launch and leviathan attack. They struggle along the highway to Atlantis with meager rations and low equipment supply until they finally make it there.

Eventually the evil military guy double crosses our geeky hero and the team has to decide whether they stand with them or with the mercenaries. Fight ensues, good guys win, yada yada.

Basically, I want to follow the general plot of the movie, but with OCs and maybe a few extra details that you can't fit in a single film.
Remember that quirky Disney movie from the early 2000's that kinda flopped? Atlantis has always been one of my favorites Disney films, and I've tried to turn it into an RP a couple times. It's got the perfect elements: a quest, adventure, an opportunity for a broad cast of characters, glorious steampunk aesthetic.

Who would be interested in joining an RP based around the movie?

Should Kvan fly directly through Steve or nah? >:)

Ka'van set his half finished oatmeal aside as the Titans received a call to action. He drifted over towards Robin, looking around him at the screen and eagerly awaiting orders.

For him, costume change was easy. An inky black aura began to emanate from him, devouring his gray skin and turning it into a dark void. His eyes turned a solid, brightly glowing red, and a tattered gray cloak appeared out of seemingly nowhere to settle on his shoulders. The air around him grew cold as he allowed the demon closer to the surface, drawing from it's power to increase his own.

"I'll meet you all there," Wraith said as he lifted off the ground. He flew towards, then through, the wall. Wraith arrived at the docks soon after Starfire. As his fellow alien began to secure the citizens, he approached the boat and silently touched down onto the deck. He probably should wait for his cohorts...but a little recon wouldn't hurt.

Wraith became intangible and began flying through the walls of the ship, scouting for possible hostages aboard, or perhaps even their criminal.

I did move a roleplay from casual to free because someone (I forgot who) pointed out their posts were 3 sentences tops. I checked and double checked and it was the case, so I switched it. If you find a casual roleplay that has more in posts than the advanced section, let us know because we should switch it.

My gripe is less with the actual posts and more with the plot and set up of the RPs. Like, if I don't know whether I want to join this RP or not, I'd rather not commit half an hour of my life reading through the dull world building only to see a deal breaker at the end. People are just going way too in depth right out of the gate and it makes it hard to get interested in new RPs
I don't come over to these threads often, so I don't typically see what gets posted here :P

You would think the site would provide a system to report and move these RPs to their proper categories. That alone would liven up the Advanced section again.
It seems to me that the Casual section has been taken over by Advanced RPs. Plot descriptions 10 paragraphs long, drawn out, complex world building from the get go, and replies that are long winded and lengthy. It didn't use to be this way. What happened? Like...I just wanna write with some decent grammar and spelling, but not novel, man. I like world building, but my attention span isn't long enough to read through your dry description of the political and religious affairs of this country that I haven't even decided if I want to play in or not.
